What is the PS3's place in the market?

Wii:

-casuals/"non-gamers"

-longtime fans of Nintendo franchises like myself

-budget-concious gamers

-those looking for a new way to play games

-those interested in playing games for consoles ranging from NES - NeoGeo for $5 - $10

360:

-those who like shooters, racers, sports games

-those who want the superior version of most PS3/360 multiplats

-those willing to pay more than the Wii costs for HD gaming, but not what the PS3 costs

-those who like robust online gaming

-those who like classic arcade games with updated graphics, online leaderboards, etc.

PS3:

Sony seem to be aiming for a wide variety of people once again, just like with the PS2.

However, since they decided to put Blu-ray in, the price has turned a lot of people away initially but with time the console's price will drop and more people will find it easier to jump on board as the lineup is quite strong.

But they're definitely trying to reel in home movie addicts too, they want people to go from DVD-Blu-ray, and from PS2-PS3. It's possible, but they have a tough job ahead of them (I think they can/will do it).

Who says the 360 has all the niches and Playstation 3 doesn't? The Playstation 3 doesn't have shooters, racers and sports games?

You left out RPGs and Fighters. I guess the PS3 can hold those.
