What happened to the Resistance 2 hype?

Cows called it teh Haloz killer. They called it graphics king. They called it FPS of the year.

Then after the latest Bonus Round on GTTV, all the industry experts basically shrugged it off as a non-event. To add insult to injury, they called Gears 2 this year's blockbuster.

Cows just can't catch a break these days. Hey, at least you have LBP. Everyone needs a DIY 3D side-scroller now and again. LOL.

OMG I knew someone would say that never happened. I'm not going to start digging up old threads but you KNOW that was said.

I still think it has the chance of being FPSOTY. There really is no other game that compares to it. Resistance is my most anticipated game of the year because all other games I was looking forward to look like they will disappoint.-Renegade

Ok, yeah you are right, it may very well be FPSOTY. But I think they've expanded the genre to all shooters, FPS & TPS alike. I'm not so sure FPS and TPS are different enough to be considered major genres of their own.

Gears of war 2 will sell more. But Resistance 2 will be the better game, there is no doubt about that!

Gears of war 2 is Gears 1.5, 10 player online, up from 8 players! Oh wow! What a difference! Gears 2 is a joke. Even the graphics arent all that impressive.

Nothing happened, Resistance 2 is still hyped AAAE.

Dude... Gears is a 6-8 hour SP/Co-op campaign.. with 5vs5 online:|

Resistance 2 is a 15-20 hour SP campaign, with a multi-tier Co-op campaign, with a Gross amount of online uptions ranging from 6vs6 to 60 players online.

I think there is just too much stuff to hype, i'm sorry man. Gears 2 really doesn't match up well to Resistance, the quality just isn't the same. Resistance 2 offers more than a 30 second joy ride, and stagnant gameplay mechanics.

Plus PS3 gamers have too much to look forward to just hype one game

Nothing happened. But with the LBP beta underway right now and it being only a couple weeks away, thats garnering more attention right now.

But when the Resistance 2 beta starts this weekend, expect a boat lad of hype threads.

Resistance is a generic FPS set in a whacked out alternate future. Halo is an epic space adventure. The only thing that could be considered epic with regard to resistance are the large 'boss' battles which are ultimately uninspired. Nothing about Resistance feels inspired. There isn't anything TERRIBLE about Resistance, but nothing stands out, and at best, a couple moments reach the polish and immersion of the Halo series. You can disagree all you want, but it is reflected in the difference in reviews and overall popularity of these two games.

who in the hell called it halo killer ? and graphics king ? Resistance was boring ! Honestly i didnt like the gameplay.Halo is by far better.Resistance 2 might be good.I believe in IGN and they said that it will definitely be a GOTY competitor.But again i have to play it myself.

I guess you have never played Gears of War in your life. It doesnt take 2-5 shots to kill someone in the game, so If the game was like 12 vs 12 or whatever, the tatics of the game wouldnt work. It's a tatic based game so 5 vs 5 is perfect for the gameplay. Stop being a fanboy.

*Shrug* The last Resistance 2 preview I read was gushing over the game, I'm personally as hyped as I've ever been seeing as how Resistance 1 had a great campaign and I'd expect R2's to be even better. :)

If you weren't impressed with the new Gears trailer, I don't even know how Resistance 2 could get you remotely excited.

It dont matter what we think.. R2 will be AAA on GS. Keep in mind kids the Cows do actually have many games they are playing right now Socom beta, LBP beta, KZ2 beta, R2 beta.. Socom, Motorstorm and LBP release over lesss than three weeks. R2 will be out in less than a month as well kids... many games for the Cows now including multiplats like Far Cry 2 (i payed for) and Fall out 3 etc...

Mark it, R2 will be AAA on GS. Im more confident in R2 getting a 9 than GEARS2 honestly.
