lol i feel ya bro! lol theres NOTHING like playing a scary game the first time around. the fear factor is just sky high! i LOVe scary games...games so scary i gotta pause it and collect myself! thats cool! that said, i cant think of a scariest game! i scare easily too which makes these scary games much more enjoyable! its soo awesome!Dead Space 2 I had so many OMFG I AM GOING TO DIE or WHERE ARE THEY COMING FROM moments. But I think I scare easily. I found RE4 very scary the first time I played it.

Games aren't scary....anymore. I remember when i was scared of the zombies in Ocarina of Time as a kid.
It's a hard pick between the Resident Evil and Silent Hill series. Both had scares in there own ways, I must say the most litteral shock I ever has was either in...
RE2 had a few moments that almost made me crap my pants as a child.
That damn interrogation room
There is a hallway that once every few playthroughs zombie arms will pop out and try to grab you...scared me to death.
Silent Hill had alot of good ones as well
How anyone can play either series nowdays and not pine for these games in HD just makes me crazy. I want a RE2-3 HD remake in the vien of the first REmake. I would love Capcom again.
[QUOTE="JohnF111"]:| ...:? Anyway, probably Amnesia. Actually, definitely Amnesia. That junk is terrifying. It isn't scary but creepy. Your walking through this dark tower and all of a sudden you hear singing? :| Thats pretty odd and creepy. And then a gargoyle pops up and trys to kill you.Probably Demons Souls, the sounds while walking through the dark dungeons were enough for me to stop going and turn back.

I try to stay miles away from scary games, but one game that I played I thought was supposed to be action adventure and it actually turned out to be survival horror & I was pissed at the deception. That game was Batman: Arkham Asylum & I felt it was just too creepy to truly enjoy.
A close tie between System Shock 2 and Minecraft.foxhound_foxMinecraft can be terrifying when playing SP.
Nothing comes close to Amnesia. Not even Condemned 1. I'mma finish it someday! I will!!! Im gonna go play it ri-OMFG WHAT IS THAT!!! /shuts game off.
The first game to really scare me was REmake. Hey I was a kid and that game so had realisitic graphics during its time. Also didn't help my dad liked to make zombie noises and I always played in the dark. After that it was FEAR. It actually wasn't that scary but it had a ton of jumper, shock, and some really scary moments. Then I played Condemned and every turn seemed to be a OMFG WHAT WAS THAT thing. Condemned 2 didn't scare me though. It had that high-pitch whine thing you always had to find and destroy and I can't stand high-pitch noises. Gives me a massive headache. The next was Amnesia.
Also Doom 3, SH:Shattered Memories, FEAR 2, Bioshock, and Metro 2033 are worthy mentions.
I'm playing a point & click adventure game on the PC for the first time. It's a horror adventure called Dark Fall: Lost Souls. It's by far the scariest game I've ever played. I've played Amnesia, the Resident Evils, the Fatal Frames, Silent Hill 3, plus others. None of them match it. I'm about half way through and plenty of times it has made me jump in my chair. I think the way the graphics are presented: not having full control and the way it pans around and zooms in on things adds to the tension. The creepy, atmospheric settings and amazing sound helps too. It could partially be because it's the first game of that type I've played.

That's a great game. May I suggest you try Jonathan Boakes' scariest one, The Lost Crown: A Ghost Hunting Adventure after you complete that.
However, my personal favourite PC horror adventure has to definitely be Scratches. It's on Steam now, and oh man, does it keep you up in the wee hours of the night. Agustin Cordes, who designed Scratches, is working on his new game which looks even better, called Asylum.
Welcome to the awesomeness that is the PC adventure :)
Man alot of people are saying Amnesia, game deserves some credit. The only downside was it was so predictable, the game pretty much telegraphed that **** was going to go down in a certain area and the monsters just vanishing into thin air didn't help either.Jynxzor
But to make you not want to go into another room...because you know that mofo is gonna be there...
Yeah, the game deserves massive props for being able to do that.
That said, I never was scared by Fatal Frame games. Just wern't appealing at all.

Thanks. It's taken me a while to get used the whole focus on puzzle solving and making sure to thoroughly check every location for any clues and key items, but it's been a breath of fresh air for me. I'll definitely give some others a try.
A close tie between System Shock 2 and Minecraft.foxhound_foxI was about to say wtf but then I remember an especially lengthy treck where I got lost in the caves below my house. All alone, running around in dark caves for hours, with nothing but the sound of zombies and screeching spiders. It's a little maddening.
Anyway I think Amnesia and Condemned 1 took the cake for me.

I haven't really played scary games, but I'll have to go with Gears of War. The first time I encountered a Berserker, I shat bricks.
fatal frame series > silent hill series > alone in the dark 4 > FEAR 1 ..and.....sorry i find that resident evil is nothing scary at all...is just zombie and overated...

Like most people I would have to say Amnesia. 2am in the dark on my own with headphones. Understandably my pants were off because I kept S****ing in them
Amnesia certainly ... along with System Shock 2 ... oh and Silent Hill 2 was creepy
Other honourable mentions (more to do with certain levels/areas rather than the whole game)
STALKER - the Labs area .... Thief 3 - the Cradle level ... Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines - the Haunted Hotel level ... those levels really got under the skin
I don't really play scary games. When I was younger I was afraid of the Re-deads in OoT.
Though playing Thief Deadly Shadows I didn't something in one mission and I went to steal a Jacknall's Paw then out of nowhere I was killed from behind by a Treebeast I jumped because I didn't expect it.
I believe it's pretty safe to say that anyone who didn't mention Amnesia has never played it.
The monster in that game was scary at first, but I eventually became desensitized towards it. It was the writing, the scenery, and the sound in that game that really scared me.
I will never forget reading about the torture victims while standing in the room the victims were tortured in with my oil lamp barely illuminating the torture devices, and blood stains.........

It's fairly scary, though the story is too obscure to really feel chilling. I actually found Penumbra: Black Plague scarier.
The single scariest game ever probably is Silent Hill, though my fave scariest games are System Shock 2 and Scratches.
