What game will disappoint this year?

So far, this year's been great- every single game that was hyped to any degree has largely managed to make its fans happy. Resident Evil 7 was great, Yakuza 0 was surprisingly great, Nioh turned out to be everything fans wanted and more, Horizon is one of the best games Sony's first party has put out, Xbox and Halo fans ended up really enjoying what Halo Wars 2 had on offer, For Honor turned out to be surprisingly deep and fun, Sniper Elite 4 is the best game in the series, and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is already being called by many critics one of the greatest games ever made.

But this can't keep up forever, right? Surely some game will come along that will end up disappointing someone soon? Which one will it be? Will it be Nier Automata? Persona 5? Mass Effect Andromeda? Will it be Prey, Red Dead Redemption 2, Super Mario Odyssey, Sea of Thieves, Gran Turismo Sport?

Or will it be something else entirely?

Right now I want to say that Nier Automata and Sea of Thieves are the most likely candidates. I kind of want to perhaps throw Super Mario Odyssey in the mix as well because I personally didn't like how some of those real world looking levels looked like and that one GameCube Mario game seemingly let down a number of people so the potential that it can happen again is there although it's pretty slim.

I've seen some Resident Evil fans, including myself, that were disappointed with Resident Evil 7 for not feeling like a Resident Evil game.

If I had to place a bet on which big upcoming game had the greatest chance of disappointing it's fans, I would place my money on God of War since it looks like it will be a huge departure from what the franchise normally is so there is a chance that the new style might not work well for the franchise. Even if it does end up being good and I hope it does, there will still likely be fans of the franchise that will be disappointed by the changes. Plus, Santa Monica Studio's games over the past few years have been kind of disappointing including their last God of War game.

The bitches will come out in force on Andromeda, but that's cool... It's gonna be beast and we'll measure its success in feathers ruffled.

Sea of Thieves because it will be repetitive and Gran Turismo because it will be delayed once again.

Sea of Thieves won't be disappointing because no sane person is expecting anything from this F2P looking title. I just hope ME:A won't disappoint me. That's all i care for now.

mass effect 2 and red dead redemption 2 are going to disappoint lot of people.

My brother is really excited for Mass Effect, I hope it's everything he wants it to be. So even though I'm pretty indifferent to it at the moment (I want to and will play it, but it wouldn't break my heart if it underwhelmed), I want it to be great for him.

you are wrong my friend. first sniper elite in 2005 is still best one. a game that has no mini map and no xray vision.

GT Sport - Any Xbox exclusive (not on general way, just disappoint me personally)

I have a feeling that the Crash Remake could fail. It has a lot of Ps1 fans that hated everything that came later. If they can't reproduce the gameplay 100%, fans will be angry

mass effect. the game looked like absolute shit tier stuff in the last gameplay vid i watched. stiff as rickets animations, boring cover based combat, insultingly stupid hand holding...the game straight up told the player how to solve a fucking puzzle in the lastest gameplay footage, really annoying in game dialogue from snarky ass npcs, typical op af badass in a game world full of bullet sponge enemies feel...yeah, it looks like crap.

My guess is that the disappointment will come from games that are delayed; not from the games themselves.

Halo Wars 2 was already a disappointment, but that didn't have too much hype. GT Sport possibly delaying until next year is something that could happen and would be very disappointing.

Crackdown 3 WILL disappoint many people, bookmark it.

@W1NGMAN-: meh i actually think most people that wanted a RTS on consoles enjoyed Halo wars 2.

Probably Call of Duty, return to the roots. Won't be worth it with BF1 still much better.

Mass Effect and Cuphead. There's a ton of optimism for cuphead, but the early hands on impressions were not that favorable - hopefully its delay does something for it; the art style is fun

Yeah I can't see Sea of Thieves being hugely successful... I think it's a mistake not to include at least a SP campaign. From what I've seen, the MP will grow old pretty quickly too I predict.

My other worry is Mass Effect... I just hope that it still feels like a ME game, and not Dragon Age in space. And that it doesn't have a million open-world side quests. But fingers crossed!

And GT Sport. PS fans hoping this will be their Forza on PS, I highly doubt it.

Fifa on switch will disappoint.

@hrt_rulz01: The thing that worries me the most about Sea of Thieves is how the players will behave ingame. It seems too prone to griefing and trolling which will no doubt sour other gamer's experiences. I've long since moved on from the Gran Turismo games in favour of Forza so I'm not interested in GT Sport at all.

Yeah exactly... the only way I see this game being fun is playing with a group of people you know. Otherwise, it'll just be ruined by idiots.

Judging by my early experiences Horizon Zero Dawn. Definitely not Persona 5! GTFO.

I think Shadow of War. Thing is Mordor wasn't that great yet was hugely praised by the media. Therefor the hype for War will be very hard to live up to.
