Donkey Kong Country was a definition of "fun" that most games these days dont have. waaayyy better then mario imo. man i used to remember playing co op with my bro and everything. i missed the level design and mostly the tunes that was played during the levels. dkc had the best tunes. tell me that this tune isnt the best...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=73n7HTcmb5g....i would no doubt buy a wii for the next gen dkc if done rite....
They were all great games but the second one definetly had an edge over the first. Especially with the music. It's a shame Rare and Nintendo no longer do business.
Nintendo needs to make a new Donkey Kong PLATFORMER already... it's been YEARS since we saw a DK Platformer.... Nintendo for some reason prefers to make crappy spin offs instead of main games (which sell better too - DKC sold over 9.3 million copies!).
DKC was one of the first platformers I played, I believe the first was Mario World and then DKC. I went back and played the game not too long ago and I was astounded on how easy it was, and boring. The reason I kept playing it was because of the "music". With out a doubt DKC2 and 3 were miles better in every way... and to answer your question, no RARE=No Donkey Kong

Nintendo and Rare split up. Rare was purchased by MS and since Nintendo owns the publishing rights to Donkey Kong we probably won't ever see a proper DK game ever again.

Nintendo needs to make DKC4... and keep it 2.5D.... yes I know thats not the technical term.... the only thing 3D in the game is Diddy & Donkey Kong..... but imagine how great it could look if nintendo put the processing power of the Wii (it was hard to type that with a straight face), into a DKC for the current gen gamers.
I still remember the first time I saw the game..... I was absolutely floored by the graphics.... so beautiful.... they look terrible stretched out to 16:9 though..... just Ewwwwwww.....

It's true, I can't link it but I read somewhere that Rare made the avatars. Great job MS, talk about letting talent go to waste !
The Donkey Kong Country games are amazing games. And DKC2: Diddy's Kong Quest is one of the best games ever created. The games had it all: graphics, music, gameplay, co-op, ... . And they are still fun to play even today.
nintendo is onlt interested in horrible DK games like junghle beat or that stupid racer and mini game collections. im glad there not making anymore DK games because their killing the franchise.
I remember the 1st one being pretty awesome. I'd come home from school and play that game for a long time. Unfortunately I never got the second one. I think I had one for the Gameboy though.
well ipersonaly did not like them because the gameplay was too simple, however they were considered great games all 3 of them and all 3 sold, i am surprized back in the day that there was never a 4. maybe because if there would of been a 4 it would of been staring the baby as the main character jugging by the patten, and the path its been taking its beeen stearing away from the most important characters.

Rare was sold to MS for a record price of around 300 million dollars I believe.
last game they made for nintendo was Starfox adventures on the camecube. ALthough they are still allowed to develop for the DS so theyve also made a few (well actually 2, a port of diddy kong racing and Viva Pinata POcket Paradise) for DS.

Also If you like Donkey Kong Country play Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. (It is a great game from EAD Tokyo who went on to create Super Mario Galaxy.)
I hope after EAD Tokyo is finished with Super Mario Galaxy 2 they would make another DK Platformer.
Oh man I never played DKC 3 I hated the characters, but I was playing the original yesterday and I remember how hard DKC2 was... Man with all those secrets, short cuts, great music, I liked DKC waaay better then Super Mario World. Please Nintendo DKC4 on WiiWare would make me cry with happiness.
I never got to play it, lol donkey kong 64 was released way too late in n64's lifespan and last donkey kong game i played was the one on snes, i seen my friends sister playing the second one on snes also lol
rare did a pretty good job on donkey kong country for snes, but nintendo's miyamoto created it.
Id like to see miyamoto make a donkey kong game again someday.

Jungle Beat was good I'm not sure if Miyamoto worked on it but the team that made Super Mario Galaxy made it before they made Galaxy and it was great IMO gamespot scored it a 7.0 but I still thought it was good you didn't need the bongo's to play it and it was a 2.5 D platformer. But the only problem they had with it was lack of replay value, it only lasts a day, and it runs out of steam halfway through.
But the first Donkey Kong Country you could beat in 2 and a Half hours.
