and not a single hermit will be willing to play with ps3 or xbox 360 users wondering why didn't you place that portal exactly where I said and some such much like no pc player of ff11 will ever touch a ps2 or 360 player.

Yet not Steamworks and PSN combined in one package couldn't outsell the one with XBL live.

[QUOTE="Ace6301"]For things like fighting games, racers and puzzle games cross network is a pretty cool thing. For FPS it would just be unfair to the console crowd.

I'm just curious, have they even tried this yet?

Well thats what happens when you have an open network that allows 3rd parties to explore options :) Unlike xbox who've set up the berlin wall around their service.

Valve's goal is to make consoles irrelevant.

it's already been done before. but, once again, sony takes someone else's idea and tricks its fanbase into thinking it's original.

gotta give sony credit for that!

KarateeeChop
In what way did Sony "trick" their customers to make it seem like this idea was original?

This is a pretty lame argument. It could just be for "player" matches or "unranked" matches. That is, friends on PS3/360 could now play their friends on PC. It isn't ranked and who cares if they get owned?

When I tried cross platform coop in Portal it was really cool :P I really like it and hope it gets into more games. FPS games would be too tough (mouse vs analog stick) but what the heck.

I wouldnt play with random people at all though. A game like Portal must be played with friends.

yeah would be awesome to be able to play games like dirt 3 against player of all 3 systems. Most action games would work pretty good as well.

How does it work exactly? caseypayne69

Well basically after you have portal 2 ready to go on your PS3, the first thing you notice once your in the game is that if you want to get on steam you'd need to sign in or sign up, once you sign in you'll quickly be able to see all your steam friends right there and view what their playing as well as them viewing that your playing Portal 2 on PS3, you can chat to anyone on your PSN friends OR steam friends or both at the same time not to mention multiple people at the same time, you can view their profile, news from Valve and lots more all on the PS3 itself. you can also view your achievements which they unlock with every trophy you unlock on PSN. seriously this is by far one of the most inteereting features
