The Last of Us is not a franchise
It's a good thing that you wrote down some examples because off the top of my head I wouldn't be able to think of more than 5.
Suppose I think Ratchet and Clank is pretty good but not as good as a Mario platformer.
Infamous was kinda good too... I enjoyed the Halloween special more than the 2 games. Uncharted is pretty good though I don't like half the talky stuff.
Most of them are kinda good just not fantastic.
Hmmm. I'm voting Uncharted but I'd rather see a new Ratchet and Clank, and I haven't played Sly Cooper ever.
Not Sony, unless they had the rights to the IP or something. Major Minor is made by the same people and is on the Wii.
Actually yes Sony. They do have the rights because PaRappa and Um Jammy are Sony IPs. The developer was free to do what they want, sort of like Platinum games, Rainbow Studios, or Insomniac, but the IPs stay behind. Nintendo let Pac-Man/Tekken publisher Namco make a Starfox and a Mario Kart game, but both of those games remained Nintendo IPs. Capcom created the Zelda Four Swords concept and other Zelda games for Nintendo, but those Zelda IPs remain with Nintendo. Even Tecmo got their hands on the Metroid series, although that too remained a Nintendo IP. Bungie created Halo, but the IP is not theirs to take when they left, and now they are creating a new game Destiny while new Halo games will live on with new devs 343.
This is par for the course. Recently we saw the release of Batman Arkham Origins developed by a new studio (not Rocksteady), but the IP still belongs with Warner.
Here's a SW thread from six years ago about the Parappa being a Sony IP.
Also, Sony recently pulled their own PaRappa out of retirement for an appearance in Playstation All Stars: Battle Royale. I know a lot about IPs across all the machines and even in the third party realm.
Interesting. I always thought it to be a Masaaya Matsura ? IP. I love both the IP's though. Um Jammer is MUCH better in my opinion. That game was excellent. Parappa 2 sucked though.

Yeah, Sony, like Nintendo, Capcom, and some other companies do not conduct IP business in that way. However, Masaya Matsuura's position as one of the founders of the music gaming genre will be cemented forever with those three titles (Parappa, Um Jammer, and Parappa 2). I had fun with those games playing with my lady at the time.
Sony's PaRappa was fairly popular in Japan many moons ago, it had an anime and sales were good there. Perhaps Masaya Matsuura will collaborate with Sony once again to make an Um Jammer Lammy 2 for Vita or PS4! :0
I've really enjoyed the creativity and alternate platforming experience of LBP this gen, even with innovative gems like the Mario Galaxies and old school nostalgia like the 2D Rayman.
That game doesn't get enough credit in SW, but the online aspect of it is absolutely amazing. That game just keeps giving back. 4 player single player co op is a blast too of course.

If Um Jammer 2 happens, I will buy a PS4 the day it releases.
