[QUOTE="LookAnDrolL"]MW2, how ? just how Diablo II: game is epic, even without LOD; is just great for a 8.5 Deus Ex: words fail STALKER: Buggy yes, but not that buggy THPS3: give me a breaklightleggyStalker was pretty much unplayable at launch, hence the score.
Which is still rather high. Unless of course now an 8.5 is considered a crap score.
lol no its not and no is not. I hate games in which I must "race against the clock". SMG2 was more of the same (SMG1 which in my book is not very different from the previous 3d mario games) If you had problems with the time constraints then that is your own fault... you can easily do a dungeon and all its side quest in under two days... I dont care, I dont like losing my progress like that, it was a lot of trial and error (more trial than error). I remember the first time playing it, I did a lot of sidequests for the bomber's notebook, then I went looking for the first temple, and when I finally found it, I was like 40 seconds away from the world's end. I had to go back in time and to my surprise I lost everything I had, even the bomber's sidequests. so I just said "screw it" and never played the game again.[QUOTE="lightleggy"][QUOTE="VendettaRed07"]
Majora's Mask is a masterpiece. And SMG2 is fantastic.

[QUOTE="Chutebox"][QUOTE="senses_fail_06"] Editor's Note: This review previously contained incorrect information about receivers' routes appearing as squiggly lines. What we believed to be a glitch is, in fact, a feature to show how nervous a quarterback is. GameSpot regrets the error. OMFG  senses_fail_06
I stand corrected. That is easily the worst review. Why is this guy still employed?
 I have no damn clue. I mean, that has been in the game for almost ten years right? I swear I remember that on the PS2. Which means, 1) he posted this while drunk or 2) hasn't played an NCAA game in years (I believe it appeared in Madden too ((but they got rid of it over time)), but don't quote me on that). That seems like the perfect guy to write a review for the new iteration! Simply terrible.[QUOTE="ShyGai"]Yeah, you're right on that one, how could they give FF8 a 9.5 that game was a clear 10, freaking masterpiece. but hey, GS has never been good with FF reviews...they gave FF7 a 9.5, when it was a 4.5 at best.Out of this gen, GTA4.
Out of all the games, FF8.
lightleggy
You have terrible taste. FF8 was easily the weakest PS1 FF game, tho still good. The draw/juntion system was a mess. And FF7 a 4.5? You're ridiculous.
[QUOTE="GreySeal9"][QUOTE="Xaero_Gravity"]Tools of Destruction was another terrible review. Too much variety as a complainant is just ridiculous.AmazonTreeBoa
Why do people insist on misinterpreting that review? He didn't simply dock the game for having variety. He said it had variety to a fault, meaning that the variety made it that the game didn't play to its strengths, the shooting and platforming, as much as he would have liked. It's a perfectly legit complaint. Variety is not always a good thing.
It's a bad review to anybody that has played the game.I've played and beat the game. The review was fine.
Why should a score be a deciding factor on what a bad review is?Mario Kart 7 (Did they REALLY give it an 8? Just realized this)

I remember him stating "variety is the spice of life, but there's such a thing as too much spice". I always took it as a knock against the game having too much variety which just sounds like an odd complaint. But your take on it makes much more sense so it's very possible that I did in fact misinterpret the statement.[QUOTE="fueled-system"]If you had problems with the time constraints then that is your own fault... you can easily do a dungeon and all its side quest in under two days... You still keep all the important rewards (bottles, items, heart pieces, masks, etc.) and the plot-important progress. The point of the notebook is that it helps you keep track of events and quests and what goes on at what point in the time loop. I don't get where the "lost progress" idea comes from, unless you're forgetting to deposit your rupees in the bank or unlocking the owl statues for warping.[QUOTE="lightleggy"] lol no its not and no is not. So easy to answer:
http://www.gamespot.com/reviews.html?mode=all&sort=score&dlx_type=all&sortdir=desc&official=all
Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing for PC, tested January 14th 2004 got a 1.0
And it's the ONLY one that EVER got a 1.0 in that list. Afterwards comes a lot 1.4, 1.5, 1.6 and so on....
'worst' is referring to the review, not to the game...So easy to answer:

Not without its myriad of faults, though. Dumb AI, one-dimensional characters, barely functional gunplay...Deus Ex. An 8.2? Really?! It's pretty much the best game ever made.

Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn, not only I take issue with the lack of motion control and Miis comment, but I also take issue of the "laughable" story comment. I thought the story was decent (no ridiculous plot twists nor cliches), but agree with Lark Anderson (who reviewed the game) that the villains are often two-dimensional. In fact, one of the villains was a general that had close likeness to Commodore Perry who is responsible of forcing Japan to open to the West in 1853.
I wont say it was the worst, but MGS4s review was extremely unprofessional.
KV is usually good and even when I don't agree with his reviews I can see some logic... but with MGS4 he just threw all objectivity out the window and gushed like a fangirl.
Demon's souls getting a 9.0. It was good fun, but the game has almost idiotic design choices that just shouldn't have been. Voice acting was awful, and the story was practically non existent.
Sonic Unleashed was given a score LOWER than Sonic 06. A 3.5/10
Are they mad!?
Anyone with a brain knows that Sonic Unleashed was a step in the right direction. The game was very enjoyable.
Everyone has Sonic Unleashed to thank for Sonic's comeback.
GeoffZak
Sonic Unleashed sucked balls.
The daytime levels might have been enjoyable, but the Werehog levels, which made up most of the game, were a disaster. I dreaded playing a Werehog level when I was playing through Unleashed.
[QUOTE="lawlessx"]My thought exactly. I don't undertsnad why Kevin Van Ord praised the combat so much and decided to give it a 9. It has nothing great except the gorgeous graphics (at that time)assassin's creed getting a 9
Zensword
I thought it was ok but not a 9.
Another game I believe he reviewd that I disagreed with was No More Heroes. I like NMH but that game has a lot of issues. How did it get a 9 over other beterr 3rd party Wii games?
A 6? To my favorite Final Fantasy next to 6 and 1 Anniversary Edi.? HAHAHAHAHAHA, NO!Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn comes to mind.
Majoras Mask was odd too. Funny how Jeff would review that and then TP later. :P
EDIT: I forgot about FFVIII.
That game should have been no higher then a 6. It was terrible overall.

I didn't like the Skyward Sword one.
I guess it wasn't a terrible review, but it seemed to greatly excentuate the negative aspects of the game while minimizng the game's MANY positive aspects.
Also it was greatly skewyed by the fact that Tom didn't like the motion controls.
Zelda Skyward Sword, Gamespot outdid themselves after the Twilight Princess review, expect a 4 in Zelda Wii U just for attention.King_Dodongo
I would have scored TP a little higher, but I thought most of the review was ok. Some questionable stuff, but nothing out of the ordinary.
The SS review was just a joke. If only I could be an incompetent twit and still keep my job. Gaming journalism seems like a dream. I could probably just not play the game at all, write an opinion and still get paid lol.

More like the fact that he never figured out how they worked lol. I'm surprised he was able to make it through the game playing the way he did.

Agreed 100% , thinking about it, TP's review wasn't that bad, but SS was a different story. Sadly, the guy who reviewed TP lost his job (I heard) and Mcshea is alive and kicking because his trolling drew controversy, and controversy gathers attention. I can see already who is going to review the next Zelda.RE6 a 4.5. It deserves twice the points :DMr_Cumberdale
I havent played RE6, but from what I've seen/heard its far better than a 4.5. More like a 7.5, or 8 it seems.
The worst GS reviews I can think of in recent years would be MGS4 and Skyward Sword. Both the written reviews and number scores were far off.

game_masta14
HAHAHAHAHAHA, YES!
A 6/10 is generous with the amount of crap that game has. To give it a 9.5 is a joke.
i got several now
1 -mariokart 64 -how dare they ,
2 timesplitters 3 future perfecrs bias review on gamecube -7.6 vs that 8.5 it got on ps2 xbox, same game little to no differences ,
3 perfect dark zero a 9 really for a game that has way less content then its prodecessor way bad well the fact it takes 20 bullets or more to kill ai in multiplayer omg , bad a 6.5 worthy product
4 gta iv , no planes no customizations nothing that made san andreas so great and the kicker is san andreas got a 9.5 i think and a 8.9 on ps2 ,
5 mgs iv , that wasnt even a game i consider it a movie 9.5 quality at least
6 halo its getting so stale same ol same ol no additions - yet still gets 8.5 how can a game with little to no improvment keep getting a 8.5 same for call of duty , far worst actually ,
call of duty as stated prior , ---all it is =reskinned 007 affairs !
8 now my eight is nsmb 2 ---- god where they on drugs a 6.5 for this masterpiece -reminds me of that mariokart 64 review not much thought put into it yet theyll give a game that actually is reskinned-cod a continous 8.5 with each passing installment lol
9 forza horizon , -good game but my god its not that good it has half the cars , plays like a test drive unlimited rip off and doesnt have that tdu 2 staple ---massive online racing how can you have a free roam game like that and not have a mode like tdu
10 goldeneye reloaded - after being a messed up port of the wii game , honestly they tossed out the time trials and put in 30 crappy challenges in its place not much was improved visually dispite 360 being more powerful then the wii there are few other examples of this being done -early in the gen though -such as bully se and god father ,
