World of Warcraft. Back when it was an open, persistent world where you had to travel to cities/towns & call out for people to come join yoour group. Then you'd prepare & set out to the dungeon & make friendships along the way. The lore was awesome, plenty of great quests & the actual game world was/is amazing. The game's now more of an e-sport sort of setup. You can just stand in a city, enter a matchmaking system, be grouped with people you'll never meet again, often not speaking a word for the 20 minutes or so you're with them & then you're teleported right back to the city.
It's not even a shadow of its former self anymore. One benefit is I managed to get my education back on track when I quit! To this day I still wish I was back in Azeroth though, but then I remember that the game I used to love is gone anyway. There were periods, especially holidays, when I'd spend more time in WoW than I would doing other things, including sleeping. No regrets though, Vanilla & BC WoW is still the greatest game I've ever played. So many great memories.
