I love me a good hack n slash or action game, with a good story, but not necessarily a lot of dialogue or having to get to know the towns people or some shit haha. Definitely more focus on combat. Also love boss encounters. I feel like games that don’t have boss encounters were too lazy to make one lol. But with that said, I like GOOD ones, nothing just thrown in to tick a box. I also like action fused genres like action rpg, or action adventure. I like RPGs but ones that have good combat. Right now Starfield looks like a snoozer to me because it looks like the same combat system from Fallout 3 lol. The VAT system was weird.

Anyway, how about you, SW? What types of games do you enjoy most?

Games with good and engaging gameplay that is not routinely interrupted.

Online competitive. Arena FPS, twitch shooters would be my favourites I guess, but as long as it's kB&m compatible and fast, it's all good.

Yup. Could be anything, as long as its good in the mentioned sense.

I guess I tend to play action/adventure and FPS games the most though.

Genrewise I enjoy JRPG and Soulsborne a lot.

I make an effort to platinum every JRPG and final fantasy game on PS that I played.

I pretty much have all the platinum for the soulsborne and all the clones except for Elden Ring which I still not played cause I am waiting for DLC drop. Idk Souls game is enjoyable to me. Probably missing some 2D souls clone but only because I just dont like indies very much.

Action RPG’s that aren’t grind heavy, and with well built worlds with good incentives for exploration. The FromSoft games hit this on the head for me, aside from Elden Ring.

honestly i really wouldn't. i haven't platinumed elden ring, still missing a couple of trophies, but ive done just about everything there is to do and that playthrough was like 170 hours or so. im betting that dlc is going to be big. there's a good chance you'll be burnt out with it by then. ive clocked in just under 400 hours in it and honestly elden ring fatigue is a real thing, game is so big, it's crazy

@Macutchi: I prefer to get the whole experience. I tend to move on from souls game pretty quickly once I experience what it has to offer. If I play the base game now chances are I probably will never return for the DLC.

Though there is an exception, the only soulsborne game I replay from time to time is BB.

Platformers.

The combination of timing and rhythm of a good platformer is what I enjoy. I like linear platformers best. So Super Mario Galaxy Series > Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Odyssey, though they’re all 10/10 games.

Super Meat Boy and Rayman Legends are also a couple of my favorite all-time games.

- JRPG’s

- fighting games

- action/adventure

- platformers

- Beat ‘Em Ups

- hack and slash

- third person shooters

ok dont say you werent warned though ;)

i love replaying them. it takes me 2-3 playthroughs to understand enough about the games to plan optimal runs for different builds, and i keep learning and discovering more as i play. elden ring was just too big to do that though.

on topic - i enjoy loads of genres but i'll go with soulsborne and stealth (pure stealth i.e. mgsv, dishonored 1 & 2, alien isolation, early thief and splinter cell games etc.). unfortunately pure stealth games are a dying breed. occasionally you get a nice indie one like mark of the ninja, aragami and desperados 3

I enjoy a wide variety of games.

At the moment i have F1 2020, Bastion, Xenoblade 3 expansion (this weekend..wooo!!), Mechwarrior and Horizon on the go. Not to mention Monster Hunter Rise (I really need to get to the expansion in that).

I can't really pin it down to one type of game i enjoy the most. Depends on the mood really.

Racing and fighting games are probably my favorites. They work well with my lifestyle as a dad too. Gametime is limited between work and kids, so I'll get in a few rounds or laps after they go to sleep. Platformers and action games work well too.

But I'll try anything that's good. I like RPGs a lot, even if I rarely finish them.

Hahaha 😂, you got me with that one!

I love rts, point and click, action rpg, etc. Pretty much any genre, if it's a good game. But the one I miss the most would be competitive LAN games. It still needs to be good, but fighting against, and arguing with your buddies in person is probably the most enjoyable gaming experience of my life. There's just something about hooking up multiple systems that feels so cool to me.

I don't mind the game if you have fun playing it, especially with others.

If some wish to be so narrow minded then thats there loss.

Calm down, buddy. Just poking a little fun. I think the game looks lame, but it could be amazing for all I know.

I like Skateboarding games the most. Games such as the Skate series, the Tony Hawk series and OlliOlli World. I love how they give you the freedom to add your own style and flow. They tend to have very deep player creation as well. Tons of stuff to fool around with, to add an even bigger amount of style in whatever you choose to do. My favourite skateboarding game of all time is Tony Hawk's Pro Slater 4.

Can't really boil it down to a single type. Lets look at my top 10 all time favourite games.

  1. Metal Gear Solid 4 (third person stealth action)
  2. The Last of Us (third person shooter / action adventure apocalypse)
  3. Elden Ring (high fantasy JRPG thats more of a W-ARPG)
  4. Metal Gear Solid 2 (same as 1, but top down and not a TPS at all)
  5. Final Fantasy X (pure turn-based JRPG)
  6. Metal Gear Solid 5 (same as 1 and 4)
  7. The Last of Us 2 (same as 2)
  8. Tekken 3 (arcade fighting game)
  9. Devil May Cry (hack 'n' slash action)
  10. Diablo II (isometric classic CRPG)

We can definitely conclude it isn't FPS or sports games.
