I just can't decide between the Xbox 360 and Ps3. I like all kinds of games for both consoles. I would get an Xbox 360 but hearing about all the failures the system has really scares me away from it. I had a Ps3 a little over a year ago but sold it due to not having any games that appealed to me at the time, now there are a TON of games I want for it. I just can't decide. Let me know your opinion on which system would be smartest to purchase. (Keep in mind i don't plan on playing online)

Either or I really like both, they both have great games, I have had one xbox break on me and its a bad feeling but they repair it in a couple of weeks and your good to go, also the newer ones don't break that much anymore, my ps3 never had a problem really jsut a corrupt harddrive so I have to restore it just took about a minute

wouldn't get rid of either for the world

The 360's are actually reliable now since they redesigned the heat sink and motherboard. Only fanboys that don't actually own the system run around yelling RROD anymore. So don't let the hardware failures sway your decision either way since the 360 has the best warranty of both systems by far.

The 360 is a great console with tons of great games, and multiplats usually look better on the 360. Sure, you pay for online, but it serves the best online among the three consoles. But its marred by the much dreaded RROD.

The PS3, has tons of excellent exclusives to date and the online is free, though its services are a little behind the 360. it has blu ray too, and though I said multiplats always look better on the 360, the differences are USUALLY minimal.

The newer 360 models don't RROD nearly as much as the older models. Mine has never had a single problem!

Don't let that scare you away from a purchase.

Which ever one has the most games you're interested in. That's all there is to it. Look at current exclusives and ones coming in the future. I went with PS3 based off of the second line.

Save up and get them both \\o/

... eventualy.

That is how i did with my collection.

That way you know you won't miss out ^^

Personaly i have enjoyed my PS3 the most as a "bang for buck" system.

Blueray is nice for me at least.

You can't go wrong with either. The PS3 is also an impressive multimedia machine while the 360 is mainly for games and LIVE features which cost extra. The best thing is too buy both eventually.

Well, the 360 seems to have the strongest library of the three consoles, at this point.

Any of these consoles would be a great choice, some will come here and say Xbox, some will say Playstation 3, none of them are right, the only opinion that matters is your own.

360 is a money trap I wouldnt suggest digging your wallet into the system. I highly suggest you choose the greatest HD experience with the purchase of a PLAYSTATION 3! You will not be disappointed and there is no hidden fees

If I were you, I'd personally get a 360. But even though the PS3 is on the same level as the 360, I still prefer the 360 more.

Though inferior multiplats, and this is the generation of the multiplat.

"Inferior" is way too strong of a word. The vast majority of multiplats are the same or nearly the same. The differences that this board goes crazy over are incredibly small. In fact your TV has a bigger impact on how the game looks then the different versions because they are so close. Case in point, I have a beautiful 52 inch Sony Bravia TV and my cousin has some lesser brand name (I think Olevia) HDTV and he swears that multi-plats look way better on the PS3 because games like Resident Evil 5, Fallout 3, GTA 4 look way more vibrant and crisp (he doesn't believe me when I tell him that the 360 versions are actually considered slightly better) on my PS3 then they do on his 360.

You know what's funny, last gen RE4 was ported to the PS2 after it came out on Gamecube and everyone raved about how good it looked and how good of job Capcom did porting it. No one was bashing it for being so "inferior" and yet the differences between the PS2 version and Gamecube version were larger then even the most lopsided multiplat port. I mean, there were branches missing in the trees, the environments were more blocky, the textures were lower resolution, a lot of the dynamic lighting was removed, some of the water special effects were removed. In the end however, the PS2 version still looked good so nobody made a big deal about it. Nowadays, this board goes crazy over the smallest differences and actually try to use it as a reason why their system is so much better.

Do you have friends? If so, then find out which system most of them have and get the same. Many PS3 and 360 games rely heavily on online multiplayer to extend the life of the titles. You'll be happier playing with people you know. Don't have any friends? take that console money and throw a party. Time to introduce yourself to the neighborhood! :D

I would get a 360 the online in my opioin is better but it costs money and the 360 is cheaper. It really depends on what you want to do. Xbox has netflix, PS3 has blueray. They all have tons of great games comping out so choose wisely. OR if you're rich get both that will solve all your problems:D

From this point, I would get the PS3. It has a good variety of games out and coming out; some RPGs(White Knight Chronicles, The Last Guardian), shooters(MAG, KZ2), platformers(R&CF: ACIT, LBP), action/adventures(MGS4, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, GoW3), racers(Modnation Racers, Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, GT5) You also get a web browser and blu-ray player, and built-in wi-fi if wired isn't a feasible solution(I can't stand wires, so I went wireless). Actually, what console did you own previous gen? For example, if you want a new Halo or whatever sequels of games you played last gen, then I'd highly recommend that system. That's the main reason I bought a PS3. It's also worth checking out the offerings at E3 this year to see which one's games impress you the most. It's also worth considering which console your friends own. But remember, your judgement of the console and games before your friends' decisions. You can't go with your friends on everything unless you have identical tastes!:P

Another thing I'd like to add is that Sony seems to be adding alot of games to their lineup, and if this keeps up, there shouldn't be a problem with quantity of games in the next 2-3 years for PS3. Also, many of those games are quality games. Actually, it's hard to point out which ones aren't.:P Man, Sony's really been trying hard to amp up their lineup, and I'm impressed.:D

you'd wanna look at what games each console offers ( upcoming games excluded ) :

xbox 360

ps3

-get an xbox 360 if you want to save money, if you like its games and if you like multiplats. don't be scared about the RROD, because they've solved that problem. I got a Jasper and never had any sort of problem with it.

-get a ps3 if you like its exclusives and/or if you're interested in watching bluray movies.

I also don't use them to play online. I actually only turn the ps3 on when I want to play games like MGS4 and LBP. For the rest I can assure you that most of the multiplats look better on xbox 360; better anti-aliasing, better framerate and crispier graphics.

So you're telling me you are asking a biased, fanboy filled game forum to tell you how to spend hundreds of dollars? I'm sorry, but really do some research, like on this very site, that tells you what games are on each system, and a place like Best Buy.com to tell you how much they cost compared to each other, and look at statisitics for failure rates and such. One thing I will tell you is that you really should play online. You will be missing way too much of what this gen has to offer.
