why don't people who make these kind of topics just do some research? PLAY A GAME!!!!

it's nintendo figurines figthing with eachother.... simple.

gearsofhalogeek

guess what.....this is a gaming message board. i asked a simple question about why the people that like this game think its so special. just because i didnt start a topic with the title: "SHEEP, AND LEMMINGS SUXORZ I MAKE LOVE TO MY PS3 EVERY NIGHT BECAUSE ITS UBER " doesnt mean it should be disreguarded.

its funny what some people want to see on these boards. ask a simple question to actual people who dont get paid for scoring a game high and you get these dweebs saying " your GAME question does not belong on this GAMING MESSAGE BOARD"

Melee was the best fighter I ever played, and the only one I really could not get bored from. I still play it to this day.

The game has near infinite replay value, and is very different and more free than any other fighter. Plus,Brawl has succeeded where Melee failed: 1-player mode. It also has wi-fi so even when your friends leave, you can start up wi-fi and still play other humans.

It's a button masher game that are open to almost everyone, and also got some memorable characters. I think it's just another solid, fun fighting game, but Nintendo fans say otherwise.

First off, ssb is nothing like power stone. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't power stone a 3D fighter that uses lifebars? I'm thinking of the right game right? SSB is a 2D fighter and the health bar is only indirectly connected to winning. Every time you get hit you get knocked around, and the more damage you have the farther you fly. Once you get knocked out of the stage you get a minus one, and the one who delivered the final blow gets a plus one, or you get a lives counter. I dont remember anything like that in power stone. Power stone just had a healthy items system like SSB does.

Also, there have been no rehashes so far. Melee expanded the original and is considered vastly superior to all but the hardcore who have a preference for the original. Brawl expands it yet again by taking away clone characters, having third party characters, online, and a more flushed out single player adventure mode. I dont think that any iteration classifies as a "rehash"

Because it's even more of a rehash of the first one. It has more skins and animations with fighting styles that involve the same 2-input execution.

Sequels is what Sheep want. Just like the whole Dolly thing. More of the same crap.

If you think this game gets old quickly, Tekken/SC won't last 10 seconds with you.

The game to me seems like a generic fighter NielsNL

There is no other game like smash bros. There's not even a fighting system that comes close to the way SSB plays.

You know what's pathetic about this forum? I read 2 pages of replies, and not one of you anwered the TC's simple question. Instead, you chose to chastise him for not having played the game, or "asking a stupid question".

Maybe it's time to grow up a little, guys.

And to the TC: I'd answer your question, but I've never played a Brawl game...

You need to have mates or a someone who wants to play with you. Thats why brawl will be awsome, you don't need a mate to play with you because you have online. No one should question SSBM awesomeness.

Captain Olimar+ Ike= SUpreme pwnage. Not to mention Snake... Anyway, I'll be laughing at all the Brawl haters if this scores GoTY. It will be a hard fight, but it is entirely possible.

It's special due to having gameplay like no other game out right now and it far more different than powerstone than some people think. It can be played casually with friends or played competitively if you devote your time to actually learning all the mechanics of the game just like other fighters. Also the game brings together nintendo's biggest mascots as well as other gaming mascots such as snake and sonic. Like another poster said, you need to try it out yourself to get the full feel for the game.

mindless? old quickly? Wow. I couldn't possibly disagree any more. SSBM is one of the only games I have gone back to as many times as I have. It's one of the only games that I feel, still lives up to today's standards. Not even Halo:CE has done that, and that would be my second pick.

Only 3 reasons i can think.

1)Make it special to guyz that liked a lot previous games of SB.

2)Make it special to guyz that are fan of nintendo icons and love them like mario zelda etc.

3)Make it special cause its another AA+ title for Wii. They aint got so many AA+ titles to be proud for,so automatically makes it special and must buy for Wii users.

I cant think other reason really. Thats my opinion though. Its a fact that nintendo games is liKe ,you gonna love them or dont even bother with them. SMG was a truly great game (im playing it with my little cousins) but was what mario is. A great platform game. But about smash....No comment... At least for me is...QQ

I owned a N64 back in the days but never got the original. Never played it too. Never played the GC iteration as well. The game to me seems like a generic fighter with cool characters. I have the feeling the hype is waaaay out of proportion. But you got to hype something as a Wii owner right; the choice is pretty limited

Well anyway, I'll be getting this game and I could be very wrong and love it of course. Want to see what all the fuss is about.

NielsNL
Generic fighter? It looks nothing like the average "Street Fighter " type fighter, which just every fighter looks like, other then the SSB series. That's one reason it's as popular as it is, it's a hell of a lot different from any other fighter.

Ive never played any of the SSBB series, and was wondering whats so special about this series? from what ive seen it looks like the old playstation POWER STONE series (i played the demo and really hated it)

so what i want to know, is, whats so special about this series, (i seriously wanna know)

grimhope

Well in my opinion there is nothing at all special about SSBB except for the insane amount of playable characters.

The game itself is boring, button mashing fun for those in the younger crowd who never experienced true fighters like Street fighter and the SNK games, and consequently suck at them.

Its typical nintendo. Make a game for the masses of people who dont have enough skill to play a game with any kind of challenge.

Actually play the game properly and you'll see it's far from a button-masher. Beats the memory game most fighter play.

No challenge?!?! Are you kidding?!?! True the principle of the game is simple. Knock the other character off the field but all the characters have unique moves and fighting styles. And alot of moves need to pulled off at just the right second for them to work. Even then alot of moves can be countered. Against a good player you are going to find even bigger challenges. Add 4 player battles and it gets even faster and tougher. Add all the crazy items and the gameplay is chaotic! You need alot of skill to play the game and not like other fighting game where you can just mash the buttons and beat the game. Honestly, where's your head at?

If this game is so boring, mindless, and simplistic, then why has it been supported by Major League Gaming and Evolution, sitting alongside titles like Halo 2, Street Fighter and MvC?

You clearly have never attempted to play Smash at a high level, and are therefore not qualified to talk about it.

powerstone?!

that's like playing R&C to see if you'd like SMG, or playing Killzone to see if you'd like Halo (maybe these examples are a bit extreme)

you should actually play smash bros

In a more generic fighter, if you use button mashing, you're probably going to hit your opponent at some point, and just might win. Button mashing in SSBM will just get you sniped out by ranged attacks, or hit by quick moves from players who actually know what they're doing.

because of the fact that gaming icons over the past year make an appearance. also it answers the hypothetical question of 'who would win if *game icon* and *game icon* fought?' (ie mario and sonic)

If you like any other Nintendo IP you'll get a kick out of playing with your fav characters against someone elses fav chracters. Thats really what SMash is all about. Add in awesome fast paced chaotic gameplay, more characters, items, stages, and modes than you could ever imagine plus online and you have one of the best games on the Wii.

we discuss games and systems, but all we see these days is: "what's so special bout....." If you can't see for yourself AFTER some info searching, the game just isn't for you.

In SSBB nintendo characters fight eachother. you knw it and i know it. it's funny, fast and there are special moves.

WOW....and........ He means whats so special about it, that all the sheep hype this game as the second coming of jesus. Whats so hard to understand about that? This looks like a kiddy game to me, I might give it a rent but it seems hyped for sure.
