What is the best 2D platformer ever made in your opinion?

For me it's a tie between these 2 depending on my mood. Both games are absolutely phenomenal.

Super Mario Bros. 3...with Super Mario World in a close second.

It's a hard toss up between Donkey Kong Country 2, Super Mario World and Mario Bros 3.

I'm going to have to give it to Donkey Kong Country 2 because I'm currently replaying through it again!

Defintely Super Mario World. There are a lot of absolutly great ones but nothing stands out to me quite like SMW.

Sonic 2 for me, genesis > snes!

not really :P but i was sure of it as a kid, i mean come on! it has blast freakin processing!

Super metroid most definately.

Either Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World or Yoshi's Island. I can't decide between them.

I suppose I could just pick Super Mario All-Stars on SNES since that includes SMB, SMB2, SMB: The Lost Levels, SMB3 and SMW all on one cartridge and all the NES games come with touched up graphics.

So yeah I suppose it's Super Mario All-Stars.

Super Mario World with Super Mario Bros. 3 closely behind it followed by Donkey Kong Country 2.

Another World

Trying to play Mario or Sonic after finishing Another World was like trying to play Wolfenstein3D after finishing Half-life
