Great game though, add in The Answer and it's like another 30+ hours right there.Like someones else said, i would say its Persona 3:FES. It will take around 100 hours to complete the main story, although side-quests are pretty much non-existant I guess you could argue that the S-links are quests and that the elizabeths mini task count, but they are very repetative (except a few).

The CoD series with their unlimited respawning enemys! You could sit and kill them for 100s of hours on end :P.Dr_Snood:lol: That made me chuckle.
Disgaea 3 is insanely long, likely the longest game of all time, you could easily spend thousands of hours on it before coming close to accomplishing the ultimate goal.
Perhaps the requirements should be rewritten to longest Story alone. This list seems to be getting repetitive with collecting all the items in RPGs.

Definately, its my 4th favourite game of all time. I seriously need to get around to Persona 4 soon. I've had it sitting next to me still wrapped up since launch (UK launch). Without spoiling anything, which game did you prefer story wise?
Persona 3FES, Persona 4, FallOut 3, Disgaea 1 (never played the others), Final Fantasy 12, the Witcher

alright, i already am seeing fallout 3 and oblivion, lets get this straight, oblivion takes about 20 hours for the main quest, and fo3 takes about 10, the rest is all side quests. these people are talking about games that take 100 plus hours just for the main quest.

I'm not too far in Persona 4. But I would say story wise Persona 4 definitely takes it.But you should definetly give it a go right away. Persona 4 easily beats 3 in pretty much every category.
You can get a good 200 hours each out of Baldur's Gate I and II.

am i just better than everyone at video games or something, because im seeing alot of short games like oblivon, fallout 3 and these are also very short.
I did everything in Oblivion in about 30-40 hoursThis isn't really a System Wars question... at all.
Oblivion is pretty huge, so are FFVII and VIII. There isn't really a "longest" without a significant amount being the grind.raynimrod

This question can't be answered. Any game can be infinitely long if you get stuck and just can't get passed a certain part - whether it's just too hard, or you don't know what you're supposed to do next.I know MMORPGs like ToonTown, RuneScape, and World of Warcraft take massive amounts of time to beat, but what I mean are games that are really long, but not because consist almost entirely of grinding end-game. I heard The Witcher is 70 hours long, and Fallout 3 takes a serious amount of time if you include all the side-quests.
The longest non-MMORPG games I can remember in recent history are Final Fantasy X, Twilight Princess, and... I can't think of any others right now, but those took a little longer than 50 hours to just complete the main storyline! I know games like Super Smash Brothers Brawl have really hard tasks that take forever to complete, so I suppose I'm looking mostly for adventure games from start to finish.
What is it!?

If you only completed the main quest in Oblivion, you robbed yourself of the majority of the game. The bulk of the content is in side quests, guild quests, and deadric quests.[QUOTE="guitarheroF22"][QUOTE="jasonharris48"]

Oblivion's main quest isn't even close to 20 hourswell you must have rushed through it, because thats what it took me and everyone i know to beat it.
QFT, I used to play that game over and over. I just hated getting lost in randomly generated dungeons...Daggerfall.
Fact.

Never died once.the longest but most enjoyable game ever single player was Zelda a link in the past 150 hours prob
the longest and most enjoable game ever multiplaer was HALO 2!!!! i played it for 4 years and am still playing it put in 15000 matches and 100000 kills total!!!! so prob about 2000-4000 hours
lost oddesy is pretty long i hear too with 4 disk
um The Witcher is a grind fest, that is kind of the downside of that game. It is a giant grind-fest. Like Persna 3 and Persona 4 those 2 games while great, are also grindfests. jg4xchamp
I don't remember a single point in The Witcher where you have to stop what you're doing to grind levels.
If you just play through the game normally, you'll gain all of the experience points and quest items that you need, without any grind that I can think of (sure, you might be told to 'collect ten drowner brains', but you'll kill at least 30 of those guys while doing other quests, so it's no big deal). :|
since everyone seems to mentioning the elder scrolls series over and over again I'd like to know which one should I start playing? The only one I actually playes was Oblivion and it was pretty meh
I've put in like 200 hours into Final Fantasy Tactics Advance and theres still heaps of quests to do, so that might take it for me. Unless I combine every Zelda game, then we'd be closer to well over 1000 hours. Twilight Princess was like the shortest Zelda I've ever played. Not even 40 hours worth of play with like 98% of the game unlocked.
The Oracle games however take forever if you want to do all the codes. Hmm, come to think of it, that might beat out FFTA.
I'm not sure if it's the longest no mmo game but I spend ridiculous amount of hours into Oblivion: Game of The Year Edition.
Just when you think you have done all the quests, there is more.. much more. I wonder just how many there are. It's a very, very long game. ;)
I actually remember putting a ludicrous amount of time into FFII US on Super Nintendo leveling the hell out of my characters and ultimately looking for an item called "Pink" that I never freaking found. It was in the manual, and my friend and I made sure to cover every square in the game thinking we might come across it and we never did. Still bothers me to this day.
The moral of the story is that when it comes to open-world games, specifically in the RPG genre, you're typically able to put in as many hours as you could ever want to. There's a lot of games that could end up being the longest; it's just how you play it.
