Poll What should I play next!? (27 votes)

A second Avowed playthrough 7%
Pillars of Eternity 1, a continuation of the same world Avowed is set in 11%
Indiana Jones, fun first-person brawler-meets-stealth-meets-adventure game 37%
Kingdome Come: Deliverance 2: medieval sim 44%

A short while ago I made a thread about how I am going to try playing one game at a time. So far, I am really enjoying this new approach as it allows me to focus on one game, and encourages me to finish them, too. In that spirit, I thought it might be kind of nice to get recommendations from you fine folks as I get going on my next time when I finish my current one.

So I am coming towards the end of Avowed (I think), and really enjoyed my time with it. With that said, the game was a bit longer than expected and while initially I was going to replay the game as a different play-style, I was thinking might be a good idea to try something different.

Right now, the options I am considering are:

  1. Avowed: second playthrough. My first playthrough was all melee; I did the first bit sword and shield, the second bit two-handed, then swapped back to sword and shield for the last bit. Thinking of going some sort of rogue-mage build for my second playthrough, dodging around with spells and a wand to blast enemies.
  2. Pillars of Eternity 1: the first Obsidian RPG set in the same IP as Avowed, it might be a good continuation of a game world I really enjoy. On top of that, it would also be good because I tend to get a bit bored with old-school RPG's, but as I am focusing on one game at a time, this would allow me to focus on the game and complete it.
  3. Indiana Jones: I got about 4-6 hours into this game but gave it up for the whole "one game at a time" thing I adopted recently. Not sure how long the game is, but if it's only 10 or so hours it might be a good idea to finish this one up.
  4. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: definitely going to finish this at some point, but it was just a bit too big for me to make as my main game when I had so many alternatives to play when this game sort of felt like "work" at times.

I'd say go back and finish Indiana Jones just to clean that title up since you already are 4-6 hours into it...but I haven't played any of these games on your list yet...lol

Pillars of Eternity seems like a solid choice as well to still be in that game world you enjoy

I concur with Avowed being longer than anticipated especially the last section.

I'm facing a similar choice. I think I'll replay Pillars once I finish Avowed.

Pillars has significantly more lore than Avowed, and better characters and quests, and...some fairly large revelations about the world that might make you reconsider some choices in Avowed. I don't remember how the gameplay holds up, but I don't remember it being bad either.

Knowing you, I would say Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, but at the same time, if there is a reason you phased that game out. Maybe you should go for Pillars of Eternity as the setting likely interests you a lot. It is a good setting.

You just played Avowed? I'd go right to Indiana Jones to cleanse my pallet and then go into kingdom come. Two first person open world fantasy style games in a row is meh.

I wouldnt call Kingdom Come Deliverance fantasy.

It seems more like historical fiction to me.

Yeah, it's basically Red Dead Redemption 2 but medieval. Obviously it's more complex to that, but if someone wanted to sum it up I think that is close enough.

I'd call it a "medieval sim" more than anything else.

Go for Indiana Jones since you are already halfway through. I didn't enjoy it as much as many other gamers here, but it does have its moments. Certainly not GOTY for me but worth playing no matter what.

Indiana Jones if you still haven't played it. Then again a second Avowed playthrough might be warranted if you wanna do some things differently and the game is still fresh in your mind. Sometimes when I hold off a second playthrough for later I think of coming back to it without the benefit of my previous knowledge of my first run still there.

KCD2 in my opinion. My first choice would have been Avowed but a second play through sounds pointless when you haven’t played the other games. Avowed was great in my opinion, still playing it.
