[QUOTE="thrones"][QUOTE="majadamus"] A hardcore gamer is:
- Someone who has a profound respect for the gaming subculture
- Someone who plays video games at least 5+ hours a day
- Will miss out on social activities to play video games
- Does not give two ***** what anyone thinks about his or her passion/obsession
- Loves almost every genre there is in video games
- Is highly opinionated when it comes to video games

This.
I disagree. I don't think how much time you spend has anything to do with your love or devotion to your hobby. I'm sure there are millions of people who play hours of games a day, but doesn't know a thing about the industry, the developers or the company who released the game.
Someone can go to every single football game of the local team, and still not know a thing about football or the players. They just want to be part of the crowd.
Meanwhile, I've been gaming for literally my whole life. I can't remember a time in my life when I wasn't playing videogames. I've been around since the begining of consoles and played almost every single console that has come out from then until now. But now I have a full time job, bills and morgage, a wife and kid, and responsibilities that don't allow me as much game time as I would like. I still follow the industry, know everything that is going on, and read up on everything. So am I suddenly less of a gamer than someone who knows nothing but has lots of time to play World of Warcraft or some FPS online?
Not at all. My situation is very similar to yours, except I have an unfortunate situation going on in my life right now so that I do have time to play alot. Its good mental therapy for me. :) But it certainly makes you no less a gamer than someone else because you are being responsible, as you should be. I see you on here, always well informed about the games you are talking about, passionate about the games you like, and you obviously enjoy the hell out of it. You are just as much of a gamer as I am, Zim.
