If you own a decent PC the first title doesn't require much to run it.

Deathtransit

And get the enhanced edition

Sheesh, I'm on my PS3 browser. I'm getting a cheap PC soon, but it ain't capable, and I know jack about building PCs. I've had bad times with PC games, I'm leery.

Some of you make PC gaming sound so hard

E.Y.E.,The Witcher 2,Shogun 2,Diablo 3 and Red Orchestra 2. Can´t choose just one. :)

lawlessx

what's E.Y.E?

It´s a RPG/FPS hybrid developed by streumon studio with the source engine, you can check it out here.

Presonally,it´s my most awaited game of 2011(if it comes in 2011,that is...)

Well,a bunch of console games do require instalations these days(and sometimes really long ones like GT5),so it isn´t just popping the disc and pressing start.

Those were the old days of console gaming. ;)

Yeah, but if you want to get quality components and A decent powered rig, and if you don't already have a monitor, then your looking at 800 - 1,000 bucks. It's well worth the cost if you prefer pc gaming over consoles. I don't though. You're right it isn't that difficult :P

Yeah when I get a decent amount of disposable $ I want to get into PC gaming. I want a powerful rig with plenty of overhead though,so I doubt it would be that cheap.

The technology was pretty diferent, the advantage of cartridges over disc based games is primarily that the performance of the access time is adequate enough to allow direct execution from ROM. The ROM will typically be directly memory mapped into the normal address space of the system and can thus be read like normal memory. This will not only give an instantaneous load time for most games as code execution can start directly from ROM but will also typically use less physical RAM, as the data is readily available in the ROM, instead of having to be copied from slower media such as a cd/dvd rom. I do disagree about the golden age of gaming though. ;)
also,I just proved that I can copy/paste articles from wikipedia!
If you're building a monster sure. If you're going for decent rig that can run most titles on high, $500-700 would be fine. (you can find a decent monitor pretty cheap now a days) I use an Acer z233H 23 inch LCD monitor for my console gaming and PC gaming and it only cost about $150.

800-1000 is no monster. That's like a 5770 and a phenom x-4 3.2 ghz. Are you including the monitor in that price? if you are then your getting some not good and cheapo components then. 800-1000 is reasonable. Believe me I've done alot of research on parts because I was going to buy one, It just fell through though.

Brink.

It's gotten two delays so it has to be really good with all of the time they've been getting to perfect the game. Of course GT5 proved that theory wrong though...
