BluRay for Microsoft, maybe nintendo. All will also use DD, but there will be a physical format of some type.

I wouldnt mind if everything went to sd cards... No spinning tray and they could pick and choose the size of the card depending on the game. I can't imagine that route would be cost efficiant however.

All will use BD. Unless they choose the Wii way, so in that case still DVD. DD will still be optional for small/indie/old games.

I think Nintendo will shift to DD for their handhelds considering how well Dsiware is doing and how Apple is doing well with a DD model for games. Sony will probably switch to a common portable format or fully go DD (hopefully they'll realize their mistake with the GO). Microsoft with their windows phone 7 of course use DD for any game on their mobil format. Microsoft might edge closer to being a DD home console manufacturer but will probably still employ some sort of physical format. Sony and Nintendo will stay with physical format but will probably experiment more. Apple (if it joins next gen, which is possible) will definetely use DD.

Im sure MS and NIntendo will stick with dated tech and Sony will most likely beef up the Cell with a better GPU. Can you imagine how good games would look with the Cell(faster PPE and SPE's with more individual memory) and a current GPU?djsifer01

and yet sony never ends up with the greatest games each gen. they have good ones, but they can hardly be called the best of the best

It was not successful in market share just like the PS3 they went from on top to squirming

ghost392

Except the PS3 didn't just lose SCE their market share, it cost them billions of dollars in losses. This sort of thing was never a problem for Nintendo.

I dont care the fact is both were on top with much 3rd party support and then fell to in both cases 3rd place

SEGA was 3rd place in the N64 Gen. and the Dreamcast was 4th place, last gen.

I'd say the Nintendo and Sony console will use bluray but Microsoft will be stubborn and refuse, i also have a bad feeling one of the three consoles is gonna wind up with huge failure rates in it's first couple of years, Sony or MS i'd say. Maybe Killzone or Uncharted as a killer opening exclusive but i'm not sure what MS would release as a console seller. Plus maybe a vastly improved online service from Sony. I'm really interested to see what menus the 720 and PS4 will have and if either will back 3D support.

Well my point is they all try horrible new formats and fall down despite being a powerful machine

I read somewhere that Microsoft was in talks with GE, whom were working on a holographic disc, which can hold almost a terabyte of data. I also read in a Game Informer that Sony was also developing a new format, which holds about the same as the GE holographic format. Can you imagine having the capabilities to have an entire movie collection on one disc? Can't wait!

sony wiill stick to bluray

microsoft will move up to bluray

nintendo might also move up to bluray

given that their next console is said to be hd , why wouldnti t ,

digital distribution being optional next gen ,like it is now

for ds their using same cards but different guts and possibly bigger in size=storage space

psp 2 may end up using umd ,

if there is a psp2

looks good to me.
