Get whichever has/gets the games you like - period.
360. It's selection of games is far better than the other consoles and will get even better in the next few months with Bioshock, Halo 3, Mass Effect....
I would wait til next year to see if you really want a ps3.
The first thing you should do is find a list of announced and released games on wikipedia for both systems. Then sort out which ones you NEED, and which ones you like. Make your decision then.
I will recommend that you don't get a 360 just yet if that becomes your conclusion. wait for the hardware to prove itself, and make sure the new chips and heat sinks are in the 360 you buy. Also, get the one w/ HDMI if you can. If you've ever played a lot of online games for PC, you'll really feel cheesed over by the price of XBL. PSN looks to be getting some of the more social features that XBL has, and it already has better core gaming services than XBL. Motorstorm and resistance have dedicated servers while nothing on XBL has that yet.
If you have an HDTV, it's a close call, but the PS3 has more value if you just look at the hardware. If you don't, hands down 360 is better (if its hardware no longer sucks). XBL cuts the cake for me, and I hate it with a passion so unless the 360's library and upcomming library puts stars in your eyes, I'd go w/ the PS3. Again, that's just hardware and services, but games matter a little more, and so if the library doesn't look good to you, don't get it.

Good points.
I say that you should wait on both systems till next year if you don't particularly know which one to get as of now. By then, the game libraries will have expanded, the prices will have dropped further, and for the 360, the hardware problems will have sorted themselves out -- this will allow you a much better idea of which console will better suit your needs.
[QUOTE="Infinatey"]What are some of your favorite franchises making their way to next gen? What are your favorite genres? What matters to you (in a console)?peje89
MArio and company those are my fav, after them i like Gran turismo, GTA, good FPS, sports game, some RPGs
I meant outside of nintendo. You won't see mario on the 360/PS3.Gran turismo will only be on the PS3.
GTA4 will be on both, but the 360 version has some extra mission-based content (to buy on download).
Both have good FPS. 360 has Bioshock, Halo 3, and those are the only ones I can think of right now. PS3 has Killzone 2, resistance 2, UT3 (with mods/keyboard and mouse), Haze (might get update to use PC mods and such), and more. As of right now, sport games are better on the 360 (but you might not noticed a difference from 30fps-60fps), but the PS3 has it's own exclusive sport games (NBA 08', Hot shots golf 5, MLB the show), and as far as rpgs go both are good choices.
[QUOTE="gameofthering"]I say get a Dreamcast... after what happend to me with 360s lol
I don't know much about Ps3peje89
you see thats why im scared of getting the 360, because i know im going to get the red rings like 3 times within a year.. but please help me out
Simple lol well i got my Ps2 from comet in scotland and a 7 year warranty from there... my 3rd ps2 broke 2 month ago since launch...Well, the 360 is cheaper, so get that first, then get the PS3!! It really does depend on the games you like though. Also, do you want to play games now, or next year? That's the choice you must make. Do you want to play Halo or Killzone? Mass Effect or White Knight Story? MGS4 or Splinter Cell Conviction? Gears or Resistance?Forza or Gran Turismo? Pay for fantastic online or get average online for free? These are questions you must ask yo self.Pepperpop10
AHHH not fantastic online!!! it's terrible!! Why won't people see the light :(
If you want a system now and if you think you might be able to buy the other later, go w/ the 360 i guess. But wait till november. I believe the new chips are going in then.

please explain, because of what i hae heard so far i got me sold,
see i really dont want to pay for online... but XBL is amazing, so IDK peje89
What's amazing about XBL...the marketplace has more stuff, and as of now, there are more achievments and socializing tools than PSN, but there are no dedicated servers. PSN is about to add warhawk as another title with dedicated servers, and if it continues the trend, you can expect more consistant, and consistantly better pings on PS3 games.
I'd say right now, with PSN you sacrifice some social services and demos for better online gaming experience, so they're on par w/ each other. When home comes out, I'd even give the edge to PSN because dedicated servers are so freaking important in serious FPS matches. Why pay the price of a game a year? It's just wrong...argh freaking MS needs to stop milking us.
Edit: XBL also seems pretty uptight about certain content. UT3 free mods and maps for example had issues making it onto XBL. Cross platform play also looks to be impossible. PSN is a little more open. Anyway, that's a rather minor detail. The major points remain though: XBL offers social services, PSN offers more faithful play online. When home comes out, XBL won't have too many substantial things going for it relative to PSN.
