Which is the most immersive game that make you explore everything and indulges you in its story.

Some that come to mind are in poll please tell me if you have any different opinion.

My vote goes to bioshock the game one the most immersive worlds you will ever see,The story is quite brilliant and has many of the great quotes.

Nethack.

The overall feeling of dread and unknown, as well as very detailed gameplay mechanics (starvation/having all magic items unidentified (incl potions)/ect help make hte game more immersive). Unlike most games, dying in nethack actually means something.

Edit: Roguelikes and mmos with meaningful death penalties are the only games I actually ever felt somewhat immersed in.

Bioshock wasnt immersive at all for me because of the dull unreal-like gameplay.

I cant decide between Metroid Prime Corruption and System Shock 2. Both these games are extremely immersive, Metroid Prime has the advantage of pointer controlls that add up to the immersion but in the end System Shock 2 takes the crown for me esp. thanks to its music.

World of Warcraft. Back when it was an open, persistent world where you had to travel to cities/towns & call out for people to come join yoour group. Then you'd prepare & set out to the dungeon & make friendships along the way. The lore was awesome, plenty of great quests & the actual game world was/is amazing. The game's now more of an e-sport sort of setup. You can just stand in a city, enter a matchmaking system, be grouped with people you'll never meet again, often not speaking a word for the 20 minutes or so you're with them & then you're teleported right back to the city.

It's not even a shadow of its former self anymore. One benefit is I managed to get my education back on track when I quit! To this day I still wish I was back in Azeroth though, but then I remember that the game I used to love is gone anyway. There were periods, especially holidays, when I'd spend more time in WoW than I would doing other things, including sleeping. No regrets though, Vanilla & BC WoW is still the greatest game I've ever played. So many great memories.

Uncharted 2, it was like I in an Indiana Jones movie where I controlled the action! Also ME2 sucked me in in the first minutes of gameplay.

System Shock 2, Minecraft and Metroid Prime. Okami I would also consider due to it sucking me in for 36 hours over a 72 hour period.

I'm thinking this has to be a joke thread. Those can't be serious options for the most immersive games "ever"?

It usually happens unintentionally, and is more common when playing in the dark with headphones. If you play in a well-lit room, it can be less common.

For most of the part I agree, I too never really felt like I am in the action for most games. Of all mediums I find video games the least immersive, and books the most immersive by far.

There are exceptions to every medium of course.

Hmm, probably either Deus Ex (1 or HR) or either Half-Life game. Bioshock isn't too bad on this front, either.

Most immersive, none of the ones you posted, for me it was Silent Hill Origins as I played it with my headphones on, finnished the game and I became afraid of mirrors for like 2 or 3 weeks

Metroid Prime and Okami. I wanted to see and do everything in those two games. Fantastic visuals and music for both. I really felt involved in both Prime's atmosphere and Okami's myth tale.

The only games that truly make me feel "shut out" from reality are multiplayer games, and specifically Battelefield games. No singleplayer game is that immersive.

Easy... Killzone 3 with the Sharpshooter and 3D mode set to 'full'. I've never been so drawn into a world in my life... and the Sharpshooter actually improves my performance online and off, and the 3D just makes it feel like you are there. The gorgeous graphics and incredible sound don't hurt, either.

Penumbra Overture, Amnesia, Metroid Prime, Mirror's Edge, and Morrowind are some of the most immersive.

Just shows that first person = godly for immersion.

Of all time its probably Ocarina of Time. I used to have dreams about that game when I was a kid. It was all I ever thought about.

This gen would either Fallout 3, Metro 2033, or Demon's Souls

Bioshock really immersed me, it was an amazing experience. Dead Space is also a great contender, along with Heavy Rain and Flower.

However, Limbo is really on the top of my mind, now. It was unbelievably immersive.

Mass Effect.

Clocked around 600 hours in the first game. Still counting. Not played quite as much of the second one but I will pretty much have played it out by the time ME3 rolls around.
