The Wii is essentially a gamecube when we are looking at the software lineup. With the NES and SNES you had a huge breadth of software forom third parties and first party. With theWii you have the OCCASIONAL first party game + the OCCASIONALquality third party game + minigames + non-games + ports. It is very hard to argue that the Wii is any cort of competition to the PS3/360 for gamers when those amchines are getting the likes of GTA4, DMC3, RE5, Quake Wars, COD2 and Assasins Creed (and a ton of exclusives as well)

I was disappointed with the GameCube's lack of games, and right now I'm even more disappointed with the Wii's lineup. Nintendo has gotten my money now, but I won't be purchasing another console from them in the future.

I had an Xbox, and now I own an Xbox 360. I'm very thankful for the Xbox/Xbox 360 because the games are great! Since the Xbox arrived on the scene, I no longer have to worry about upgrading a computer just to play the latest games.

Yea... In 2007 the 360 has 1 AAE (soon to be 0 because GRAW 2 comes out on the PC in afew fays) and only 1AAAE.

Hardware can be fixed, prices can fall. Games are done when they're done and I know which systems have the better games I like.

The hardware still hasn't been fixed after a year, the price has only fallen temporarily and there have been numerous games announced. Numerous games for both the hardcore and the casuals.

If you are saying the Wii library lacks variety, then I think you haven't look hard enough or have misplaced your corrective lenses. Every genere will be covered, if not already, by year's end. One year with every category covered is a fine deal for me. Yes, Ubisoft did flood the Wii with a rediculous number of crappy ports. There are a small number of mini-games as well, but you can't say those two categories make up the third party alone or close to it. Well, I guess you could say it, but you would be a bit wrong in doing so. Then again, this is two people's opinion on a very abstract issue.coreygames

Wii does not lack variety. Wii lacks volume and quality ESPECIALLY when looking at third parties. This is all well and good for Non-gamers who are only looking for slight experiences and the odd Mario game. It is great for nintendo fanboys who just want to play Nintendo games and are prepared to wait months for them. It is not so good for the rest of us (i.e. those whoa aren't non gamers or fanboys)

You're obviously a smart guy but you have to open your eyes to the fact that the PS3 and 360 offer a lot more for gamers. And while the Wii and its variety of titles (like Wii fit and the new Jenga game from spielberg) will deservedly sell millions that doesnt make the machine any more of a better proposition for you

What is the problem with Mario? Nintendo could make a whole new cast of characters that nobody knows, have no story behind them and put them into a sports title or party game and would accomplish no more than it would to just put the mario name and universe on it. As for Nintendo making aa new IP with new characters etc, at this point that is wishful thinking. we've seen Nintendo's new focus and it was exemplified with Wii fit.

As for me telling you to open your eyes, i didn't mean it to be construed as anything derpogatroy. I just meant that if you look at things objectively (in terms of exclusivees AND multiplats) the Wii pales next to the other consoles.

I'm fed up of responses like this. I don't even think its that good, thats not why its there. I thought it was a forgotten game that was kinda cool for an arcade shooter, I've even had people PM me with their thanks about how it reminded them of older Gamecube games.

Well, that is a definite given. It certainly cannot perform on the same level as the PS3 and 360 and will, therefore, miss out on a lot of multiplatform games, losing tremendous girth to the Wii library. This also means, though, that it will have a chance to show that it is possible for a "lesser" system to do better in comparison to the "elite" ststems if it scores better due to gameplay instead of graphics.coreygames

The Wii does nto make games "play" better it just offers a different way to control them and subsequently allows for different types of games than a standard controller. The problem is that the focus of Nintendo has shifted quite dramatically to non-games and third parties are largely following suit.

The wii is a console defined by it's exclusives. When so many of them are simplified non-gamer stuff then the Wii becomes less relevant to us gamers. at this point it is clear, that despite the presence of some real gems the Wii's software lineup is a pale imatation of either the 360 or PS3 int terms of quality and quantity of games.
