I am not talking about sales (soCOD is disqualified). I am talking about the game that has influenced modern video games in ways no other video game has. Oh yeah, and it has to be an incredible game too.

The only thing Halo did was issue in the era of casual core first person shooters.

If it influenced video games in ways no other video game has, it's probably not the industries "Thriller." Thriller didn't so much innovate as it perfected the art of pop music.

Burning-Sludge
I think some ps1 game has that title.
as for the tc i'd say a toss up bet3ween tetris, super mario bros, street Fighter IV, pong and GTA 3
Does it have to include dancing zombies?:PSpiritOfFire117Why not? MGS has a dancing Vamp, maybe he'll stop by

Comparison works then. I don't know many hardcore musicians with "Thriller" in their collection. It's called POP music for a reason.[QUOTE="Burning-Sludge"][QUOTE="Nidget"] Halo 8)MJ4040

wtf??? How does your sig know my IP adress and my internet service provider???It stores all the information in a database and then it's sold to the highest bidder.
:P
Seriously though, it does the same thing for everybody. It's just a trick meant to get a rise out of people.
Doom.Vesica_Prime
Half-Life.lundy86_4
I would say GTA 3cainetao11
All of these are good answers in my opinion.

[QUOTE="Arach666"]Doom.Period.MJ4040It doesnt have to be horror. I was talking about the album. I am aware of that, but in your post you say and I quote:-"I am talking about the game that has influenced modern video games in ways no other video game has. then it has to be wolfenstein 3d as it paved the way for doom and was the father of fps.

If you look at it that way, then Catacomb Abyss was the one that paved the way for Wolf3D...and thus is the father of all FPS.[QUOTE="cainetao11"]Comparison works then. I don't know many hardcore musicians with "Thriller" in their collection. It's called POP music for a reason.MJ4040
Dude, seriously, are you trying to diss Thriller???
I gues Van Halen isnt hardcore, because he was on Thriller.
Oh no they didn't!Zelda: OoT
there was a lot of great pop before thriller, but thriller ushered in the best of pop as we know it today.
there was a lot of great games before zelda: Oot, but that zelda ushered in the best of video games as we know it today.
thats my take on the question. hopefully after a few pages, this has already been recommended.

The only thing Halo did was issue in the era of casual core first person shooters.
Comparison works then. I don't know many hardcore musicians with "Thriller" in their collection. It's called POP music for a reason.there is no connection between the popularity of a piece of art and its quality (normal or, in your belief, inverse).
not liking something on the basis of its popularity is just as ignorant in both directions (pro-pop and anti-pop alike).
its fine if you don't like modern pop, but please don't imply that one type of music is greater then another.
