Reading the descriptions being used you all are a bunch of hipsters. You insult them for playing popular games meaning you think you are special for playing games most people do not give a damn about. It is like those turds that buy music of bands no one gives a damn about mainly records cause that is even more extreme and think they are so much more edgy and hip then everyone else. The problem is not them but it is you. Anyone that plays CoD is nothing but a bro gamer and you are a cool hardcore gamer if you play jrpgs blah blah blah. Playing games with a bunch of fairy jrpg heroes does not make you a cooler, better or more of a gamer then someone that plays CoD or any of the other games.

CanYouDiglt

I think this guy is a perfect example of a bro gamer. One who thinks all niche games are bad, and only popular and shallow titles are good. Calling people hipsters for not liking things that are popular and shallow is just a weaksauce defense against the truth.

Dedicated gamers who play multiple genres and are always open to new things, whether they're popular or not, have every right to label these kinds of drones who think they're hardcore gamers just by picking up a console shooter with a bunch of violence and cursing to give off the fake impression that it's mature and manly.

If the majority of these weekend casuals didn't act so smug and unjustifiably superior, always running around claiming they're tough guys and so macho, then true gamers wouldn't have to mock them with these titles.

Actually the last CoD game I played was the first MW but I am also not a gamer hispster that needs to look down on anyone that plays different games then what I play. If you need to feel better about yourself by coming up with insulting terms for any gamer that plays different games then you then that is your choice but it seems rather immature. You just assumed because I think the term bro gamer is stupid I must only play those games but considering you are the type to use terms like bro gamer it is not shocking you also make baseless assumptions. I actually play all kinds but the majority are RPGs. Imo most (not all) people that use terms such as casual or bro gamer are elitist douchbags thinking they are somehow a more true gamer because they play a obscure title. You are just as pathetic as the people that call anyone that plays any type of game a geek or nerd.

No I assumed it because of your little rant against anything unpopular, and calling JRPGs "fairy games".

Someone who casually plays mainstream games, usually in social environments.

Nothin' wrong with that.

It's just a dumb label made up by nerdy losers who want to divide people into different "classes" of gamers to try and make themselves feel superior. These are often the same idiots who refer to themselves as "hardcore gamers". In reality the only thing they are hardcore about is being a loser, AKA "Hardcore losers".

That is the first thing that pops into my mind when I see people call themselves "hardcore gamer". Why can't we just be gamers?

A stupid label made up by fanboys because someone would dare enjoy a popular shooter or sports game.

to be fair most japanese games are weird crap

You're right. I go back long enough to remember when that wasn't the case... at some point Japanese games became a caricature of themselves, where Japanese game designers started focusing on weird crap over solid gameplay and abandoned the normal things that a game needs to be accessible.

Let me start that over. It's just another dumb elitist term like "casual" or "hardcore" that gets thrown around to make one feel a cut above everyone because of the games he plays.

A gamer whose mainly plays on the Xbox 360, whose game catalog includes the latest Call of Duty, Halo, Gears of War or any other military shooter, with their favorite sports games thrown in. They will usually have one game that doesn't meet those requirements but to quote them, "that **** sucks bra". A bro gamer will usually be seen on his couch with any combination of chips, red bull and beer talking trash to noobz and pwning little **** To be fair a bro gamer is no different from movie go'ers that only watch the summer blockbusters, or people that only listen to whats on the radio, at least thats how i look at it.

 that was hilarious

these are straight up ignorant posts....bro gamers are bro's that play games....what they are describing are ignorant gamers who happen to like madden and call of duty.... its the same thing about people stereotype gamers as....fat nerds that live with their parents. plays nothing but world of warcraft and has no social skills outside the gaming world.... geez some of you gamers are ignorant....

People that play Call of Duty, Madden, Halo (if they own a 360) and Fifa while not buying anything else throughout the year.

Kinda a stupid term but funny since a lot of my friends would be labeled as "bro gamers" by SW standards. :P

There's nothing wrong with only playing popular games, but the ones that act like unpopular games are trash are stupid assed bro gamers who don't know what they're talking about.

If they play their games and are respectful to others they're fine, but when they act like they're better than those of us who play other games, they're gonna get called out about it and put back in their place.

Look no further than all the Lemmings and half of the Cows on this board. There are some defending their stupidity in this thread. Some people in this thread especially, in another thread about asking 'what is a hardcore gamer' someone said the terms are completely wrong and gave reasonable definitions: A hardcore gamer is someone who takes gaming seriously, who will spends 40 hours a week playing an RTS or a fighter to play it competitively. And the casual on the flip side doesn't care about competition at all and just plays games to relax and chill with bros, and then some flipped their s*** because that described him.And now in this thread they're going like 'it's just another useless label for loser nerds to separate themselves from the normal people of society".

I am much more of a gamer than one who only plays one genre every once in a while. To say that we're equal would be like saying people who play basketball twice a year with neighbors are equal to Lebron James. The more you put into a hobby, the better you are at it than someone who only does it casually.

No, that's a gramer (they also play lots of Madden and Halo).

It would appear that a lot of people in her think that "bro gamer" means "gramer." The term "gramer" has been around a lot longer, so that's what the gaming community uses. "Bro gamer" sounds too positive, and only net n00bz are using it to describe gramers.

Negative, a professional can be someone who specialises in a certain area.

Much like any trade or sport, if one was to be pro at gaming they may only be specialsed in one genre as it plays on the persons strengths and ability more than others.

[QUOTE="jsmoke03"] so a pro gamer that only plays cod is a less dedicated gamer? razgriz_101

Well the scenario that was presented to me was bs because nobody at a professional level in anything is going to have such a limited experience in anything they become a professional at.

I'm sure they've been playing a plethora of gaming genres long before they became the pros they are today.

Perhaps...but I think that's a flawed analogy. Let's take a professional baseball player, for example. They might play, say, golf on the side. But 99% of their training time is probably dedicated to the sport of baseball, wouldn't you say. BTW, I'm not trying to be a pain in the a**, I'm just respectfully disagreeing that someone cannot be incredibly specialized in a profession.

The term you are all searching for (and failing to find) isGRAMER.

Gramer (grâmür)

A person who acts like a gamer but really only plays Madden, Halo, and GTA. Similar to a douche and has qualities of a jock.

"Chad plays Madden and Halo all day and knows nothing else about gamings; he's a gramer."

- The Urban Dictionary

nZqut.jpg

"Bro gamer" is a stupid phrase made up by System Wars n00bz who haven't been around long enough to know how things work in the real world of 1337 video gaming.

[QUOTE="mems_1224"][QUOTE="Bigboi500"]There's nothing wrong with only playing popular games, but the ones that act like unpopular games are trash are stupid assed bro gamers who don't know what they're talking about.

If they play their games and are respectful to others they're fine, but when they act like they're better than those of us who play other games, they're gonna get called out about it and put back in their place.

Bigboi500

but you're acting like you're better than them. you're no different

I am much more of a gamer than one who only plays one genre every once in a while. To say that we're equal would be like saying people who play basketball twice a year with neighbors are equal to Lebron James. The more you put into a hobby, the better you are at it than someone who only does it casually.

No, a better analogy would be person A plays football, baseball, soccer, tennis, basketball, etc. for a combined total of 40 hours a week, while person B only plays basketball and he also plays for 40 hours a week, but only basketball. You're no better just because you play a wide variety of games.

Yes sports are a very different hobby altogether. And I have no problem with people who only play one genre, and do it infrequently. I just don't see how anyone who only plays one genre of games and limits themselves can be on the same level as someone who tries different things and prioritizes the hobby more than someone who does not.

Here comes another flawed analogy :P :just because I own a gun and hunt on occasion doesn't mean I'm a trained soldier ready for the battlefield.

I remember the term bro gamer coming from sheep. They used to go on about how the only reason someone could not like Nintendo games is because they're insecure about their manliness and security and much play games with tons of violence, blood, and cussing. Over time it involved into Gramer, which I have never heard of. I'm for using gramer instead of bro gamer.

Under that particular analogy, you would be correct. The difference is, those CoD-only gamers do not put in the time that dedicated gamers who play a wide variety of games do.

It's a silly derogatory term for people who play popular games (particularly shooters and sports games) like Call of Duty, Halo, Madden and NBA 2K.

I don't care for sports games personally but anyone who derides another gamer for playing them is stupid.

How exactly? I just said that someone who puts more time and effort into something is going to be better at it than someone who doesn't put much effort into the same thing. That's a cold hard fact.

I'm not the one claiming certain genres are for "fairys" or saying unpopular things aren't any good, but I'm ignorant? Makes no sense.

you are assuming that "bro gamers" only play these games because they aren't true gamers. You are saying people that play every genre is a true gamer. When i asked about pro gamers, you said they are sure to play other games so they don't fall in the category of bro's yet you assume that those gamers play only cod/halo/madden etc.... how can you say that about every person that games and likes cod. There are mobile games out there, there are people who have limited resources...and how can anyone be knocked down for their taste in games? gaming is gaming....to be a gamer i believe you have to love gaming enough to call yourself a gamer weather or not you like only playing 1 type of game or if you like a whole plethora of gaming. Its not in the hours because some people can only game 1 time a week or month because they have other things in their life....but a gamer is a gamer....and elitist hipsters shouldnt knock anyone for that.... but what you have been describing is an ignorant gamer. a person who only thinks one genre is good because 1. they think it is cool 2. the subject matter is masculine 3. because it is popular ... while ignoring other genre's like rpg's, rts, mmo, and dismissing them because they aren't cool or it seems to not be masculine enough...or not violent enough. there are a lot of ignorant gamers out there, but they aren't all confined to cod, madden and what you guys consider as "casual, noob friendly, bro" games....i see people in sw that are just as ignorant.....

That's what I see from posters in here who act like that. I know not everyone behaves that way, but there is a large number of knuckleheads who do. I have ignorant friends who act that way in the real world too. I just call it like I see it, based on my own experiences.

(Note: This is a parody from the hilarious Mega64, but its basically gamers who love Call of Duty and Madden and Halo and Xbox 360, the frat boys of gaming).

Best Puzzle game:

Halo Combat Evolved: Anniversary

Thats it, from now on Halo is a puzzle game.
