I don't hate the Wii.
I just don't become fanatic over the quirky games I see on it, and am less impressed by it than other people.
[QUOTE="air_wolf_cubed"]its called Damage Control0gh3r
Could you clarify?
Wii is selling good and has a GOTY and 3 AAA games for 08 so sony and microsoft fanboys try to shoot it down"Bcauz teh wee ez uh thret tu awll",
but seriously, I bought one, I played Wii Sports, its fun with people playing with you, got Brawl, ditto
just one problem, w/o other people its totally boring
and thats my problem, i barely even play it on the weekends with my buddies
I don't hate the Wii. I just don't believe it deserves the hype, nor am I impressed with it. it essentially feels like a GC with gimmicky controls. That's not a bad thing, I enjoyed the GC, but that said the GC got the attention it deserved... while the Wii IMHO gets more than it deserves.-RPGamer-
I would hardly call it "gimmicky." It's working. People love it. And, no one is really complaining about the controls, therefore it's an innovation in gaming.
what wii hate? all i have seen today is the lemmings and cows argue about teh graphics :oDante2710
I've seen that a lot here too. I've also seen this "OMG who cares if the PC has better graphix, it's all about the gamz u no." Wii thread~"The Wii has crappy graphix and it sux!" Ah good times, good times. :)

I agree with this guy.
I just joined the forums today and already I'm noticing that there is a lot of "Wii hate" around here. I'm curious, what is so wrong with the Wii?0gh3rI'll Tell you i happen to have a Wii. And in comparison with rreal systems like th3 360 or ps3, its just trash a cheap little gimick.
the only reason to own it is the okami remake (its a better version of the best game ever).
All its games belong on the 64. The only reason they get good scores is because people liked the older games and feel nostalgic

Real systems? You mean the console that looks like it should have been released in 1999 with the Dreamcast and breaks down at any given moment? Or the console made made by Sony that hasn't really taken off even thought it's been a year already?

Oh for crying out loud, you can't be serious?
Its not only Wii hates, its PC hate, 360 hate, PS3 hate, DS hate, PSP hate, PS2 hate, Gamecube hate, XBox hate, N64 Hate, Dreamcast Hate, PS1 Hate, SNES Hate, Genesis Hate, and so forth. Its typically fanboy hate, don't worry about it. You will get alot of it. ArisShadows
I understand that but I'm talking specifically about the "Wii hate." And while most of the reasons to hate a console are laughable at best, I think besides the excuse, "I don't like it" that any other excuse is ridiculous.

For what it is, and what it's amounted to in relation to the hype it gets... yes I would personally call it a gimmick.

Would you recommend LO to someone looking for a game like the PS Final Fantasies?
becasue the Wii is lacking in alot of different things:
power: pretty much a gamecube 1.5 in terms of power, this causes it to miss out on almost all next gen multiplats
visuals: becasue of the hardware the Wii doesnt meet todays standards in graphics and wont have the same possibillities that the other systems have in land masses, lightning, enemy count, etc..
online: no HDD, no Demos, no headset, overall lacking when compared to every other system.
games: its overall quality of its library is almost 2X less than the PS3 and even more when compared to the 360.

How do you even compare them to The dreamcast that makes little senseYes im serios, when you do something memorable (like play zelda with your brother) going though a similar expience will bring back those good memorys that what nostalga means. THe graphics, the game play, the story telling, hasn't advanced very much from mario 64 to mario galaxy

Its simply someone who don't get something so instead of allowing it, they need to rather than just dislike (or interest them), they need to spread the so called hate. Instead of simpling expressing their tastes in a tasteful way, they instead bash with the so called ridiculous reasons. Anyone is allowed to dislike or have no interest in say the Wii or whatever system, but having a hate towards it is rather silly. You won't get any answers, because its all up in opinion.
Why the hate? Jealousy pretty much is what it boils down to. Any generationg there was a console doing way better than the others, you will always see the one doing great getting plenty of hate and heat from those who don't support it. Now take that and add in the rivalary between Sony and Nintendo and there you have it. Sony fanboys are mad that their "super computer 4-D capable 1080p game library machine" is losing to something slightly better than a GameCube with a reworked controller and about a fraction of the shovelware the PS2 had.
Now you will see hate for all 3 consoles, that goes without saying, but you'll see it more so for the Wii because its not "true next generation" because it doesn't push games graphically but would rather focus on gameplay and other important matters besides looking good. The Wii is also hated because its bringing more casual gamers into the market and also giving them a fair amount of games to get them hooked on gaming and thus help the industry grow and expand. Because of course companies like Sony would never attempt to bring in "outsides" like the casuals with gimmicks like the Eye Toy, Sing Star, and the Eye of Judgement. Oh yes let's not forget that Nintendo can deliver a great game ontime or if it is delayed its for just a month or so and not a year, so people hate the Wii for that too. So basically people hate the Wii because those who own them have fun with them when the Wii should be like its more graphically powered rivals and spend forever and a year waiting for a game that was announced nearly 3 years ago and spend nearly 2 years on the market without much to show for it beyond multiplatform releases.

Not true in the least. It's been rumored that the Wii could handle The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion at medium settings. ;)

Todays standards eh? I hope you aren't referring to consoles... Right now, Crysis is the standard by which all graphics are measured against which makes your argument moot.

And why would I want all those to play casual games anyways? They would be nice features but I don't think anyone buys a Wii thinking that it's going to be a "hardcore" gaming experience with 64-150 player fragfests. Edit: Oops, I'm thinking PC here. I mean 16 player fragfests.
games: its overall quality of its library is almost 2X less than the PS3 and even more when compared to the 360.

Considering that a lot of the Wii titles have been rated highly, have sold considerable amounts, and are widely regarded invalidates that point.

How so? It looks like it should have been released with the Dreamcast, kind of self-explanatory. The design is a bit aged now if you don't understand.

When I'm playing my Wii, I'm not thinking about my first romp through Zelda. :shakehead: Also, when was Mario ever about the story? Hell, Super Mario Bros even had dated graphics by the SNES standards.

Crysis isnt today's standard, Crysis's level of graphics is not common, its currently king but no way the standard.

You only prove my point by already limiting yourself when buying a Wii.

That's not the part of the post I'm referring to. ;) Like I said, it's been rumored about the internet that it could run Oblivion on medium settings. What is more, "next gen" is just a redundant marketing term. No one except naive buyers really care about if they're games are next gen enough. They just want games that either look decent, are fun, or are a combination of both and the Wii fits that criteria obviously.

Oh because I buy a Wii, you assume that's the only console I have? I also have an Xbox 360, PS2, and PS3 along with my hand-made PC. I don't think I'm limiting myself in the least; more like expanding my tastes to include those that don't fall into the hardcore. ;)

It doesnt matter if it "might" be able to run oblivion or not the Wii is a gamecube 1.5 in terms of power, thats a fact

You clearly said that when buying a Wii no one thinks about playing online, if that isnt limiting yourself then what is? Not sure why it matters if you have a 360, PS3, or PC etc... when this is about the Wii.
That is irrelvant since the point remains that the Wii has quality titles
the point remains that the Wii is clearly lacking in quality titles like a said earlier, I never said it doesnt have any quality titles so I dont understand why you are arguing like thats what I said.0gh3r

you make a wii threat and 80% of those people that post something are wii haters but the same happened with all other systems :)
just ignore those idiots and dont give them anny atantion

There nothing wrong with being a gimmick. Don't take it has a insult. Some of the biggest changes to gaming were called gimmicks at one time or another. Most people don't know but the first NES controller was called a gimmick by many so called experts because of the arrow controls and many other aspects memory cards, rubble and so much more. I had to take a class at Devry for video game history. You learn a whole new way to look at everything that is happening now in gaming once you know the history.

it is not an innovation in gaming. 1 to 1 ratio control has existed far before the wii on PC. it just never caught on. but here the wii fails coz for lot of games the wii doesn't give tyou 1:1 controls!!! this then becomes very stupid and awkward!!
We don't hate the Wii. We hate Catz, Dogz, Walrusez, and Ligerz. :P
The problem is that the Wii is influencing developers to make crappy games like Carnival Games. Of course, developers that sink that low probably don't make the quality of games most of us would buy anyway.

ok for starterters noone here works for any of these companies! theres no money at play here.therefore been jealous for one consoles economic success is ridiculous!! also your comments on graphical power is quite false as well. graphics is about potential and immersion! the job of a good hardware is to give developers room to breath their fantasy worlds!! The wii has failed in this aspect. and the wiimote is not innovative at all. it's just the same conception as peripherals before with a different light!
ideally games should all be on PC. I mean it can handle any peripheral technology, and it gives complete freedom when it comes to your level of dedication as a gamer. if you don't play that often then you can go for a cheap PC but if you are really dedicated then you can go for the max. the number parts available is insane.so after a good look you are bound to comeup with the ideal pc for your tastes!!!

Then one can argue that it is an innovation since it has gotten millions of people to adopt movement sensitive controls. This is even more impressive when you consider the 100s of millions of PCs out there in the world.
Also, it's not the motion sensing that is the only innovation. The pointer, the ability to add peripherals to the wiimote, and the speaker on the wiimote are some of the best innovations brought about from the Wiimote.
