Mine has to be GTA IV on PC it still runs pretty bad to this day but when it launched it was a complete trainwreck you had to make a commandline txt. because the game read your Vram wrong and you couldn't unlock higher graphically settings also the last mission in the game was broken if your FPS was 60 or above you couldn't quick time event yourself into a helicopter sometimes binding a different key would help but not always what people had to do was download a trial version fraps and record to bring their framerate down which is insane but it worked. It took Rockstar to patch this in 2016!!! how is that for bad lol not to mention the Securom bug that still exist to this day you have to set your PC clock to August 2014 for Securom to install correctly or the game wouldn't launch.

Ha, saw the title, was about to post the exact same game.

Shit was mess with multiple layers of DRM on top of that just to piss you off that little bit more.

Seems the more things change the more bla bla bla....

Eh Red Dead?

I've been playing GTA4, and it runs fine. 60FPS maxed out. I didn't get rid of the gfwl thing, because it worked by logging in with my xbl account.

My main problem with that version is the fact they ruined Vladivostok FM.

I'll add Bully, since that game just straight up crashes and it's never been fixed. There's a fan made patch though that decreases crashing. Doesn't get rid off it.

GTA4 had a shit ton of updates.

It's original launch was like an alpha.

Glad I never experienced that. It's even worse when they don't fix it. See my edit, for example.

Yea, Bully and Manhunt also come to mind.

For one of the most commercially successful studios around, they sure are lazy fuckers.

I don't usually get games day 1, so I've avoided all the "classic" issues. The last one i got burned hard on was Betrayal at Antara - a game that looked as bad as it was buggy, and in the era before patches. One of my biggest gaming disappointments

Batman: Arkham Knight PC version ran like crap on launch all because WB outsource it to a different developer. I had issues getting the game to run and I had to lower the settings to get it running properly and the framerates were all over the place. At least it's been patch and runs good now, but that was the worst buggiest launch I experience in my gaming life time.

Batman: Arkansas Night is the only correct answer... game was so buggy that steam had to issue a no question asked refund policy regardless of your game time and eventually pulled it from steam for a while due to how broken it was...

Other honorable mentions are fallout 4, temple of elemental evils and arcanum...

Almost every console port during gen 6 to early gen 7. Most of these I buy on launch due to loving the original console release or hype. Those were so bad I just quit pc gaming for a while. Left a pretty bad impression overall and here is some of my most memorable ones that I personally encounter.

  • Resident evil 4 - controls were horrible and the graphics felt like its even worst than the ps2 ver. If I remember the game runs window mode? The same as the first 3 DMC games if I recall.
  • Saints row 2 - god this game is dumpster fire of a port. Dont think it was even playable at launch as it kept crashing after I finish a few mission, I gave up. Its horrible in every single way and I do need to mention its handled by CDPR.
  • FF7 to FF9 - Dont remember which FF but anyhow sometimes FMV dont even play. Got some weird performance issues and is not fun playing on keyboard.
  • Star wars force unleashed - the audio in this game is well, where is it? Some cutscenes is missing voices, the background music is not helping as well as it also missing in some scenes.

gta iv by some distance.

sc double agent was massively goosed too, some very funny bugs. i remember one in the hotel were you fell through the roof (solid floor) and floated very very slowly through each floor all the way to the bottom past an array of oblivious enemies. i was thankful for the level preview although a spoiler warning would've been nice. you died when you hit the bottom at 0.00000000000002mph

@freedomfreak: there is a guide on steam that restores the original soundtrack. If you want I can link it to you.

I'd also recommend the use of a color mod (the original is overly yellow) and I also used a battlefield weapon sound mod.

These small changes make the game still shine and honestly feel like GTA IV still holds up at 1080/60, and its physics are still the best in the business :)

Omg. Sweet. I'll check that out on Steam. The rest (colors, sound effects) I'm fine with. Thanks much.

Not even a past-tense, tried it a few months back, still a borderline unplayable mess.

Game sucks anyways, wish they'd release and remaster the last-gen version, so much better, true sequel to Chaos Theory.

Dark Souls 2. Didn't work. CTD until a patch like almost 2 weeks later I believe.

Resident Evil 4(Asia and Europe PC release): It lacked shaders so it looked worse than PS2.

GTA IV(PC): It simply didn't work properly. Even if you could run it at 60+fps it would lock itself to 20fps at random even if you are directly looking at a wall up close and nothing is happening around you. Also the way the some shadows were rendered was broken and you got this ugly shadows made out of little dots and with lots of shimmering, awful looking.

Splinter Cell Double Agent(PC):The game had a few known graphics and sound issues that ruined the experience, basically playing the game without sound or with strange looping and with graphic artifacts left and right. Also it had like two known game breaking bugs that wouldn't let you randomly to grab two ledges that are necessary to finish levels and the only way to "fix" it was to start a new game and hope for Saint Random to do it's job, twice.

Any Bethesda developed game ever on any platform: LOL, nuff said.

Saints Row 2 PC. There was no setting I could put the game on that made it run well. That port was a trash fire.

Homefront 2. The game would just glitch out constantly while playing. A patched fixed it later but the bad release pretty much killed any chance of a sequel.

Diablo 3 for me. I wanted to play solo only and couldn't play it for over a week because of constant server/login issues. And even after that, the game would sometimes kick me out because of time outs or connection loss.

Well for severity of bugs experienced I would probably say Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox One. Thankfully those have long since been fixed.

For number of bugs experienced then I would probably say that it’s a toss up between a number of Bethesda games in the Fallout and Elder Scrolls series. I don’t think that I ever experienced anything game breaking in them though, just a bunch of little bugs and glitches.

Kingdom Come Deliverance. I was so frustrated by this game on PS4 that I would stop playing it for a week at a time and come back periodically to see if it was playable yet.
