What is your favourite Boss Fight ever ?!

Boss fights are usually the highlight of a game and bosses have been around for ages. Now tell me from every game you played what would be your most favourite boss fight.

I actually have 3:

Kratos vs Zues in GOW2, Naked Snake vs The Boss in MGS3 and Dante vs Vergil in DMC3.

My most favourite has to be Snake vs Boss though, this boss fight is simply amazing and jaw dropping to look at. After knowing Bosses true intentions you actually feel quite guilty for killing her even though she kicked your ass 3 times in the game. On top of that you only get 10 min to kill her otherwise the place is nuked !

p.s. ironic that the last boss in MGS3 is called the Boss

The on going series of final battles in MGS had me glued to my seat. It was thrilling from beginning to end.

Shrug.  A boss I can't remember the name of in Chrono Trigger, about 2/3 through the game.

The crocodile boss from Super Metroid... he's REALLY easy, but the first time I fought him over top of the lava... jeez.

The last boss in SotC.  It was just cool.

Actraiser 2 had some cool bosses...

Dante vs. Vergil (3rd time) from DMC3, it's one hell of a fun fight. Very hard, but because it requires excellent skill and timing (especially on DMD mode, that's just nasty). It's one of those fights where it feels like it's your fault for dying, not an unbalanced game. Same can be said for most of the game's bosses actually.

Nearly any MGS series boss, the ones I liked the most were Naked Snake vs. Young Ocelot and Raiden vs. Metal Gear RAY.

Most bosses in Treasure games, most prolifically ones from Gunstar Heroes. Seven Force is an awesome boss, it's fun fighting him with a Fire+Lightning combo on Expert.

Any boss fight in Metroid Prime (especially the Incinerator Drone, due to the kick-ass music that plays during it), Sephiroth, The End in MGS3, The Sorrow in MGS3, Ganon om Ocarina of Time...that's all I can think of right now.Verge_6

Yeah i remember fighting the last boss in Metroid Prime and thinking, dang this is one of the best bosses ever.... and ive played alot of games.

Sephiroth was pretty cool..... but I think I liked "Kefka" from FFVI better. KEFKA's Laugh RULES!

Favorite has to be MGS3 with the Boss.  The white flowers, the blood, finding the super-snakes...the best.

 The hardest fight for me has to be FFX-2 - if you've ever gone to level 101 in the vis infinito, you know what I'm talking about.  It took so long to get there and he was so hard that it was fun to beat him!

Only problem with having defeated the Weapons is that Sephiroth, when you face him, is a total wuss. :)bexarath

Instead, I just went to Sephiroth and handed him his ass in... what?  A turn?  Less than a turn?  I didn't even get to see his big moves, IIRC.

I hate boss fights. Well, badly designed Boss fights anyway, which happens to be the norm.

When Boss fights are done correctly they tend to define the gameplay and give the game a specific personality. When done poorly they show that the boss fight is an outdated convention used to bridge the gap between levels and are an excuse to put a really cheap enemy in your way to make the game just a bit longer. I find myself dreading boss fights in a game because it's usually the latter that you run into. If game levels were designed better overall there wouldn't even be a need for them at all.

Entering a small room designed to limit your movements and having an indestructible door to prevent you from leaving the small area, leaving you to fight a boss that nearly takes up all of the space and forcing you to deal with bad camera angles is NOT fun. Sure, it's not that hard to defeat the boss in most cases, but I find myself groaning everytime it happens. It feels like I've been fighting the exact same battle for over 20 years and it's tiring.

Halo was seriously lacking in the Boss fight department. I mean it had like..NONE. Whats up with that?

haha... exactly :D. 

The hardest boss I ever fought was in mushihimesama futari a shooter I have never played ultra version after getting owned by this game I almost jumped out the window. I was getting owned so bad i could not sleep and started talking to my self. Finally I took a week off from work and tried to beat the last boss.

I went 3 days with only breaks for the bathroom and food with only about 6 hours sleep at one stretch after nearly killing the last boss but always got killed at the last second on 3 or 4 tries and a couple hundred continues. I went to sleep with no bath for another 7 hours before I tried again. My room did not survive and my neighbor called the police after trashed my monitor and threw it out the window. Finally I was really desperate and did the unthinkable for me I cheated at a video game after I nearly had a nervous breakdown and finished the game on the ultra level.

By then my belly was about to explode from not taking a dump in 3 days trying to finish this game but strangely I felt great !!

Warning avoid this game or lose your sanity !!! 

Elverot from Final Fantasy VIII. It's probably not my favourite, but it's the one I always think about when someone asks "what's your favourite boss?" The whole SeeD invasion scenario on disc one is probably my favourite section of any game, rivalled only by MGS3's huge ending sequence.

Marvelous 

1. Solid Snake vs Metal Gear in MGS1
2. Kratos vs that big water-snake creature (don't know the name it's in the beginning of GOW1)
3. Nathan Hale vs Angle from R:FOM

2 spring to mind...

Level 3 on the original "R-Type".  The whole level is a giant "Boss" spaceship that you have to blow up bits of.

and...

Gunter in Deus Ex.  "Lauputin Machine"  LOL!

Gotta love the Pyramid Head fight at the end of Silent Hill 2.

But old school wise, who could forget...

The final boss of Pandemonium - Very insane in a very anarchistic way.

The final boss of Max Payne 2 - Great battle with a hectic athmosphere.

The final boss of Fallout 2 - Great, desperate battle.

Nightmare in Metroid Fusion - I just like the atmos.

Draygon in Super Metroid - Very hard, if you don't use the special trick. At least I didn't.

i know its lame, but it took me forever, and when i beat it, it was awesome. 

The Sand Dragon Colossus in SotC

The Balrog in LOTR: The Third Age

Iron Knuckles in Zelda games. (mini-bosses count right?)

And General RAAM In Gears of War. That fight isn't anyhting special, but I got respect for a guy who can keep walking while a helo gunship is pummeling him.
