Battlefield 2. It was the last time I trusted Gamespot's scoring system.
I feel in love with the demo. The night before I went to pick it up, the review came out. 9.3/10, I thought: AWESOME!
Then I bought it... the DVD version didn't work... so I had to exchange it... then I installed it... when I tried to connect to a server... it crashed to desktop... I uninstalled... reinstalled... and the horror just goes on from there...
Worst. 9.3. Ever.
Even to this very day they are nerfing and unnerfing gameplay elements and adding new bugs and problems.

Same here, although I got the game to work, and enjoyed it (80 hours according to Xfire). But I grew sick of EA's tendency to break the game every time they patched it. Not to mention it's slew of bugs. SLEW.
Zoocube. Not a very high score, but a fairly favorable review.
The game wasn't terribly executed, but the idea of it was just not extremely good in the first place.

I was a big BF2 guy for a while, and the same problems have driven me away from it. At the moment, I have no FPS mp fix. I'm thinking about getting into CSS, but I've heard horror stories from that game, as well.Â

Ah Narwaffle, where's our arch foe, Eggo?
I know I'll get flamed for saying it, but Half Life 2. The game was just boring for me. It was too linear, I never had any real feeling of advancing anywhere and all the puzzles were simple and involved the grav gun. It felt like it was made in 1998 and just given improved graphics. I expected something more.pundog
The gravity gun saved Half-Life 2 for me. I was extremely compelled to play it for about the first 3 hours, then after that I lost all interest.  The gravity gun was awesome, though.

My two least favorite things about that game. Although, I most definitely utilize dolphin diving to its fullest, because you're dead if you don't.

I loved it too, I just hated how every puzzle in the game was based around it. It was just stop, take out grav gun, move something. Lather, rinse, repeat.[QUOTE="i_like_pizza"][QUOTE="pundog"]I know I'll get flamed for saying it, but Half Life 2. The game was just boring for me. Looking at the 'highest Gamespot scores-to-least enjoyed by me' ratio, I'd say that Oblivion would be number one on that list. What a horribly overrated game.PlaneforgerIf you go by that I would have to say GTA: VC
I didn't like it either, so you're not crazy. But that's not the worst. PD0 is by far the worst. I LOTHE that game, not only for how it just wasn't good, but if ruined everything that was great about the original, from the gameplay style, to the weapons, to even the characters. They took Daniel Carrington, a sophisticated businessman, and turned him into a kilt-wearing Scottish stereotype!Devil May Cry. But I think I'm just crazy, considering everyone else seems to like it.Â

I only played the Xbox version so I couldn't get episode 1. I'll look at getting the Orange Box for 360 though, Team Fortress 2 looks good.[QUOTE="Teufelhuhn"][QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]Battlefield 2. It was the last time I trusted Gamespot's scoring system.

The doesn't mean GameSpot ever encountered it. They can only be expected to go so far in terms of testing a game on multiple PC's. Â

I don't understand, you are saying the rating is wrong, yet you never even actually played the full game. They played it and reviewed it on the game.
Any by the way I had absolutely no problems with the DVD version when the game was just released. The Demo for me, however, was probably the high point for battlefield 2. THe newness of it was there and when I got battlefield 2 I was left dissapointed because it gets extremely repetitive.

Not your fault you missed them, but his other posts in this thread pointed out that he did get the game to work and played it.

The Bad: Steep hardware requirements, long load times; no way to keep track of buddies; clumsy server browser; no cooperative gameplay mode; rebinding controls can be frustrating.Â

Have you played Battlefield 2? Everybody has problems with the game. It was a common occurence for someone to get disconnected for no reason at all, and the lag is hideous, even at the 32ms ping I can achieve. It was riddled with online bugs since its launch.
