There was a bit of a backlash for Bioshock only getting 9.0 here, but I say it was pretty generous.

Well it was still hyped AAA. Cows tried to call it a flop because it "only" got a 9, and that's partly what set that backlash off, though people were pretty pissed about the score too. But I don't think there's a fail tag attached to Bioshock because of it.

It certainly failed my expectations of being better than one of my favourite games, Deus Ex. Not even remotely close to being better IMO.
