What happened to the Resistance 2 hype?

It dont matter what we think.. R2 will be AAA on GS. Keep in mind kids the Cows do actually have many games they are playing right now Socom beta, LBP beta, KZ2 beta, R2 beta.. Socom, Motorstorm and LBP release over lesss than three weeks. R2 will be out in less than a month as well kids... many games for the Cows now including multiplats like Far Cry 2 (i payed for) and Fall out 3 etc...

Mark it, R2 will be AAA on GS. Im more confident in R2 getting a 9 than GEARS2 honestly.

Dude... Gears is a 6-8 hour SP/Co-op campaign.. with 5vs5 online:|

Resistance 2 is a 15-20 hour SP campaign, with a multi-tier Co-op campaign, with a Gross amount of online uptions ranging from 6vs6 to 60 players online.

I think there is just too much stuff to hype, i'm sorry man. Gears 2 really doesn't match up well to Resistance, the quality just isn't the same. Resistance 2 offers more than a 30 second joy ride, and stagnant gameplay mechanics.

Plus PS3 gamers have too much to look forward to just hype one game

If any game is stagnant its resistance 2. It basically rely on cool weapons and graphical effects to make up for its mediocre gameplay. Gears 2 has the best gameplay mechanics of any shooter to date. If you list everything that Marcus Phenix can do, it'll be 2x longer than the resistance 2 main character.

Gears 2:walk, cover, roll, shoot, pick up dead enemy use as shield, flip over table use as cover, shoot more, chainsaw battle, etc.

Im not saying that Resistance 2 wont have a good story, but when you compare gears 2 gameplay to the obviously more mediocre resistance 2 gameplay mechanics, and call gears 2 stagnant, I think you need to wake up and smell the air.

Yeah, I've seen his posts praising the all-mighty Microsoft as they attempt to conquer the villains of gaming, Lords Sony and Nintendo. I do find his threads pretty funny though.

Nothing happened. But with the LBP beta underway right now and it being only a couple weeks away, thats garnering more attention right now.

But when the Resistance 2 beta starts this weekend, expect a boat lad of hype threads.

Cows called it teh Haloz killer. They called it graphics king. They called it FPS of the year.

Then after the latest Bonus Round on GTTV, all the industry experts basically shrugged it off as a non-event. To add insult to injury, they called Gears 2 this year's blockbuster.

Cows just can't catch a break these days. Hey, at least you have LBP. Everyone needs a DIY 3D side-scroller now and again. LOL.

reply to thewbecca, R2 has lot of gameplay mechanics now... u can use the bubble shield (i know its nothing new), use berserks such as go invis, double dmg but takes double damage also, and more that aren't revealed to us yet and the 8p co op is ALOT more than shoot, run, walk, shoot, u have to do alot of team work such as healing dropping ammos for teammates and tanking all the damage for the group, plus the R2 weapons add alot to the gameplay its not just the same trust me, "points toward the Auger and Bulleye"DarkNeji14

I guess you have never played Gears of War in your life. It doesnt take 2-5 shots to kill someone in the game, so If the game was like 12 vs 12 or whatever, the tatics of the game wouldnt work. It's a tatic based game so 5 vs 5 is perfect for the gameplay. Stop being a fanboy.

Resistance is a generic FPS set in a whacked out alternate future. Halo is an epic space adventure. The only thing that could be considered epic with regard to resistance are the large 'boss' battles which are ultimately uninspired. Nothing about Resistance feels inspired. There isn't anything TERRIBLE about Resistance, but nothing stands out, and at best, a couple moments reach the polish and immersion of the Halo series. You can disagree all you want, but it is reflected in the difference in reviews and overall popularity of these two games.
