it's just quick, dumb, customizable fun 

The fanboy in me wants to say Demon's Souls but if it has to be absolutely the best then it's got to be Metal Gear Solid Sons of Muthafvcking Liberty.

Half-Life 2.  Everything about it was, and still is, top quality.  I just played a few hours the other day and realized how I was haivng more fun with that than any new game i've played recently.  Plus I can actually tell what is happening in the story.

Well, i'm a huge fan of specific post-apocaliptic themed games were humanity has fallen completely. Like, thousands of years into the future were modern society at the time before obliteration, is viewed sort of like a myth, or creating some sort of religion around these 'Ancients', a.k.a us. That's why i love games like Primordia, Xenogears and Panzer Dragoon Saga.

Kingdom Hearts 2 or Fallout 3 they're my favorite games.:)

If we are talking about favorites, I'm going with Diablo 2.

It just did so much right, it's still the pinnacle of the genre to this day.

I'm unable to say, as I have not played every video game in existence in order to determine that.Zeviander
