[QUOTE="DragonfireXZ95"] Those are one of the reasons I liked the EQ community so much. If something like that would have happened in WoW, that person that came along probably would have just laughed and left you there.

That's the sad thing about WoW, and it's why a lot of veteran MMO players do not like playing it. With LotRO, EVE Online, Vanguard, and of course Everquest 2 (probably the coolest community out there), a lot of people are just really willing to help. And they're not bitter about it. The only time you usually get sour lemons is those who play on a trial account or in the case of the free ones, those that stay in the game for no longer than two weeks. I know with WoW people say to "play with friends" or "play in a guild" (and this is standard in any other MMO), but one of the cooler aspects of MMOs is playing not just alongside, but with other people. After all, this is a massive multiplayer game.

[QUOTE="FrozenLiquid"][QUOTE="JediRiff"] I would pick EverQuest. But my second would be Star Wars Galaxies, too.... for a duration. Soon, the riffraff began to filter in with the d00dspeak, and it began to decay. /sniffshakmaster13

I didn't encounter that problem until NGE which was in 2005 I think.

those damn instant jedi running everywhere while i had just played a whole year to get one

LOL I TOTALLY KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT. You didn't need a lightsaber to have fun in SWG. In fact, the cool thing about it was seeing other people with a lightsaber, and knowing that they could bring about trouble (cooler in the earlier years because it was near impossible to unlock the slot). I never became a Jedi. I actually liked roleplaying a smuggler (Han Solo fan here). Admittedly I was surrounded by a lot of RPing fans in the game so yeah. It was incredibly fun while it lasted.

I'd have to say runescape only because it is the only MMORPG i've ever played.

Your list probably should have looked like this:

Age of Conan
Anarchy Online
Dark Age
EVE Online
Everquest II
Final Fantasy XI
Guild Wars
Lineage 2
LotR Online
Star Wars Galaxies
Ultima Online
Warhammer Online
World of Warcraft

I know this may not be a very popular choice with most people but Id go with FFXI. Mainly because I like a mmo that will challenge me and this was the game.

the greatest MMO ever would be EQ1. mainly for the community, and that it was actually a challenge.

i play EQ2, which i think has the best community currently.

have played EQ1, EQ2, WoW, Vanguard, Galaxies

A game that was called MU Online was the one that I liked the most. The server I played was just awesome, even if the game itself its crappy compared to WoW or other MMORPGs.

That's cool, I didn't like the camera of EQ, but no worries. EQ was a groundbreaking game as well when it came out. I was too busy playing UO at the time to appreciate it.

I just don't see the attraction of WoW, it was actually a step backwards IMO. No housing, no player loot, I can't take stuff out of my backpack and throw it on the ground, or hide it because I'm carrying too much. No boats, no player vendors, no player looting, no crazy scams, the crappy pre-made characters, can't fight while mounted, no guild wars... I can go on and on.

FragTycoon

ROFL!!! Man, I can remember hiding a backpack full of HIGH level loot, for one of my other characters to pick up! I would be biting my nails hoping someone didnt find it before I switched out, lol...

lmao! I remember doing that but I dropped 10 plat (I know, it was early on) but it fell in a snow pile and i couldn't pick it up with my other char.. I was pissed

I got stuck in a dark tunnel one because I had no light source (barbarian = blind). I spent a hour in there till a guy came along.. I said "WAITTTTT!!!!!".

He stopped and I told him my problem... needless to say he couldn't stop laughing at me. Yet he helped me get the hell out of there and get a wisp orb thingy.

So much good times with EQ. I could go on all night :P

Arg, trying to remember the land of the barbarians.... was it everfrost? Ah well, I can remember as a dark elf necro, a friend and I made that long trek for the first time, to the land of the barbarians. :D We were low level, so we had to sneak around alot, and then came that loooong tunnel. Suddenly you start hearing the howling winds, and began to see snow before you walked out to a world of frozen beauty and the music kicks in.... wow, I still get goosebumps over that. :D Ok, now I am really starting to miss EQ!!

Or what about the first time you ventured down to Lower Guk?? :D

Final Fantasy XI, it was the only MMO I was able to get into.
