What is the BEST 'Fallout' game?

Fallout 3 should be considered a futuristic Oblivion spinoff.

I haven't played the first 2 Fallout games yet. So between 3 and NV, 3 definitely wins.

"The Pitt" add-on for Fallout 3 is a really good piece of DLC.

This poll is missing fallout games.

I only wanted to cover the main games, not the expansions/extensions.

I have completed Fallout 2 and 3. Fallout 3 is good. Fallout 2 is one of the best PC games ever made. This thread reminds me that I have Fallout 1 and Tactics on GOG.com, and 1 is a game I have intended to play for years. I have the CD-Rom versions of Fallout and Fallout 2 from years ago, but Fallout did run properly work on XP, Windows 7; or Windows 8 when I installed it.

Edit: I downloaded the GOG version about an hour ago. It successfully runs which means I should have a good experience finally.

@uninspiredcup: DLC doesn't count as its own game unless it's a standalone expansion (as is it can just be included in the game it's DLC for), and nobody likes Brotherhood of Steel so it isn't missed.

The expansions/add-ons are extensions of the main games, not full sequels. So, they have no business being in the poll.

Fallout 2 took everything that made Fallout 1 great and made it even better. Fallout 3 did the exact opposite. New Vegas was good though.

Fallout 2 is my pick.

Fallout 3 is my favorite game of the series and of all times, but i think New Vegas is better overall.

Hard choice between Fallout 2 and New Vegas.. I'll go with 2, since that one i've replayed the most.

I would say 3, though the colour palette and all the underground sections you had to get through got very annoying; was still better than the rest in my eyes.

I've only played Fallout 3 and New Vegas. I prefer Fallout 3. However, I liked the setting, voice acting, and soundtrack in Fallout New Vegas more than Fallout 3.
