Xbox LIVE has been a service since 2002, so Sony has had 8 years to improve/surpass Xbox LIVE yet year after year all they do is play follow the leader and wait for Microsoft to innovate the online space. I can't think of a single innovation Sony has made, in fact, there are still features the PSN lacks or have just recently added.

Clearly the OP is too young to remember that the Playstation went online long before the Xbox did.
And of course, the OP credits online "innovation" to the Xbox instead of the PC, where it really all began.
Sad, really, but it's about what I'd expect from an uninformed fanboy.

PC is not a console. PS1 went online? Really? First Online console i can recall is the Famicom in Japan. Genesis/Mega Drive also used a phone connection to play online, as did the Sega Saturn. Dreamcast was the first console to offer online as a console standard.[QUOTE="Dire_Weasel"][QUOTE="KittenWishes"]

If this is true OP is owned. Regardless of who went first, it was really MS who kicked it off and made it mainstream. PS2 online wasn't exactly a runaway success.Yep, true. But to be fair, it was MS who made it big.Wait microsoft invented playing online on consoles!!?? Has anyone heard of a dreamcast!?

[QUOTE="brennan7777"]Thats not what the thread is about. This thread is a "who dun it first" thread. Read the OP? Probably not. Probably too many big words for you! I asked why PSN hasn't caught up with LIVE and I also asked why Sony keep copying it. This. Sony may have attempted it first, but their first attempt wasn't exactly brilliant - and since then they've been playing catchup with MS.[QUOTE="Ravensmash"] Regardless of who went first, it was really MS who kicked it off and made it mainstream. It was an add-on and it was pathetic. PS2 didn't have Online-as-standard like the Dreamcast and Xbox did until October 2004, when the Slim launched.[QUOTE="KittenWishes"][QUOTE="IronBass"]Free online play.ChuteboxWii, PC, etc. So? The first two posts showed two things Sony has done online that they didn't "get" from MS. But they obviously didn't kill the thread, did they. Because you and I and others are still posting in it.Maybe not the thread, but the question at hand.
Get over myself? This has absolutely nothing to do with me... You asked and they answered and that's that.[QUOTE="Chutebox"]
[QUOTE="KittenWishes"]
no because you're off topic, I wasn't discussing which service came first AT ALL. Get over yourself.KittenWishes
Right...Like EVERYTHING Microsoft has done on the Xbox 360 is original. Why do people like talking about "Copying ideas" and "originality"? They should know by now that all companies copy from another, and all companies don't come out with original ideas all the time. =\Xbox LIVE has been a service since 2002, so Sony has had 8 years to improve/surpass Xbox LIVE yet year after year all they do is play follow the leader and wait for Microsoft to innovate the online space. Do we even care?
What's so weird about MS being very good at developing a fantastic OS witha great online section? Last time I checked, they were the guys developing Windows.
On the other hand, they certainly have nothing on Sony when it comes to hardware design.
