My biggest disappointment was MW2 for all the reasons stated in all the MW2 threads :?
What game were you looking forward to but ended up disappointing you? Why was it a disappointment?

RDR. Despite virtually everyone saying things to the contrary it very much is Grand Theft Horse: a poorly executed story, repetitive main-missions and underwhelming side-missions, questionable gunplay, and a large number of piss-poor design choices. Plus, in a very un-GTA move, a surprisingly mediocre soundtrack. Overall still a good and worthwhile experience, but one that should have been much, much better.
Silent Hill Homecoming: I expected a Silent Hill title that would rival SH2 in terms of story, symbolism, and characters. Homecoming was just a predictable shallow story filled with cheap scares.
MGS:4 I guess I expected too much of this title. I was looking for this title will would be a great conclusion to the MGS saga or at least Solid Snakes story. I ended up experiencing a game with bad pacing. The story elements that were to tie everything up felt rushed, unnecessary at some points, characters weren't as interesting as past titles. It was like Kojima and Murata just said "**** it we give up we made a mess with MGS2"
Final Fantasy XIII: Although I did like the ATB system, I didn't care for anything else. The story wasn't interesting what so ever. The cast of characters sucked except for Sazh. Also the gameplay structure got very bland after he 10 hour mark. Run through a very linear path, fight, FMV scene, repeat. Also no game should take 20-25 hours to "open up" especially a RPG title.
You liked the first Killzone but not the second? :?MW2 online ruined the game
BFBC2 IF they can fix the online that game would be good
Killzone2/uncharted2 Diddnt like those games at all i liked the first ones more

final fantasy 13, gta 4 and gow 3. my 3 favorite franchise and my 3 most disapointing games of this gen
Far Cry 2 - It started out fresh and exciting, the wildfires were so cool...then it became clear the game was nothing but MAJOR repetition and annoyances. :(
FUEL - Great concept on paper, but poorly executed. HORRIBLE soundtrack, and the map was actually TOO big. It could literally take an hour or so to drive from one end to the other, all while seeing lackluster graphics and hearing outdated sound effects. Very underwhelming. (And I know there was a "warp" feature, but when a game advertises itself as the biggest ever map created in a video game, then you should be able to enjoy driving around in it)
No More Heroes= Killer 7 is awesome. This game?A complete piece of crap Too Human= Eternal Darkness is awesome. This Game? A complete piece of crap something that disappointed me the most this year Splinter Cell Conviction= Not necessarily a bad game, but such a massive bastardization of the greatness that was once Splinter Cell. jg4xchampNOOOO! God damn it, No More Heroes is a GOOD GAME!
Tales of Symphonia 2. TOS was the best JRPG on the gamecube and I was very excited when they announced a sequel for the Wii. Well it didn't surpass the first one and it was a big let down for me. So far the Wii hasn't had really great JRPG's. Xenoblade is looking like it will be the best JRPG for the Wii. We still have to see how The Last Story will play, so im very excited to see both of these games at E3.
Farcry 2 - Bland gameplay and non-existant story made me very bored.
Final Fantasy XIII - Proof that padding out a game with boring filler won't make it any better than a excellent, short game.
Modern Warfare 2 - I don't know what Infinity Ward were smoking when they stripped down the PC port.

Everyone said it was a fairly-significant-if-evolutionary-improvement over GTA4, and I liked the idea of a fairly-significant-if-evolutionary-improvement over GTA4 with horses. Whereas in reality RDR is actually worse than GTA4 in many important respects: the characters aren't as well developed and are largely totally forgotten as soon as you've finished their respective missions; the story has the same "why should I care about or invest in the protagonist?" issues, only worse; the main missions have even less variety; and the game is riddled with brain-dead design choices.
Sure RDR had its share of improvements (particularly how the more open setting and deadeye improve the gunplay), but I'd actually say GTA4 was the better game (with the caveat I haven't played it in forever).
But thanks for reminding me about Conviction, which now that I think of it is in fact my most disappointing game this gen. Sweet Jebus did it suck.

It's spaghetti western vs pretentious plot. Honestly neither plot is all that worth praising(although I like the ending to RDR way more). Mission variety was dropped, but it didn't take a decade to get to the fun and the intense missions. It was actually quicker to get into the action. Did I still suffer in the beginning? yes who the **** wants to herd cattle? That said I thought it just all around played better, and the mechanics themselves were far more satisfying. I just didn't care enough for the extras. They fit the "You can, but why the hell would you want to do those missions?" and the multiplayer is pitifully boring.I have a few
Tekken 6: Bad campaign and not such a good online and it took forever to load and was just dated to me.
Resident Evil 5: Thought it was gonna be a frontrunner and push on from number 4 but it was a massive letdown with a bad inventory system and lack of thrills. Didn't feel like RE.
Modnation Racers: I had high hopes for this but it lacked the brilliance of Little Big Planet and it just felt like a clone of Mario Kart Wii.
Bayonetta: The hype was quiet huge for this game but it felt like it was all mashing buttons and no puzzles. Doesn't rival GOW.

I disagree here. I think the premise of the MGS2 ending and the revelation of the Patriots had great potential. But Kojima went a bit manic with it in MGS4. In MGS3, I think it was a perfect prequel to give a bit of backstory to the pre-Patriot rule (The Philosophers) and to give us an idea of what the Patriots ideals were (even though we didn't know who, or what they were). And then Kojima went crazy in MGS4, and tried to be a tad overcomplicated.
