Gears 2 will be good, but how many people can play in an online game again? :lol:Zoso-8
Gears of War with 8 player multi and winning GOTY over RFOM and its 40 players tell you a games quality isn't about its massive numbers of players. Its what you can accomplish with them.
the 360 doesnt need a game, it already has one, its called halo 3, and its going to be a hell of a long time till a console fps beats it.
as for your silly "no system sellers" comment , the 360 has a ton load, i know loads of people who are buying the console when fable 2 comes out, gears 2? red alert 3? infinite undiscovery? left for dead? too human? banjo 3?
infact quite a few people have come and brought a 360 from my shop over the past week just for ninja gaiden 2
scottiescott238
Are you kidding me? Halo 3 is a crappy game that looks like a cartoon. Even resistance 1 is better looking than halo 3. So far there isn't any exclusive FPS game on the 360 this year so people will be looking on the PS3 for FPSD action. And this is going to increase even more when killzone 2(the best graphical game on consoles) hits, which is going to push even more consoles as it has no competition, let alone any game that can compare with its graphics and animations on the 360.
I don't think the 360 can handle a 40 player online FPS, let alone a 60 player online one... Hooray XBL?wallpaper42
I guess that's just like how the PS3 can't manage to run any multiplatform game anywhere near as well as the 360.

I think Frontlines had 50 players but apparently it sucked.

But how about 100 vs. 100?

Oh yeah, forgot all about Huxley. I guess I'll believe that when the game comes out.

60 player online isnt a plus. Do you really have 29 friends you can forma team with that all have headsets and copies of the game and are on at the same time you are? 5 on 5 is enough
And you can say "what does X have to counter X?" for just about anything. Like what 3rd person shooter does the ps3 have to counter GeoW 2? Or what platformer can counter Banjo 3? Or what RPG can counter Fable 2?
Just because the 360 doesn't have any FPS (and we can't be sure of that yet) being released at the exact moment that Resistence 2 is, doesn't mean that Halo 3 and past FPS games don't count. It's because of huge games like Halo 3 that the 360 is seen as mainly a FPS console.

Why does your team have to only be your friends? I just like huge maps and massive battles. But I guess 60 player online wouldn't be very awesome for XBL unless you mute the voice recieve volume. There would probably be at least 15 children on your team screaming profanity at the top of their lungs.

it obviously dosen't, more does not = better. it = more. was the first resistance better than all other games with less players online like CoD4, halo3 and GeoW? no? then its not better!

'better' is still just opinion.
thats like saying that in the game of Tennis, 2v2 is better than 1v1 cause there's more people. sorry, but that sounds stupid.

precisely my point, and why play a team game if you CANT hear your teamates? Massive battles are fun for about 10 minutes and then its just silliness, getting killed seconds after you spawn is never fun even if you're really good. Also, I never play team games with strangers, only with my friends otherwise, whats the point?

And yet gears of war is the more popular game and has the larger online community, even after all this time. I suppose that doesn't matter because your opinion is right huh?
The 360 needs no FPS, gears 2 will do what Gears 1 did and steal the spotlight, Sonys about a year late to the FPS party.

I didn't mean that the number of players online was the only thing that mattered to rating how good a game is. But it is definitely a factor. Don't you think Gears would be more fun if the online supported more than 8 players?! And if it had some larger maps so that it wasn't complete chaos, but still more intense and hectic?!

Not if the maps are large.
The convenience of playing against other humans without having to wait for your friends and meeting people on the game.

One of the things what I noticed about big team games it's harder to work as a team especially with random player. Communication will not always be there and with the mechanics of gears I think having minimal of 8-10 players is perfect.

I rather play team games where I can work as a team with others even with strangers. I use to do this a lot, but I haven't in a while. In gears and RSV when playing team games I would be scout and tell my other teamates where I died or tell them what the other team is doing if I was able to spot them.
Even in some big team games it is better to be organized and personally I prefer people that talk. Example when playing Ground War in COD4 when playing Domination a game type where you have to capture the points and try to hold against the opposing team instead of trying to get the most kills. The team that is able to communicate and work as a team will do better than the team where there is no communication.
Left 4 Dead this year and Bioshock 2 next year. I doubt either game will be as good as Resistance 2, but we'll see.
Edit: Are you pulling a PS_John? It looks like you own a 360 but all you ever do is criticise it.
Floppy_Jim
Resistance 2 looks really cool, I will buy it. However, I also think Resistance FOM is really over rated. I think the only reason it got so much attention is because, especially at the time, there are so few good game worth mentioning on the ps3.
Aside from the fact that the 360 is getting Left4Dead from Valve. A shooter that has been in development for at least a few years now. It shares the game with the PC but even if it's not a system seller I am anticipating that a lot.
I will buy it for both platforms but the 360 first. Just because I have a few friends who do not PC game that I want to co-op the game with.
But Gears and Fable could both sell 360's. There may be more then a few PC gamers who love gears, or really want to test the Fable hype, that do not feel like waiting for PC ports. Especially if there is a price drop.

You should play a game of TF2 once on a team with players with out headsets and once on a team of players with headsets. You will end up having a lot more fun AND winning(or atleast keeping it close) Ive played CAL games in TF2 with a close group of friends on Vent and then playing in Pubs with people you dont know, and who never talk. its a different game. Pubs are so retarded that they sap the fun out of the game for me, unless there are people I know in it.
This goes for any team based mode for any game, minus Team Deathmatch. You need no coordination for Team Deathmatch. But seriously, you should try playing TF2 or Enemy Territory, or any real team based game play mode like CTF both with and without players with headsets, and you tell me which is more enjoyable.
[QUOTE="-GhostMLD-"]And again, Gears will smack around resistence like the little ***** it is.
-GhostMLD-
I didnt say R2 is garbage.
Rofl...you must have some sort of mental Handicap...
You can move 3 million of the sales Halo 3 achieved last year into 08 to counter resistence 2.
dont worry, Halo can spare the sales.
-GhostMLD-
yea and the system was still outsold last year by the ps3 with has ( according to lems ) absolutley no good games.
nice try buddee

It makes sense to me that a system in its first year will see more sales then a system in it's second year. The 360 being released a year early will also peak sooner then a system released a year later.
MGS4 will see a big spike in sales for the system ( I think but do not know obviously) as gamers who were holding out for a reason to get he system will now do so.
But even with such a great game hitting the system as an exclusive it does not deserve to pass the 360 in sales. The 360 line up over all still stomps the ps3. If games like Fable 2 and Gears 2 live up to the hype these glory days will soon be forgotten,
