What if xbox never exist?

So, for a moment let's say that Bill Gates never wanted to enter to the gaming world, at least not as a console maker, what would you think would have happened?

IMO, PS2 would been still the beast that it is today, but the GC would probably had better sales, and more important, maybe SEGA would be still a console maker, yeah, i know that the Dreamcast was having lot of troubles by that time, but what if being the only console with an online community a game named Halo appear on the Dreamcast, interesting IMO, i mean, it would not be the huge deal that it is today, but maybe it would save SEGA's console.

And probably this gen we would have PS3 vs Dreamcast vs Nintendo, BTW, i didn't put Wii, why? well, maybe if the GC did a better job in sales we wouldn't have a Wii, we would have another Nintendo Console.

Do you think that games like GEOW and Ninja Gaiden would still exist today? the PS3 would be doing it better in sales?

So what do you think guys?

BTW, i put Xbox as an example because it was the last console to join the war.

I'd only be a PC gamer. Xbox put my faith back in console games. Also I don't think we'd see very many shooters, and the ps3 probably wouldn't of been $500

If xbox never existed then a large % of European/ Americans would still be Sony Fans

Honestly, the xbox did enter fine, but eh 360 more than anything has surpassed all my expectations, so yeah, I honeslty wouldn't game online as much. more single player

the competition wouldnt be as fierce.

PS3 would have been 800 dollars, and Sony would have said get 3 jobs to afford one.

It was also in my Official Playstation Mag issue and it said that bungie is rumored to be working on a fps by the name of "Halo."

If it wasn't for Microsoft we would of had Halo on the Sony platform.

No, Nintendo sold off its share because Rare the company that made classics didn't exist. All the main players from the company left.

And if Halo was a PC game instead... It would have been totally forgotten, what a good dream.

Microsoft supported Sega, so they would still be gone either way. The only difference for me would be that I'd be playing only on the PC and Nintendo consoles.

Still if Microsoft didn't acquire the rights to Halo then there would be a good chance for it coming to the PS2 ... more so if there was no such thing as an XBOX.

Then again, if the GC did a better job in sales, maybe Nintendo would had the money to make an HD console and what if DC2 were also an HD console.

I think that PS3 would still be the same, maybe not PSN.

The competition is what made the PS3/PSN what it is today....just as the reason why MS entered the market was due to the competition........Meaning MS saw what Sony was doing and how much revenue was to be had...

Of course there would have been a PS3..a PS3 with the same specs that we have today...no way... That's just how industry works....

There would probably be an apple iBox. Sega killed itself and it's ghost whored itself to Nintendo.
