No, I don't think the Wiimote is better than the KB+M. No, I do not defend Nintendo to the death, you should know better than that. And no, science and video games are not the same thing. However, when you apply the philosophy against the Wiimote to science, the borderline stupidity of that philosophy becomes clear. The most ridiculous thing about this is the assumption that motion controls cannot get better.

789shadow

I never said anything about motion controls not getting better. I said currently they aren't at their potential and I view them as a gimmick right now. That might change when I try Motion+.

[QUOTE="RandolphScott"] Strawman. Your argument is flaccid and hollow.RandolphScott

It's one-pronged, which is the only prong neccessary, because I believe this is the basis of the entie argument.

Which is my point, your argument sucks. Have a good day with your little internet slap fights of get the last word in. I'm sure that's a very satisfying way to spend your Saturday.

Whatever, have a nice day.

If the wiimote is better for FPS then where is the FPS AAAs for the wii at?

In the same place where the $40+ million budget Wii FPS are. Also, Metroid Prime is AAA quality.

I didn't know metroid prime was a fps?

And this thread is about motion controls next gen. You're assuming that motion controls then will be the exact same as they are now. To describe that in a word, absurd. Hey, that rhymes.:P

[QUOTE="Soulja_West"][QUOTE="loco145"] The Wii mote is better than dual analog for FPS and RTS for a start (we are talking about consoles here). Also, this is the first version. I would expect improvements for the next generation. And as a retired WoW hardcore (Gladiator and Kill'Jaeden killer) I lol to all those consolites wanting a wow port.

789shadow

If the wiimote is better for FPS then where is the FPS AAAs for the wii at?

This is in theory.

No, this is a fact. (Look at PES2009 for an RTS, yes, they made Football into an sport RTS).

Fair enough. I still don't want all games to control like the Wii-mote. That just wouldn't be fun...

And motion controls won't always be like the Wiimote, so there. It's stupid to abandon a concept if the first try is a failure. It'd be like Edison giving up on the lightbulb because his first attempt at making one failed.

Motion-sensing will turn old just like any old craze, but brain-control will be leading innovation

2 points that will make it a success

1. It looks and feels cool

2. It will cater to all the lazy-ass gamers out there......possible mind-control dating service aswell (lol)

Not enough enemies, far too unlinear levels, the controls.

I think people need to be prepared for PS4 and 720 using motion controls. Go back and look at all Nintendo consoles...

1. NES (D-pad, became standard control schemefor Genesis, SNES)

2. SNES (L and R shoulder buttons. This has been utilized in the following gens.)

3. N64 (analog control. Now used as a standard. Introduced the rumble pak later on in the console's lifecycle. Now rumble is a standard)

4. GCN (wavebird. first console wireless controller that worked nearly perfectly. Now wireless is the standard.)

5. Wii (motion contols. Motion controls standard for 720 and PS4? Looks like a real possibility...)

Id be disappointed because it might make the game industry take a complete take backwards. Instead of improving on graphics, AI, and thinking of new game scenarios, companies would be spending mroe time next-gen perfecting the motion-controls than continuing on the path they've been making. Yeah, it has its faults, and we're on the point where games are reaching copy/paste designs. But it's happened in the industry before! Look at the SNES era or the N64 era! So many games tried the platformer formula, so I don't see why people complain about shooters being overdone. Trends happen, and I think with time we'll see something new. But please, let's not take a step backwards!

It's not like every developer has the magic to make every bit of their games gold, and controls--one of the most important aspects of a game--would have to be fine tuned. Do you really think that won't change the development?

lol at how people are assuming motion controls = casual games. With something as precise as wii motion plus there is an opportunity for games to move forward, of course I would like at least one company to keep the traditional method but its about time the gaming industry met some change, why motion controls, ccome on devs, SUPRISE ME

Woah Woah, stop right there, I had no idea anyone here had played with the WiMotionPlus yet. I mean what with IGN and Gamespot commenting on JUST how accurate the 1:1 controls were, I didnt think thay good old 12345678ew (nice username btw) would disagree. Oh this changes everything...

For gods sake, Are you so scared of any sign of change in an industry? I said, there should still be at least one traditional control console, besides, like I saidm Id rather something completely new came out, if the industry weren't to change, where are the improvements oing to come from? graphics? well they arent gonna get much better, If you're so afraid of going 3cm away from the status quo then fine, have your way, just dont buy anything new that changes things, its your choice.

What? Sony already has a form of motion control in their console.

And your credibility is gone when you say "M$".

Note to self: hardcore gamers hate anything new.

This. There are still some kinks to be worked out, but if every console had motion controls next gen i'd assume that they'd at least be competent. I'd still be a gamer. Saying you'd quit gaming if there were motion controls sounds as bone headed as someone seeing a N64 controller and being like, "If the N128, PS2 and Saturn 2 have analog sticks, i'm gonna quit gaming!!" Have fun I guess. When i'm running around in Halo 4 shooting people with a control interface that feels like a gun and getting energy sword kills by actually doing sword fighting, have fun "keeping it real" by twidling your thumbs in Halo 3 and refusing to believe that anything thats not the same as it was 20 years ago can't possibly be fun.

I would get a new gaming rig, and go PC only. unless it is like the PS3. I have yet to play a game with sixaxis controls that get in my way/arent optional. Sony hit the "perfect" happy medium with SIXAXIS. I hope they keep it next gen, too. but if it's anything like the wii, i'd abandon consoles all together untill the manufacturers pulled their heads from their wallets.

I dont even think Sony or MS will go the console route next gen. They will follow OnLive with a streaming service. Thats the future and where the money is. Nintendo will probably release another console because they are so behind with the times

Unless the motion sensing truely impraces something we might see in a future science fiction movie(motion sensing doesn't always means something like the Wii-mote), then no, I'll stay in PC gaming. Although I like some of the Wii games(mostly first party titles) and the way Nintendo adapts the controller to some of their games I still see it as a gimmick, as of now.

Unsurprisingly, the most popular response here will be "Quit gaming". So sad.

Funny that self-labeled `hardcore' would even consider this an option. I thought they were the ones that loved gaming most intensely and were demanding improvements in graphics, sound, gameplay, etc. Guess the casuals are the `real gamers' ....

It's obvious that many only played with motion sensing games around release - and have missed some games in the last year. I'm thinking about PES, Boom Blox] that use motion well - to think that every game needs motion sensing is idiotic [and those developers who try to force it where it's not needed, also idiotic].

Good games will not force ANY control scheme into a place it doesn't fit. I don't see games utilizing the balance board that don't need it - and would think within a year or a few that motion won't be tacked onto where it doesn't belong. But to say that some games don't benefit significantly from motion ignores those games completely ...

I don't want to waggle and dance my way to victory.

I do want to be able to point and click (rts issue: solved).

That about sums it up.
