What is so great about MGS??

What is so great about MGS? seriously. It's a good game and very well done. But there are plenty of games that are just as fun. Mass Effect, Gears, Halo, Bioshock, etc are all just as good. People really need to get off MGS's jock. It's one game lol and one game I don't even like that much. The more I hear about it the more I don't like it and think it's overrated. I think I'm just going to not like it because it's annoying at this point. The same goes for Gears. When it came out all people talked about was gears. "OMG GEARS. If MGS WERE A PENIS I WOULD SUCK IT." It's the same thing. Gears was a good game for its time. There are plenty of good games. Just shut up about MGS already.

Yep first MGS on Playstation was class... Second and third.... I think Hideo Kojima just went up his own ass too much and started thinking he was a film producer. how can a game that is compromised of 50% cutscenes actually justify a score of 10. I think Gamespot have lost touch. ShimmerMan

It's a game with an incredible amount of hype, just like GTA4. It's gonna go through the honeymoon stage, just like GTA4.

Well sheesh. GTA IV is multiplatform & this is System Wars. The only people that would care would be hermits & sheep & they aren't complaining about it. Hermits will have theirs later, probably won't come to the Sheep. I think most people are too busy playing GTA IV to come in & talk about it. It takes 50(?) hours to complete whereas the Geezer game is over & done with in 5 hours. I don't even think people came in the weekend after release of GTA IV to say how they "Beat the game". The shortness of Geezer just proves it wasn't a 10...should drop to a 9 for < 5 hours of game play at $60...basically paying $12 an hour to play the Geezer.

Look at GTAIV. If MGS were multiplat everyone would love the game and we would just be arguing which version is better. Have you played MGS4? Or MGS game for that matter?

PS3 owners aren't ecstatic about the game itself, more about what it represents. MGS4 has become synonymous with the salvation of the PS3. It's one of the most hyped games of the past few years and, even moreso, an exclusive. I doubt the PS3 owners would judge it soley based off of the actual product.

You know that is only if the player is fanatically determined and has memorized everything about the game. It's called a big boss speed run. Don't mix that up with a standard playthrough.

MGS4 is my favorite game as of right now. But I think MGS4 is not for just anybody, it's for the Metal Gear fans. I just can't imagine anyone playing MGS4 as their first Metal Gear game and knowing what to do. Heck, I even had to search the internet to know how to kill some of the bosses. I wondering if anyone here knew how to kill all the bosses without searching for help over the internet or the guide book? Because I really doubt that.

Also there's a hand full of people that really feel that watching someone else play MGS4 is more fun. And I kinda agree. There were parts in the game where the screen splits and one side is a cutscene and the other is you playing, and I know its kinda hard watching a cutscene and at the same time you're trying to shoot things.

So I agree MGS4 is a 10 for the Metal Gear fans, but to your average gamer it would be more of a 9.7 or even lower but not lower than 9.0. Anyway, I really advise people that didn't play the previous games or need some refreshing, to get the Essential Metal Gear Collection for $30 bucks, and a DS3 if you don't have one you really need to get one before you play MGS4.

I've skipped all cutscenes but so far I am at act 4 and have been playing for seven hours. I am playing on very easy and trying to not get any alerts so I can get stealth camo at the end btw.Realistically it's about half and half as long as you aren't running through the stages.

I killed all the bosses in the game and it only took me one try on all the bosses except the first one (she killed me with that stupid death roll). After playing past Metal Gear games you quickly have to adapt to who you are fighting. Plus you can always ask Otacon what to do and he's usually helpful.

lol a good game and all? I'd be willing to wager you've never even played it. The game is really fantastic and there's nothing wrong with being excited about such a well done game.

*Storytelling is amazing

*Gunplay, stealth, game mechanics all well done

*The graphics are utterly fantastic without a moment of CG and you are still blown away by what you see--this game needs to be seen in motion to really be appreciated

Which boss did you need outside help on? :? The game didn't failed to drop slight hints if you were having trouble.
