What is the best third person shooter/action game of this generation?

I was debating what to put for the fourth option, but really, Metal Gear Solid IV is an action game. I mean, they force you to shoot in Acts IV and V for crying out loud!

Anyway, you can't top Resident Evil 5. It's too awesome.

Well, from the amount of time I played it, Gears was insanely fun so I'll go with that.

Gears of war "1" for me so far--but I haven't played Resident Evil 5 yet though.

Well you can play MGS4 without killing anyone, so I don't really think is belongs in the TPS/Action genre.

But eh, it gets my vote for overall action game, but for core TPS gameplay, I'd pick Gears of War.

I've had the most fun with Gears of War and RE5, but that's most likely due to co-op. They aren't bad games to play alone, but co-op games, to me, are twice as fun as single player.

Gears IMO, it really brought third person back into the mix.

MGS4 is an absolutely amazing game, definitely one of my favorite games. The reason I did not vote for MGS4 was because, in terms of being a solid TPS game, I just don't think the TPS is quite as solid as some other candidates, like Gears of War, or Dead Space (What I voted for).

wow thats a tough choice... I played and enjoyed all of them, however my favorite remains MGSIV.. amazing story,characters,visuals & good mp.. 2nd place takes it Geow2, followed by Uncharted & RE5..

Gears2. I usually prefer FPS over TPS but gears has the perfect third person gameplay imo

I was blown away with Gears of War 1 when it first came out. The gameplay was addicting and the graphics were amazing.
