Can you please recommend me the best console for 13 year old son? Right now he's playing sim city on the family computer and i want to buy him a console so me and my wife can watch movies on the computer. He's really into stuff such as star wars and sim city type games. I don't want to give him online because im concerned it might distract him from his school work. I'm curious to know what is the best console to buy for my son? Advice would be most appreciated.

If he likes games like Sim CIty you should let him keep the computer and buy him Minecraft. You and your wife get a Playstation 3 and you can watch all the DVDs, BluRays, Netflix, and downloaded movies you want. ;) If you still want to get him a console I still recommend the PS3.
a ps3 will be great for him and im fairly certain u can take control of the internet permissions with it. Sim city and starwars isnt a lot to go by though. But i would get him a ps3. Hell u could just get him a ps2 , much cheaper and more games.

Buying him a console will send him on a trip straight to mediocrity. Get him a computer.

A new computer would be too expensive. I would much prefer a cheaper console.
Buy him a Wii. He wouldn't be able to get it online even if he tried. It also has very few decent games, so you won't have to worry about your son being distracted from schoolwork.
Get him a PS3, there are a couple of lego and sim city games on it. Along with other games like Ratchet and Clank or LittleBigPlanet that he might like. I don't suggest a 360 or a Wii. The 360 is more of an online console and the Wii is just pretty boring in general.

Don't you think there's enough 13 year old boys playing Black Ops on LIVE? Its a MATURE game. Please, don't get that for you kid. I refuse to give my son online since i hear stories about childrens addictions to online games such as world of warcraft and halo.

A new computer would be too expensive. I would much prefer a cheaper console. Can you give us anymore information on the kind of games he likes? I just can't think of anything like Sim City on any of the consoles.
