What Sony needs is a PS3 ''Lite''?

You can laugh at them but the've finally gotten their games.

And with upcoming games such as Killzone 2, White Knight Chronicles, God of War 3, FF Versus XIII things don't look too shabby. However, when I stand in the console department of a store and see a X360 for 200EU, Wii for 250EU followed by a PS3 for ...400EU, you can't really ignore thinking about the fact you can almost get a X360 and Wii for the same price. :>

So what I'm trying to say is, I think it's no longer the software that lacks, but rather the expensive hardware. Which can easily be solved by simply, just like they did with every console before, making a ''Lite'' version which can be fabricated alot cheaper, and maybe leaving out some options which aren't that important to a gamer.

yes and thats what the 80 and 160 gig are the 40 gig but with bigger hard drives its quit sad actually.

They WILL make one sometime in the future, mark my words, but it's a little too early now, IMO. It's only been a little more than 2 years after launch. Also, not everyone who gets a PS3 is a gamer. Some get it just to watch Blu-Ray, you know... GodofBigMacs

Also an argument of "Most people agree with me" is anecdotal evidence at best.

Compared to the 360 or heaven forbid the Wii, yes the PS3 is selling "bad". It is no where near the point of failure or ready to close up shop on its own however.

Final Fantasy VS is only an exclusive for now, and XIII will make its way into Japan. Then you have the fact Sony lost Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed, Devil May Cry, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, among others.

Don't need to post links, if Sony cared so much about gaming they wouldn't have made the PS3 so expensive. They wouldn't have lost so many exclusives. They saw the success of PS2's DVD player and tried to recreate it with Blu-ray. Because of this, the PlayStation's 2008 holiday season will be the worst holiday season since Sega's Dreamcast. But Sony doesn't seem to mind, and they aren't doing a price drop, why? Because to them they have 18 million Blu-ray players out there, not 18 million PlayStation 3's. Blu-ray is their main selling point for PS3. 85% of Blu-ray players are PS3s.

The console is too expensive, simple. The game's library says the system is worth $40, not $400. I guess I am used to the PlayStation brand having good line ups, I remember the PS2's 2002 year (when I first got the PS2) and I remember Vice City, Shinobi, Kingdom Hearts, Ratchet and Clank,Shut Your Mouth and others. Now Sony can't even keep its own exclusives, and the games are delayed relentlessly.

PS3 is NOT fine, at all. It is selling horribly and I doubt it's going to last much longer before Sony pulls the plug, but then Sony wants to sell more Blu-ray players so they will keep it alive for the time being.

It's not just in third, but it is selling even worse than the GameCube did. But at least the GameCube made profit, the PS3 loses too much money.

I don't buy alot of games for my console, simply 'cause I don't have the time to play all of them since my education > spare time, atleast if you want to achieve something in life. So I'm just looking at a handfull of games.

X360:Halo 3 - Dead Space - Ninja Gaiden II - PGR4 - Resident Evil 5, that's it.

Actually the XBOX had some really cool games which would have made swing more to X360. Phantom Dust, Panzer Dragon Orta, Conker: Live & Reloaded, Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict. If they had released similar games I would have surely gone for the X360.

That wasn't my point, though. Sony thinks the PS3 as a Blu-ray player, not a video game system. But anyways if Sony would've went with a generic processor instead of the CELL, they still could've competed with the 360 on a pricing level.

Sony cares about it's fan because it gave us the most high tech machine available with blue ray and made sure it's product is reliable it did not rush the machine into stores to get money and screw the consumers like micrososft did instead what do you have to pay for broken scratched up disk and a whole bunch of RROD well at least you can sue microsoft and try to get your money back so you can buy a PS 3

Yeah those games came out years after they were on the Xbox 360, which shows that the other consoles just get sloppy seconds. Saint's Row 1 is not on the PS3 (was cancelled because no one wants to develop for the PS3).

Hm Bioshock came out a year after the 360 and was rumored to be on the PS3 anyways (hell GameSpot had a PS3 page for it before it was cancelled for the PS3 temporarily), and Ninja Gaiden was a remake, nothing bad really. Nothing compared to the PS3.

Such a weak list, first off you named games that aren't even out, games that suck period (Ridge Racer? Please), forgettable games, and well that's it. I just named what the 360 has NOW, and didn't need to say Ridge Racer or SOCOM for it because the 360 has stronger titles. When Resistance 2 is your best shooter, you know your system is weak.

Sony cares about it's fan because it gave us the most high tech machine available with blue ray and made sure it's product is reliable it did not rush the machine into stores to get money and screw the consumers like micrososft did instead what do you have to pay for broken scratched up disk and a whole bunch of RROD well at least you can sue microsoft and try to get your money back so you can buy a PS 3

If Sony cared so much about the fans then it wouldn't have made us pay $599 for their system, especially when they aren't paying for exclusives. They just want you to buy Blu-rays, not video games.

Yeah those games came out years after they were on the Xbox 360, which shows that the other consoles just get sloppy seconds. Saint's Row 1 is not on the PS3 (was cancelled because no one wants to develop for the PS3).

Hm Bioshock came out a year after the 360 and was rumored to be on the PS3 anyways (hell GameSpot had a PS3 page for it before it was cancelled for the PS3 temporarily), and Ninja Gaiden was a remake, nothing bad really. Nothing compared to the PS3.

Now Sony can't even keep its own exclusives, and the games are delayed relentlessly.

PS3 is NOT fine, at all. It is selling horribly and I doubt it's going to last much longer before Sony pulls the plug, but then Sony wants to sell more Blu-ray players so they will keep it alive for the time being.

It's not just in third, but it is selling even worse than the GameCube did. But at least the GameCube made profit, the PS3 loses too much money.

That wasn't my point, though. Sony thinks the PS3 as a Blu-ray player, not a video game system. But anyways if Sony would've went with a generic processor instead of the CELL, they still could've competed with the 360 on a pricing level.

The PS3 sold well, but it isn't selling well. Yeah, it sold as well as the 360 in a period where no one cares, but now it is selling bad and it will not pick up. If I ran a business, the PS3 wouldn't be in the situtation it is now. But then again, I am sure Sony forced Kutaragi to put Blu-ray in the system.
