I'm getting a PS3 and getting rid of my 360 so I'm just wondering what makes PSN so much worse. The only thing I can think of are parties.. Anything else? You can still have private chat with people on PSN right?

Sony has stated several time that cross game chat is in the works after PSN finally gets that, PSN will be perfect and the standard of what a decent online service should be.IT really comes down to one thing,
CROSS GAME VOICE CHAT.
That's pretty much it.
Right now, I can cross game text chat on PS3, and when the gamer gets that same game in, we Voice Chat.
On 360, it's Cross Chat all the time.
SolidTy
Xbox Live has Netflix, Parties, Netflix Parties, Cross game chat, Avatars, Games On Demand, Earlier DLC, Primetime channel like 1vs100 among many other things

And when that happens, one of the main reason's I've used Xbox Live Gold will be nullified...until then, I'm a paid member of that service.

theres still LIVE party, trueskill matchmaking. and while its not part of LIVE itself, I like playing custom soundtracks during games online or off. not to mention 360s come standard with a headset and ps3s dont. matchmaking ruined xbox live They need to go back to optimatch set up so much better than matchmaking. What makes Xbox Live so much better than PSN isn't just "cross game chat" (although that's a small part of it.) What makes XBL better is the fact that it is incredibly well designed, tightly integrated and has a bunch of server-side technology that PSN does not have.
Do you have friends with a PS3? If so, i say go try it out. Its impossible to get someone to understand the differences just by listing features because all they will see is small features that separate the two. What sets live apart is the seamless integration, and ease of use of everything. People who dont own/never tried 360 will say "cross game chat is not worth 50 bucks a year". Well, from first had experience, there is MUCH MORE that makes it better, so just go try it out before you buy it. That way you will know what youre getting into.I'm getting a PS3 and getting rid of my 360 so I'm just wondering what makes PSN so much worse. The only thing I can think of are parties.. Does Live have that? LIVE Party? Like having more people on mic chat? PSN can have at least 7 people chatting mic/video. trueskill matchmaking? Can you elaborate? The only thing PSN needs is Cross Game chat and voice messaging. Thank goodness Sony is working on that :D

1.) theres still LIVE party, 2.) trueskill matchmaking. and while its not part of LIVE itself, 3.) I like playing custom soundtracks during games online or off. 4.)not to mention 360s come standard with a headset and ps3s dont.1.) Yes, but that's not a huge deal. Sure, it's nice, but it's also huring LIVE. For instance, when I play GeoW2, no one is talking anymore. Anyways, you act as if I don't have a 360. LIVE Party is nice, but not $50 nice.
2.) Trueskill matchmaking? That's not worth $50 at all. Not even worth mentioning, the old system was better, and even then, who cares?
3.) Custom Soundracks are in many PS3 games, but like you said, that has NOTHING to do with LIVE or my post. That would be like bringing up WiFi, Browser ability, PSP connectivity, Blu-Ray, or any other such feature. You're going off track.
4.)Some 360's come with headsets standard (The Pro's are discontinued, but the ELITE's will come with them, the ARCADES Do NOT come with headsets).
BUT that's off track again. PS3's come standard with an amazing Blu-Ray player, Huge HDD's standard, Rechargeable Battery Standard, etc. again, what does that have to do with anything?
Are you trying to sell a 360, because I've had TWO 360's since 2005. I also own a PS3 obviously, do you?

You made a thread about getting one since your 360 crapped, but you never got one and I doubt you ever will, bc your a lem, but hey its cool! I had a 360, sold it, and got a PS3.The grass is greener :D

Trust me...It always happens.Well I sold my Wii, and I was underwhelmed by 360. I think PS3's exclusives interest me more. I have sold my PS2, and my Wii, and yes I do miss them, but I don't think I will miss Xbox that much because most of the games I played were on PS3, or PC already. The only thing I might be missing is the online service.. It is very well integrated and everything but to be honest, as long as I can play online with other people, it's not that much of an issue. I still enjoyed Wii's online very much. But it's just missing the social aspect that XBL made.I'm getting a PS3 and getting rid of my 360 so I'm just wondering what makes PSN so much worse. Basically the unified structure of Live plus all the content that is on i wont have to get into it cause the fanboys are gonna tell you that all of the stuff isnt needed. I say why get rid of the 360 and just get the ps3 and keep the 360 its a great combination.

If your referring to DLC, PS3 has been taking a lot of the 360s' lmao
Netfilx parties, Chat parties, among other things make it better. Yes you can still have a private chat with people on PSN. Don't recommend selling one console for another unless you absolutely see no reason for it to be around.moose_knucklerNotice,none of that stuff add to the gaming experience. So everything named is irrelevant.PSN has dedicated servers unlike Live, which actually improves the gaming experience.A note to all,you can stream to your PS3 from your PC,so if you have a Netflix account you can watch the movies on your PS3 with having to pay an extra fee to do so.
Why I like LIVE better is simple. All my friends have 360s. I have one friend with a PS3 and he doesn't play it. So I can choose to play with 10-20 people I know in real life. Or I can play on PSN with a bunch of strangers. Oh yeah, I don't even have a headset for my PS3 yet either.
[QUOTE="2-10-08"]bingo. took the words out of my mouth.More people, cross game chat, parties, events, 1v100.

I alsways find it funny that people say this.Everyone I know who owns a 360 does not pay for Live,so it's not like every 360 owner is online. It's not like you need every single Live user to play a game anyway. So once again,it's irrelevant. You act as if you need 20 million people just to play a game online.

Please don't talk about something when you clearly have no clue!!! Why would anyone listen to some annoying person on Xbox Live when all you gotta do is simply mute that person & problem is solved. Do you not have mute on PS3?It still doesnt offer cross game chat, anything other than that is simply an attempt to justify 50$ a year that the no other system has to pay to play online.AgentA-Mi6no cross game chat? not even chat while actualy PLAYING a game. thats the biggest issue i have with PSN over XBL. also the no partys thing, and all the other features that PSN dosen't get like Netflix, Facebook, 1V100, events ect.
netflix can hardly be used since it is only available in usa, and if you didn't know ps3 has had full game downloads for select games for a while. where is prototype on games on demand? there is not a single new game on it. The only worthwhile feature xbl has over psn in the cross game voice chat.Xbox Live has Netflix, Parties, Netflix Parties, Cross game chat, Avatars, Games On Demand, Earlier DLC, Primetime channel like 1vs100 among many other things

Is this seriously all the holier-than-thou Xbox Live committee can come up with? It used to be there was "no comparison," now you've got "Netflix parties." I hate to say this, bro, but I'd rather have Home than Netflix parties. And Home is the most ridiculous waste of time I've seen on Playstation 3.

Hardly do you ever play with exactly the same skill it just narrows it down to make a competitive game. For a guy with a cool name like moose knuckler (mad props), you seem to be fairly incapable of grasping my point. Exactly is obviously a relative term, I don't mean like always the exact same points, KDR, or whatever, as you do, it's just as much as it can with all the other variables taken into account. The point is that it's throwing you into a match where you're never challenged and you're never pwning noobs. Getting pwned and pwning noobs are two of the greatest aspects of online gaming. One shows you how much you suck (giving you motivation to improve) and one's just plain fun. On Xbox Live, if you get better, you play against better players. When they beat you and your KDR/points/whatever drop again, you just go back down. You never even notice the suck or the pwn.moose_knuckler
Chat parties. Honestly thats the only difference, and i dont understand sony not adding this feature, you would think that theyd want to make it so ms has nothing over them when it comes to features like tihs, it should be their first priority.
XBL only offer a couple of extra features which are NOT ESSENTIAL FOR ONLINE PLAY... (examples : party chats & cross-game chats)
As for the rest PSN & XBL are equal in terms of what is their PRIMARY use which is letting gamers play games online..They perform equally with Games/PSN offerring sometimes dedicated servers..
Any other excuses, hhmm I mean reasons fanboys will give are just sorry excuses to justify the $50 a year 'we' ( igot XBL) have to pay extra...
