Yeah, just a heads up, I refuse to answer this question, I haven't made my mind up yet on whether I like Persona 5 more or Breath of the Wild.

I still have MLB The Show 2017, Sonic Mania, Yakuza Kiwami, Quake Champions, and possibly Battlefront II to rank by the end of the year though. It also kind of depends on if one of my good friends decides to upgrade his rig or get a PS4, because then he might force my hand to get another shooter or other multiplayer focused game.

I would say The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild so far. However I have only finished Resident Evil 7 and Breath of the Wild and have only played some of Halo Wars 2 and Mass Effect: Andromeda so my experience with that list of games is limited. I imagine most other people's with most of those games is limited as well.

@charizard1605: Yeah, I went in not having a clue what to expect other than going off the hype that you and others have generated for the series over the years, lol, but I think I'm starting to get it. Managing your time is kind of tough though, so I almost feel as if they expect for the player to go through the game twice.

It theoretically is possible to get a perfect run the first time around, but you need a guide and a very strict schedule. My best advice would be to ignore the min/maxing tendencies, and just focus on roleplaying for now.

@Renegade_Fury: They definitely don't expect you to hit everything on the first go. Not that it isn't possible but just because you aren't supposed to do everything the first time

That's what I've heard, so I'm trying to get over my tendency to be a completionist, but it's not easy. I've literally wasted like 7 or 8 save slots because of how paranoid I've gotten that I'm playing the game wrong, but since I think it doesn't affect the ending I should hopefully be good. >_>

there is no wrong way to play it, it wont affect the core of the ending. Really completionist runs are for ng+, you would be really pressed to do a full run on your first go

Yeah, these things won't affect your True Ending eligibility- there are two very specific triggers that affect that and the game basically warns you to save when you are about to hit those.

Only one I played is Resident Evil 7 to completion, which was good, but not GOTY good.

Wait so there's not good/bad endings in the sense that you can mess it up along the line before those obvious triggers? If so, that's awesome. I was soooo paranoid about this playing P4.

@reduc_ab_: Even P4 didn't let you mess up a True Ending until the triggers- the True Ending was only activated by not killing Namatame on 12/3, and not killing him because you felt there were some holes in the story. Then, on 3/23, you had to go to Junes after saying goodbye to everyone.

Anything else you did or did not do in the game did not count towards True Ending. In P4G, if you wanted the Golden Ending, then you needed to have maxed out the Aeon Arcana by December end, but that was it.

I've really enjoyed a lot of the smaller releases so far this year, such as Candleman, Kona & Blackwood Crossing. And Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - A Criminal Past DLC was enjoyable too.

But out of the list above, probably ME: Andromeda. Flawed, but still pretty good.

Yeah, but that didn't stop me from worrying that I was going to mess things up. I don't like looking at guides, and I'm the type that likes to play RPGs once through and "lock" in the experience, if you know what I mean. All I knew going in was that there were multiple endings. And naturally I wanted the best one. Drove me insane until........it all worked out.

Ahh. Well, I will give you two pieces of very spoiler free advice that will ensure you get the True Ending (even though the game does make it impossible to screw up, but more help can't hurt, right?):

• Never sell out your friends
• Never make a deal with your enemies

That's it. If you keep this in mind, you will get the True Ending.

Good to know! I always try to do those things anyway, or not do them, I mean. So I should be good to go. Nonetheless, thanks much for the advice. :)

It's gotta be The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild so far. 20+ hours into Persona is giving it a run for its money--very different games and difficult to compare, though.

Haven't played the kingdom hearts remasters, horizon zero dawn, night in the woods, torment: tides of numenera, styx: shards of darkness, toukiden 2, zero escape: the nonary games, or starblood arena.

Of the games released this year, enjoyed Shadow Tactics.

Zelda's going to take the cake this year in awards, I guarantee it. It's arguably Nintendo's greatest work, on a level of the SMGs. I've no doubts when GotY rolls around, Zelda's going to be at the top of the list, no contest.

I haven't played too many 2017 games. But from what I've played, Zelda, then Nioh, then whatever. Still need to finish both of those, I'm basically in the final stretch with each.

My favorite games that I've played this year are SFV and Bayonetta, but old games are old.

Yeah it looks awesome. I downloaded a demo for it last week, still need to get on that.
