What is Sony's most overrated PS3 era title IYO?

Uncharted 2 continues to be the most overrated game I ever played.

You got the wrong PS3. Mine is backwards compatible and that's probably the part I like about it best.

To answer the question, Uncharted 2. But don't listen to me because I'm a super huge Uncharted hater and I just can't seem to help it. Those games really bother me for some reason, lol. If I even so much as see a photo of Nathan Drake I start vomiting, my therapist says I'm making progress though.

FYI, all PS3s have PS1 BC, so at least you've got that.

Just read a forum board, apparently you can rewind time on the firmware or something back to make it run PS2 games, but Sony will ban you from PSN as they want you to buy Remasters you already had for your PS2.

Anyway, I voted for Uncharted 2, it seems to have started off movie games and also ruined Tomb Raider forever, even though it sort of sucked when Crystal Dynamics took over.

Probably Journey. You should stick with Shinobi III, because it's better than any PS3 exclusive.

Uncharted has almost nothing of merit IMO. It is very poorly designed and incredibly overated.

I'd say Journey. It has the fewest professional reviews for a so-called GOTY.

You haven't been alive long enough then to see real movie games such as Sierra's Phantasmagoria.

That's fine. I had Phantasmagoria as well. It's one of the first games I had which had at least 4 or 5 discs. But, let's not kid ourselves. Games like it are the real movie games.

uncharted 2 for me also. i just dont get on with naughty dog games. i think igot more enjoyment out of watching someone else play the uncharted games and seeing all the cutscenes than actually playing them (though as movies they are still pretty meh. no indiana jones but i would prefer to watch them over the tomb raider movies).

i can see the appeal. i remember always looking for that game that really pushed my console at the time. at the moment if you want to show off what your shiny new playstation device can do, then you get the latest naughty dog game (unless its the vita in which case killzone mercenary is the one to go for).

but to actually sit down and play them, i can think of better games to be playing even from sonys own first party.

I never got past the second disc. ;) My wife loved Phantasmagoria though.

Not all movie games are bad. I liked Star Trek: Klingons.

@jun_aka_pekto: yeah, I feel like they are often just a variant of the adventure game genre (talking Grim Fandango, Day of the Tentacle, Zork Grand Inquisitor), which has many classics if you're into the puzzle aspect of gaming. Probably a lot of "movie games" are bad due to the video tech and acting quality not really rising to the occasion, and diverting resources away from the game design.

It's difficult not to disagree with this. Some movie games, such as Max Payne 3, are sort of ok, because slow mo shooting people in face is pretty cool. And it also has a bad dude soundtrack.

As for the person (who is factually younger), this is a literal definition against a slang derogatory term. Very silly.

Game developers didn't have much of a choice until years later when The Longest Journey appeared. Back to pixels for the genre.

I view the Uncharted games as adventure games with action sequences rather than as pure shooters. In that vein, the series was very good.

Well, all PS3s are BC though. I'm guessing you don't know much about your new machine, so I'll let you know all PS3s are BC with PS1 games, but no, only the first PS3 fat models were BC with PS2 as well.

So, take solace in the fact you can play PS1 games on your PS3 at least...although I don't use the BC on these machines as with any wear and tear over time, I like knowing I was playing that generations line up of games.

A toss up between Journey and UC3. At least Journey was a good game where as UC3 sucked.

EDIT: oh I forgot about MGS4. If it counts than that one by a mile.

It inspired Bjork, a world renown musician, to create a song. I don't know but a game that inspires artists such as Bjork can't be overrated.

3DS is a nice handheld with fantastic games, you'll enjoy it.

I enjoy my various models and the library of quality games on the 3DS.

Killzone. The entire franchise is pretty darn-tootin' bad. And their latest entry Shadowfall sets the "eat out of the garbage" standard. But yeah, it can look great at times.

Uncharted 3 critically, and in general. That game is not very good, it's average at best. Otherwise God of War 3, first half is enjoyable, 2nd half is really boring and unsatisfying. Killzone 2's controls and that god awful campaign could be a lot better, but the multiplayer itself was actually quite good. Lot of great stuff they did with character classes, and those metagames. Plus the maps were tightly thought out for that 5 game modes in 1 mode.

Either LoU or Journey... both are very good games but I certainly don't think they're as astonishing as people say. But that's just me.

UC2, I hated it I hated it I hated it, altough UC3 was nice.

Sony's decade long attempt to make a single shooter as good as any Halo or Gears title were the worst part of the PS3's 1st party. I played Resistance 1 and 2, Killzone 2, Warhawk, MAG, and at least one or two others I'm forgetting, and they were all freaking lame, meh/10 at best.

On the other hand, I don't see the point of complaining about the linear designs of Uncharted/GoW, or QTEs/cutscenes of Heavy Rain/Beyond. Those are design choices, not failures of execution. You should pretty much know if you like that or not without needing to play it. Goes back to the old "why isn't Mario Kart like Gran Turismo?" thing.

ive played uncharted 1 and i thought "they might have totally upgraded uncharted 2 graphics because 1 looks like crap"

then i played UC2 and "ugh! the graphics are the same as 1" but its a nice game, nice story, bad visuals, score 8

then i got UC3, could not go past the 2nd hour, the multiplayer looks like a bad ps2 game

sony managed to transform uncharted only weak spot in the first games (bad visuals) in his strenght with bribed reviews and game awards, but you always see what your eyes want to see...

TLOU no doubt. While it is a great, fun game, it isn't what some make it out to be. Its a great game, period. ND hasn't outdone their work in Uncharted 2 imo.
