i started gaming with super mario world, but the game that made me the gamer i am today would probably have to be Halo: CE
without playing that game i would probably still be Wii only :(
The game that got me into gaming was Super Mario Bros. 3. The games that made me the gamer I am today is the PSone era, but more importantly the PS2 era. It was these generations when I started watching gaming news, when I joined Gamespot, and played a wider variety of titles and actually cared about what I played.
I've played alot of games and I'm not really sure which drawed me into gaming some more but if I were to pick one game that made me the gamer I am today, I'd have to be PowerStone.
It was a freakin' fun feast.
halo 2, i ended up becomming an online junkie, it even resulted with me eventually getting a pc for alot of games, and resulted with me not getting a ps3 "cus it wasnt competitive enough", seriously before halo 2 i only played single player games, if i played multiplayer it was split screen.
but after i got halo 2 on live, multiplayer was a requirement for me in any game.
[QUOTE="bf2nutta"]Commander Keen was my first I really played... but Monkey Island really ignited my passionmattbbpl
Wow. I'd forgotten about Commander Keen. I really enjoyed the series back in the day.

u can still download them at 3D realms website... quite amazing how far that company has come.
my trusty ol' SNES. Super mario world, and Legend of Zelda started it all for me.
And then there are countless games that made me the gamer i am today...
Baldur's Gate 2, Grim Fandango, Quest for Glory 1, the NHL series (94-09), the original Counter-Strike, Resident Evil, Sonic the Hedgehog.....
so many more.
FFVI
MGS1
Mario 64
Zelda OOT
Resident Evil2
Silent Hill 1
Half Life 1
Chrono Trigger
Age Of Empires II
Empire Earth 1
Goldeneye
FFVIII
Ace Combat 3 (japanese Version)
The King Of Fighters
Those games did.
basicly what was the game that got u into gaming from the start. for me it was when i got my ps1 and played crash bandicoot for the first time. i never stopped playing those games, and i still have my ps1. after that i started to explore gaming more and try out new games and then i was hooked. so how bout u guys?dannynehme
Yeah the original Crash Bandicoot games (Crash Bandicoot & Crash Warped) on Playstation were my first purchases, and really got me into games. Even my sisters, who never played videogames, loved them,
I'm still playing them... I downloaded them off PSN and I play them on my PS3! Good memories!
Sonic the Hedgehog and Streets of Rage on the Genesis. I played those two games for hours on end and got insanely good at them and beat them over and over and over and over and over and over and...
Donkey Kong Country for the SNES was my prologue to gaming....and wat a prologue it was!!! Then came the awesomeness of the PS1 and N64 era with other platforming games like Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Mario 64, Spyro, and Crash Bandicoot...which turned me into a platforming addict. There was also Mario Kart 64 which i played extensively back in the day. Then the PS2 Era gave me my love of JRPGs with Legaia 2 and FFX, and the Jak and Daxter series which are still on the top ten games ive ever had the honor to play. I seriously didnt get into FPS until COD4, but even then I hold good platform games above FPSs. Then when i got my PS3 was when I started getting into MGS...which i feel bad for entering the party soooo late. But, one day, I just got the essential collection while at Wal-mart one day. And I was blown away.
So yeah thats a lil summaryof some of the games thats made a gamer today...Ive never been happier with any other hobby.
