Its true Black plague its much scarier but overture especially in the end was intense. Also glad they removed the combat in black plague Thank god indeed. And by the looks of it no combat Amnesia either. :)[QUOTE="adamosmaki"][QUOTE="thespywholied"] Remove overtune :P Its only scary at first. Black plauge on the other hand... AAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGH!!!

Ugh. The combat system gave me more nightmares than the actual game itself. The hammer vs wolf early on was one of the most irritating 30 minutes of my life until I figured out that the AI cant jump on boxes.

Lol those boxes ruined the scares for me.. :(My thoughts exactly, gotta laugh at all the games mentioned so far, you have a gun, now for me that instantly makes every less scary because you just blast them..... and then theres the fact that these games are easy and just twitchers. Gamers have no idea what real interactive based fear mechanics are.[QUOTE="thespywholied"]
* Yawn* Most of these games you get a GUN.

...except Fatal Frame 2 lacked guns and had a combat system that was much scarier than any laack-of-combat system.
Fatal Frame 2 was such a freaky and brilliant game. The whole idea of having to take freaking pictures of the ghosts to kill them is such a great way to put so much more inensity and fear in the games. On top of that, the whole "pulling up the camera and going into first person view" thing brought about some incredibly frightening random moments, some unscripted and some others scripted if you did something specific.
Also, the Kiryu house is seriously one of the most awesome stories,/locations I have ever experienced in a game. The house was freaky as hell and the whole backstory with the sisters was absolute genius.

What is wrong with you people? Eternal Darkness is the scariest thing to ever grace electronic hardware if no one spoils it for you.
condemned:criminal origins HANDS DOWN
kyle_360
yea i dunno how this one isnt getting more votes.
Criminal origins was absolutely terrifying.
i would say its probably the only game that has ever actually scared me.
Forbidden Siren and Siren Blood Curse rank high on the creepiness and scare factor.

LMAO. omg i dont blame them roflNot a bad choice with Silent Hill 2, I remember some of the places in that game that made me freak out for being so over the top. Personally for me Resident Evil 2 was a bit more scarier.
...I'll never forget the dog jumping through the window in the original Resident Evil.deuce85
When I think of scary games that's the first thing that always pops in my mind. RE gets my vote. Lots of games have put "scarier content" in, but none ever actually scared me as much as RE. It's like RE built up my tolerance...
I'll agree with you TC and go with Silent Hill 2. Pyramid Head sacred the hell out of me when I was younger. Hell, he still does.
Dead Space and Doom 3 really scared me.xdude85
I tried playing SH2 (in 2010) and just couldnt stand it. Ill give it another try sometime in the future but i didnt like it. SH3 on the other hand whilst largely the same, i loved to death (in 2010). It didnt scare me at all but i enjoyed the dense and claustrophobic atmosphere.
Horror games will never scare me (same with horror movies).
For me, the scariest game i've played is Majoras Mask. Ive never felt that creeped and freaked out. OOT is up there too. For example, the forest temple music coupled with the the Wall Masters is a recipe for screams. I like the feeling of something there, but never comes instead of a quick jump thrill, because that'll never work for me. Strange......yes i know.
Recently, the game closest to making me scared is Demons Souls.

Thief Deadly Shadows. The cradle level makes it the scariest game for me.AnjunaddictI'm at that level but I took a break from that game at that level.
I also thought the Pagan Sanctuary was sort've scary I jumped right before I got to the end because a Forest Creature jumped out behind me and killed me before I could lift the curse to get the Paw that you had to get to beat the level.
I was waiting for someone to crap on Dead Space and Doom 3. I found Dead Space to be scary.SparkyProtocol

Majoras Mask is indeed disturbing and creppy, I bought the LoZ collection on the GC awhile back and I remeber looking at the moon and getting really freaked out. I bought it on the VC and it still scares me.
I agree. Although I found the Broken-neck ghost from FF1 was scary because her head was completely backwards. I also thought Silent Hill 3 was scary.Definitely Silent Hill 2 and Fatal Frame 2.
Silent Hill 2 seriously messed with your head. The time spent in the prison is a fantastic example of that. I mean I don't see how anyone can NOT be scared/disturbed by the bathroom scene you can trigger.
Fatal Frame 2 also happens to have the best ump-scares I have ever seen in a game. Will never forget when the broken-neck ghost snuck up on me. Npthing quite like randomly going into first person mode and finding an enemy RIGHT IN YOUR FACE!!!

It really had to be the original RE. I mean there was nothing like it at the time and I played it with my sister and two cousins watching it like a movie the whole time, yelling when zombies would get too close and jumping when the dogs or hunters came out of nowhere. After that I just became desensitized to horror games, lol.Javy03The game is hit or miss for people I guess. I played RE when I was like 7 years old and then 2 and 3 when they each came out and was never scared once by any of the games. Only a jump or two when something pops out. Never yelled though.
Silent Hill 3 without a doubt. Dead Space was pretty damn scary until your character becomes an unkillable powerhouse of destruction, then the game lost it's scariness.
Pac-Man. The poor little guy is stuck in a room with ghosts he can't kill only attempting to delay the inevitable.
