$300, apparently (the one exception to this being the PS4, that I spent $400 on. I am never doing that again)
I paid $569.99 CAD for the PS2 back in 2002 (?) for a DRE brick and that was the last time I spent that much on a console.
Bought the 360 at $300, bought the Wii at $250, bought the PS3 at $300. Never see myself ever paying more than $300 for a console, especially now that they are being upgraded every couple years now.
I would have to say $600. Anything more than that is completely unjustifiable unless it was on par with current top of the line purpose built gaming PC's with the ability to upgrade later on. But then you might as well just have a PC. I dunno.
I get a kick out of people saying, "so you bought a launch PS3 then?" because someone will go $600 NOW. That was 10 years ago, HD was 720p and many games on PS3 didn't hit that early on. Things change in a decade
How many people said that?
$700
So I'm assuming you gobbled up the fat PS3 model?
@flyincloud1116. It was said, period. Why assume that ten years ago because of what someone is willing to spend now?
So one person translate into people. Yes, this is as nickpicky as your comment.
SW, geesh....
How is it out of line for SW? I read all the time "lems" or "cows" claimed blah, blah because someone read one person make a claim. Don't act like this doesn't happen here.
@cainetao11: Stop this. It was said out of no ill will toward kvally. You are being a child, trying to start friction for no worthy reason. If you insist on being immature then kindly leave this thread. Otherwise you are more than welcome here. Good day.
I don't see MODERATOR under your name. Its an open forum in which I am free to post. I called something out that I saw. You think that's childish, its on you.
Depends entirely on what it is and what it brings to the table, I'm not going to give you a generality when each system has to be weighed on its own.
This^^^ but if the Hardware justifies it I'm willing to pay up to $600 if the console has the games I want to play.
I expect Scorpio to come in around $450-$500 for the advertised specs but if Scorpio has a Garbage Jaguar CPU in it then it's $400 tops I'd be willing to pay for anything with a Jaguar CPU in it.
Just depends. If it is a kick-ass system, a lot. I do not have a set number. I go with my perceived value of the system.
While I did get the PS3 60GB when it was $600, not including taxes, games, and an extra controller. It was a gift, and I didn't spend my own money.
I wouldn't want to spend more than $400 at this current time. And I got my PS4 for $300 (plus a small shipping fee, no taxes). But given that inflation does grow over time, consoles some day will have to launch at $500. So I'll have to adjust to the times in the late future.
Most I ever did was $250 for the Wii. I guess I could go up to $300 if I had to. In my opinion, game graphics don't need to get any better. They already look enough like real life. Though I guess if it were up to me we'd all still be playing on NES.
No limit, if I really want it I'm gonna get it.
^ This. I would eaely pay 4-digit prices if the system is worth it and I would actually like to see some expensive but powerful consoles
At this point I would only consider a Switch at the first price drop and only if there's a solid Metroid release on it, as well as many new 8+ games.
Damn, a bunch of poor people here.
Tell me about it. Prices is of no concern for me, I know what I'm gonna get out of a console and whatever Nintendo Switch price will be, I'm buying it day one!
Or maybe they're just smart people who don't waste money on stupid things. And wouldn't it make stupid people poor to spend money without thinking about what they're doing?
$500 is the max, but I wont unless its absolutely worth it in all areas and mind blowing.
$400 is where I sit at, but even then I wait a bit for a bundle or a deal
$500, but it would have to be a beast of a console for that price. Launch xbox one wasnt worth it to me.

Yeah a penny saved is a penny earned. No sense giving away money for a minor console spec bump. Pretty sure almost everybody can buy a switch for example but don't make it a smart choice.
I'd spend up to $700 on a console. I've got stacks, son. Also, if a console launches at $250 or less I will not buy that weak sauce.

Agreed. Buying any new system without a bunch of games yet isn't a wise choice.
£400
Anything more than that and I am waiting for the games to come out first to justify it. I'd rather upgrade my GPU.
