If it influenced video games in ways no other video game has, it's probably not the industries "Thriller." Thriller didn't so much innovate as it perfected the art of pop music.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It pretty much set THE standard for Action & Adventure games for the future. It also made Lock-On Targeting popular amongst games these days.

there is no connection between the popularity of a piece of art and its quality (normal or, in your belief, inverse).

not liking something on the basis of its popularity is just as ignorant in both directions (pro-pop and anti-pop alike).

its fine if you don't like modern pop, but please don't imply that one type of music is greater then another.
