Far Cry 2 (well a sequal only in name, but does count, right?)
if not then Deus Ex: IW I feel sorry for that game, having to live up to the first game :s it failed ofcourse, not a bad game, but a terrible Deus ex game ^^
Well...
-Halo: Reach
-Deus Ex: Invisible Wars
-Doom 3
-Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II
-Farcry 2
-Final Fantasy XIII
-Fear 2
Unreal Tournament 3
It's like they took Unreal Tournament 2004 and removed all the stuff that made it good.

all the spryo games after the PS1
all the crash bandicoot games after the PS1
all the GBA/DS castlevania games
I second this vote, The first two games were fun, especially Fight for NY. This game wasn't nearly as good as that one.Mine is Def Jam Icon. The previous game was so fun, the they just ruined it with Icon.

Valkyria chronicles 2 being announced for the PSP, although i never played it.
valkyria chronicles is my favorite game this GEN, and i had alot of ideas and hopes for the sequel, that's why i was so disappointed to see that the developers made the jump to the psp instead of the HD consoles.
I don't know which ruined this generation more for me... Metroid Prime 3: Corruption or Mass Effect 2. But I'm leaning more towards the latter because Corruption wasn't *that* much of a departure from Prime and Echoes.
Half-life 2, for pretty much the reasons this guy lays out:

I still play Half-Life 1 pretty religiously. HL2 I finished once and really don't want to go back to. I totally understand what makes it a good game, but I just can't get into it. It all feels too scripted. I guess HL1 was linear also, but it had this spontaneous feeling. HL2 can be summed up as following a single winding line, killing a few things along the way, looting for ammo, talking to some people who say to go somewhere else, rinse and repeat. HL1 always felt like you were the one blazing a trail through a crumbling facility, desperately searching for an exit.
That feeling was re-captured perfectly in Episode One, imo. People seem to dislike it most out of all the HL2 games, but for me it's nigh gameplay perfection. No constant hand-holding, just you and Alyx on the run.

I also found all the extended one way conversations an immersion breaking holdover from the first game (they worked much better in the first game given the context of the story and the brevity of of their duration) .
Kinda the same here, my reasoning mainly was that the gunplay felt too simple as the ai. The first game was so much fun on the shooting aspect. Also some of the design choices in that game, like say turrets that cannot be destroyed. Or lay down stuff to walk on so you wont wake the antlions. Just felt like they killed what made the first game the best fps i ever played. Also agree that i liked the episodes 1 and 2 much more.a game where skill is the most dominant? yea, man that must be pretty bad :lol:Starcraft 2, the PC has even more rehashes than the Wii.

mass effect 2 was good I just wish they stopped calling it an RPG. Plus they took out the exploration that made Mass effect 1 so amazing -___-I don't know which ruined this generation more for me... gears 2, absolute trash compared to the first in terms of multiplayerMicrosoft1234Just curious, what made the multiplayer in Gears 2 so bad? I often hear this, but weirdly enough I beat that game but never got around to touching the multiplayer as I did with the first one.
Kingdom Hearts 2....
No no, I can't say that. I am partly to blame for playing it on normal and that I really wanted to play FFXIII(as I got it around the same time) and it's that thing of ' I wanna finish this game and play THAT one'.
Boy, in terms of gaming, one of my biggest mistakes.
Hmmm, I would say AC 2, it simply didnt have anything special apart from a good mani character imo.
Combat was bland and easy. Lack of enemy types.
The side dungeons were probably the best thing imo.
Repitive missions imo (pfft, those assassinate ones where you get from a bird's cage)
Though, I'd still probably give it probably a ... 6.75/10. First 8/10, it had potential for a better sequel- that's the main disappointment. Oh and boss battles? Hah, at least and try make the last one good! (Like AC1's last boss battle, simple but really enjoyed the music and presentation to it)

They replaced the custom games with matchmaking thus ensuring every game would be a total lagfest. Not only that butI absolutely hated the new look.

gears 2, absolute trash compared to the first in terms of multiplayerMicrosoft1234I've barely played any Gears multiplayer. but I was also let down with Gears 2. I enjoyed it, but I think I had more fun with the first one. Maybe it was just the "wow" factor wearing off.
Ratchet and Clank Future: Tools of Destruction. I don't know why so many people thought it was the best one when it came out.

The enemies flank you, try to flush you out with grenades, run for cover when they take damage, and rush you when you go to reload.
[QUOTE="Rick_Henderson"]A man who did not play on a difficulty higher than normal I see.Metal Gear Solid 4.
You can use stealth, but it's more a hassle than it is helpful. That defeats the purpose, stealth is supposed make infiltration easier.
Call me crazy, but I liked the pre-Subsistence camera better. That along with the Soliton Radar.
Weapon OSP was so much more satisfying than the Drebin store.
Making Snake old was really dumb and desperate on Kojima's part.
The story was a mess, but MGS2 takes partial blame for that. The length and pacing of the cutscenes was terrible also.
Prague and Outer Haven contain very little gameplay when compared to the first two chapters.
The CODEC was underused. Seriously Otacon and Rose are the only people I get to talk to?
WAY too many useless items/weapons. I'm a fan of the KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) approach.
Beauty and the Beast Squad sucked and were totally uninteresting. It's not even funny how much the 4th game pales in comparision to the first 3.
Ace6301
I was thinking the same thing
I know it sounds odd, but MGS4 shined at harder difficulties. Not to mention, you CAN play the game OSP if you really want (just don't purchase any weapons/itmes from Drebin....was that so hard?).
[QUOTE="Dibdibdobdobo"]Resident Evil 4 and 5. Neither are as good as 0,1,2,3, CVX. Quite looking forward to buying a 3DS for some resident evil action.wooooodeWow RE4 is in my top 5 all time favorites. Dont get me wrong its a decent enough game but i enjoyed the exploration, Maniacs like william Birkin / Mr X... , Zombies (especially REmake Crimsons), Puzzles, Surviving on little to no Ammo which 4 and 5 never had in them. The thing which i liked about 4 and 5 was the view and thats really it. I'm buying a 3DS specifically for the RE games on it just like i brought a GC just for Remake, 0 and the port CVX.
I can't really think of any. In many ways it's because I am a very dedicated fan of the things and properties I admire. I love all six Star Wars films (the best EVAR!!!), all three Matrix and Pirates movies, FF XIII, all the Halo games, all the Zeldas, both Bioshocks, the list goes on and on. I mean sure most sequels aren't as good as their predecessors but to be considered bad or disappointing, for me, takes A LOT. I'm just a fan so it's hard for me to find things I hate or don't like. Call me silly, but trust me...it's better this way ;)
[QUOTE="Master_ShakeXXX"]You're in the wrong thread. The thread titled "greatest epic masterpiece of all time" is dat way >
that would be an opinion, and many people would disagree with you.
And I disagree with you and agree with him. See it goes both ways! :)Please Log In to post.
