It's pretty obvious that Nintendo just don't *do* voice acting - or at least not that much. Mario et al have dialogue, but it still tends to be very limited. Probably because their philosophy is that what you are playing is a game, not an interactive movie. Yes, there will be a plot etc., but it doesn't need to be big budget and cinematic to be good, and we all know that. Little King's Story is another example of that kind of game. It just doesn't really need a particularly chatty protagonist to work.

I admit I would be curious to hear voice acting in Zelda, even spoken by Link, but I know deep down it would never work. Nintendo play to their strengths, and it works.

Orchestral score would be great, but Zelda does not need voice acting. And I hope it never gets it.

[QUOTE="ColdP1zza"]

[QUOTE="funsohng"] okay i dont think i really want to trust nintendo with VAs now....farnham

Well Nintendo has never really been the kind of company to make games that are up to date with current standards. Their games tend to not have voice acting, little to no use of online, and their consoles have never been very good in terms of hardware. Nintendo likes to just remind people over and over again that they made some good games over a decade ago and people should never forget that. Of course they do try out new ideas like with SMG but after they've found a working formula they kinda just stick with it for a long time like Mario games, Zelda games, Metroid games, etc.

thats just hilariously missinformed. nintendos consoles of the prior generation were either equal or superior in terms of graphical power to their competitiors.. its this gen that they went with lower specs and lower price. also isnt wii sports the reason why wii sold so much? how can you say that they stick to just one thing. the games you listed mario, zelda, metroid get developed very often in comparison to other franchises like starfox, fire emblem, f zero, donkey kong and so on but right now id say nintendo is focusing on developing new ips like wii sports, wii fit and wii relax

I've owned every nintnedo console/portable since after the SNES but its true. Remember, this is only talking in terms of hardware. N64 was inferior to PS1, it still used cartridges. The GameCube looked far worse than the Xbox, and the Wii is miles behind the PS3 and 360. Also, Fire Emblem really hasn't changed, Donkey Kong games have never been any good since Donkey Kong 64, and none of the post-n64 Star Fox games have been very memorable except for the Zelda clone.

well n64 had no loading times and the graphics definately looked better then PSone and there was a very very good donkey kong game called Donkey Kong Jungle Beat http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rA2Ya3ptVa0&feature=related

**** voice acting in Zelda, I could care less. :x :P But for real, that aspect works fine for what it is. A Zelda with voice acting would actually lose a bit of the appeal to me. Orchestral music on the other hand, is something the series would really benefit from.

Voice acting has the potential to mess things up, but orchestral music would be a very welcome addition.

I rented Donkey Kong Jungle Beat when it came out, and it took like an hour to beat. Now that's just ripping off the consumers.

Screw voice acting. Orchestrated music is a must though.

Why are people against voice overs? I'd gladly welcome them, at least for major storytelling purposes, couldn't care less if Jim Bob the farmer has text, but some voices for important plot characters and cutscenes would be great.

wth are you talking about DKJB has a LOT of hidden stuff that can only be unlocked if you play the game to perfection and that takes a lot more then 1 hour.. also i doubt that it is even possible to speed run the game from the first world to the ending in 1 hour.

i dont think zelda would work as well if you had voices for all the characters. tingle for example is bearable with his basic koloo limpah. but if he begins to talk about how he is a 30 year old fairy guy with his creepy voice i would just stop playing the game

The orchestral version of Kakariko Village on the OST is awesome so I hope for that. Also I want voice acting for everyone but Link and maybe Zelda and Gannondorf.

I would be leery about a major Zelda game featuring voice-acting due to a bad taste with the Philips CD-i games.

Every game lasts like 50 hours if you want to do everything.

Because if done badly, voice acting can completely ruin a game. That's what happened for me with the FFIV remake on the DS, which on the SNES was my favourite RPG of all time. After hearing the voice acting I could not stand the game.
