Did the TC list one of the great things about SMG2 is story? Really? I mean ******* really? I have only played SMG1, I have yet to pick up the second one, but I am gonna just take a stab in the dark on what the story line is about. Mario is invited over to Peaches for cake, and as Mario arrives, Bowser kidnaps her and you have to collect stars so you can save her. Does that sound about right?
MGS4. I loved every second of it. I thought it was a fitting conclusion to Snake's story and it wrapped up alot of questions I had throughout the whole MGS series.
I think the TC meant that the story in SMG2 isn't such a big part of the game that it drags the game down. There can be times where having a storyline that is shallow and forced can be a weakness.Did the TC list one of the great things about SMG2 is story? Really? I mean ******* really? Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is probably the best 10/10 game this generation for me, haven't play Super Mario Galaxy 2 so I can't really say if it is better or not.
MGS4 for me. I didint like smg 1 at all and since smg 2 is basicly the same thing just with different levels and more challenges im pretty sure I would be bord to tears on it too.
GTA IV. High quality game, good replay value, decent online (Racing was surprisingly fun).
But Mass Effect 2 is my favourite game this gen, so it deserved a 10/10 in my eyes.
[QUOTE="mysterj"][QUOTE="R3FURBISHED"]I just find strange TC would mention story as one of the high point of the game, no need to get so cereal :P You want a story, then play Metal Gear Solid IV. You want grade A platforming, play Mario.Sure it did :?...who cares if the story is older and more stagnant than the iceman.
R3FURBISHED
Don't you mean grade AAAA? :P
MGS4 for sure. I'm going on my first play through of the game (not even close to beating it yet) and I already can tell its one of my favorite games of all time.
GTA IV, eh. It doesnt have that GTA feeling from VC or SA.
SMG2, i havent played yet. Even though its right in my bookshelf right next to MGS4
Logically; Metal Gear Solid 4.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 is AAAA for what it does. Obviously having a different review scale compared to the other AAAA (Well AAA too) rated games.
It uses the platforming formula perfectly and is focused around 'fun'. Fun being subjective, of course. Production value and story-wise SMG2 is not that great. (inb4 games don't need these)
Like Gamespot reviewers themselves have said. You review games by comparing it to other games on that platform. (This is why MW2 scored less on PC, this is why Oblivion scored less on PC, this is why Fallout 3 didn't get the highest score on PC etc. More importantly, why GTAIV scored less on PC!)
Grand Theft Auto IV, I simply do not understand how this even scored AAA. But I guess the reviewers loved the realistic and tamed world and story GTAIV had, and hated the FUN part in GTA.
Metal Gear Solid 4 is AAAA material all the way. From graphics to story, from gameplay to voice acting, from production values to cinematics, from soundtrack to replay value most parts are optimum. The game is kinda hit and miss here on SW, and I here a lot of people saying they preferred MGS3 over any game in the franchise. which makes me /facepalm because that also happens to be the Metal Gear game with the most comprehensive storyline. Comprehensive =/= best.
MGS4 wins this : /

so since MGS4 is a different genre then SMG2 it deserves the AAAA title more then SMG2 does where as the standards change as times goes on and SMG2 got a AAAA this year while MGS4 got it back in 08?

So this makes MGS4 a lesser game ratings wise?

im justy going by his logic. what makes MGS4 anymore AAAA then SMG2 especially since the standards"change"as the generation goes on
Gamespot is pretty picky on giving out 10s, so I would probably go with............................aah, can't make up my mind, because the only game I've played that was awarded a 10 on this site was MGS4.I've liked a lot more games then that, like Mass Effect 2, but they didn't recieve a 10 up here.
