What if God Of War 3 scores less then a 9 here on gamespot?

People who were anticipating God of War 3 will play and enjoy the game anyways, and the haters who want to see it fail just because it's an exclusive will get so full of themselves acting like they're kings of SW. But will the people who will be playing the game really give a crap? It happens every time a game "flops". It's such a stupid thing that SW takes seriously. Nerd_Man

I like the God of war series. Infact, when I got my ps3 (mgs 4 bundle) the other game I purchased for it was God Of War 2. (mine unit is backwards compatible)

God of War series is also plagued with some problems:

1. The game is short. The Campaign on god of war 1 and 2 is far less then 20 hours. Infact both single player experiences are less then 15 hours

2. No replay value. Sure if you care about the useless extra's in the games, there are no branching paths and the only change you can do to the campaign is increase the difficulty.

It is simply not a value when compared to a game like mass effect 2. (25-40) hour campaing, branching paths, importing your own characters, the worry of what you do in Mass Effect 2 effects what happens in Mass effect 3, etc.

ME2 with all of that only scored a 9.0 here. It's a good chance that God of War 3 could score less then AAA here.

The God of War Collection has a lot of Replay Value with the Trophies and all...

But the Gameplay is repetitive.

Length isn't an indicator of anything other than, well, length. 10 hours is considered the average, and God of War III claims to have just that. The ame itself is where the fun lies, Bioshock had about 15 hours of playtime and yet it was considered GotY by many and VERy groundbreaking.

Honestly, there is no chance GoW III gets below a 9 unless reviewers start changing standards to fit those of 12 year old CoD and Halo addicts.

gow2 was definitly long enough. 16 hours it took me, that's perfect for that type of game.

some crazy cow will find a way to get an AS50 and the 50 cal ammo and pop some into the guy's/woman/kittey head who review GOW3 and gave it an AA score.

Or it could be like when gt gave mgsiv 9.3 AND Halo 3 9.8. And It will be like the "The day gamespot lost all respect". And then they would go to youtube and rant about gamespot giving gow3 a low score.And then like 65% will leave gamespot and to ign or gametrailers. Though it might never happen. But it could.

User review scores will be quite high because they enjoy the game =) I only care about user reviews

It'll be a great game regardless, but I feel GS will complain about it being too close to SMG1 or something else.

Yeah if No More Heroes 2 didn't manage, the only AAAE I see on the Wii this year is probably Zelda. I see Other M getting a solid 8.5 as well.

Heavy Rain and Mass Effect 2 were rated lower than I expected so yeah.. I see God of War 3 getting a 9.0 AAAE though..

1) The GOW series is pretty easy on the default difficulty (Normal). Play it on Hard mode for the first playthrough (I read reviews before buying games so I noted the easy difficulty so I made it a point to play it on the hardest possible difficulty.I've done this for all the GOW games.) A harder difficulty easily increases the time - especially on a first playthrough. It's also more rewarding to play. Also, take time to appreciate the graphics of the game - it looks fantastic for a console game.

2) About replay value - if you like doing cripple runs like No Upgrade Runs, replay value won't be an issue. No Upgrade Runs (NURs) are really fun and awesome to do and ensures you utilize the combat system in the most efficent way - perfect for mastery of combat in the game despite any situation.

Another thing - It isn't fair to compare a RPG to an action adventure game.Games like Ninja Gaiden and DMC don't have any replay value (they both have terrible stories if you compare it to GOW) other than their harder difficulties for mastery. Most action adventure games barely have replay value (Batman AA,Uncharted 2 etc) so it isn't fair at all. I say the quality of a playthrough truly depends on how you choose to experience it.

I wouldn't care if GS gave GOW 3 a 7 - I'm getting the game regardless. And are you telling me an 8.0-8.5 is a bad score? That's criminal man :lol:

Ive never played a God Of War game so I dont really know about it. But I wouldnt be surprised if it got an 8.5, its not a bad score especially for a single player hack n' slash. Ill still play it anyways!

I doubt that one of the best action video game series will get less than a 9.0. Everytime a God of War game comes out, it always feels fresh as you get away from all of those shooters and get to enjoy an epic adventure. This game is going to be so much brutal fun.

It's amazing how A lot of you have judged the game before it has even been released? What if the developer was rushed, what if there are major issues in the game. Thin Gamespot should ignore problems with the game and give it a 9.0 regardless? I want a fair review.

Nobody knows how long the campaign is gonna be. If it's 10 hours or less then I have a big problem with that. Even 15 hours I feel ripped off at 59.99. I'm renting it to save myself the low replay value in my eyes.

I wouldn't give a damn. Would still buy the game, but SW would explode, perhaps more so than Heavy Rain's floppage (according to hype). Wasting time on SW criticizing a game the opposition might never play because it received less than a 9? Sounds about right.

I'd probably laugh. I don't see the big infatuation with the God of War series. I didn't care for it at all. I understand it's an extremely popular franchise and they well-made games, but I don't care for them at all. It'll most likely get AAA though.

If that happens, then I believe Kratos said it best: "There will be only CHAOS!" But I wouldn't get my hopes up for that, especially considering that the GOW Collection despite being last gen games for PS3 managed to get AAA regardless.nervmeister
